Wow .... 11 of the 20 bikes in 450 Group B are KX450's, that's impressive! The KX450 must be a good bike for supercross.
Its overwhelmingly Kawi with like 2 hondas, 2 Yamaha's, 3 Huskys and a couple other straglers

Unchanged since 18. Privateers are still running older models with interchangeable parts. Next year will be Honda 450’s

450 of the year. Woohoo Same reason you've seen so many Yamaha's in 250 group B over past years.

Contingency, only oem that pays for making the night show and best overall payout

Ummm yeah. Except is was an all new bike in 2019, and it got a new clutch this year.

Sorry, off a year. The clutch doesn’t matter to privateers. That’s not going to make or break their decision

Then explain why people were running KTM’s before when the contingency wasn’t as good?

No, but the fact that the bike is such a good overall package that it won almost every shootout this year might, especially when you combine the best bike with the best contingency.

I agree with that. I have a few buddies racing sx who are on Kawi. Bump the engine up a hair and dial in the boingers. Done deal lol

I briefly rode one that was piss poorly setup and was still very impressed.... if I were to buy any 4 stroke be it a 250 or 450, both Kawi's are top of their class GOOD bikes and I'm sure that supple chassis has something to do with it along with contingency, msrp discounts, good A-kit suspension stock. Hell, I'd buy the 21 KX250 over a YZ250f bec the engine from what I've read is only marginally better than the KX but I'll bet the kx trumps the yz250f in spades everywhere otherwise....handling, ergos, slim fit, lightweight, top end pull and I'm sure the suspension is nearly on par with the YZ

Im sure the Kawi is a fantastic motorcycle, but most privateers decide on which bike to ride based on the level of support they get from a dealer or sponsor.

You must have missed out on the 2020 Supercross series. Look at the guy wearing the number 1 plate for reference...

I bet contingency / price you can get kawis for change that a lot. Yamaha 250 the best by far and the only Yamahas in the main were star racing 250s

250 B group was stacked with KTMs for whatever reason. On the broadcast, they listed the top 18 in B, I counted 12.
