I kind of think that Pete having the final ‘say’ is at least a little bit overblown. I don’t think that Pete truly imposes his will over Schneider as much as it’s a matter of Schneider trusting Pete’s honesty in evaluating players on the field.

Schneider has seemed to be pretty humble for the most part, and a huge part of his success has come from surrounding himself with really smart scouts and talent evaluators, and then doing the thing that most GMs with less humility forget to do, which is to listen to them.

What is actually kind of bizarre about Schneider’s time as GM is that the Seahawks have not had too many high 1st round picks, and their success in the early rounds has been a mixed bag. But the talent that they seem to spot in the later rounds seem to be almost genius a lot of the time.

I hope Schneider stays, the Seahawks can probably pay him more than almost any team in the league if salary gets stupid, but he’s just really helped steady this franchise at a pretty high level.
Yeah, who knows who has the "final say", and how big of a deal that actually is.

As you state, they have a strong history of trading down, gathering picks, and finding those "gems" in the rough.

I love how they will identify a player with a specific skill set, grab him at the back of the draft, and then craft a personnel package that will highlight that players skillset. Instead of molding "him" into the scheme, they adjust the scheme to highlight what that player brings to the table.

Benson Mayowa and Bruce Irvin fit that bill. Both a smaller D-linemen, but have an EXPLOSIVE first step. Typically, at a home game, the crowd is GOING NUTS, and communication is tough. Couple that with a quick D-Line, and offensive linemen get twitchy.

I also like the early pick of Jordyn Brooks. While he is struggling in pass protection, he is a "sideline to sideline" run stuffer. The more he is on the field, the better he looks. Ugo Amadi is also growing into a great slot cover guy. Picking up D. J. Reed from the 49'er practice squad was also a coup.

They work well together, whatever their arraignment is. I hope to see it continue.

I’m gonna take the Browns, Bills and Ravens to win the AFC matchups this weekend. And the Buccaneers, Seahawks and Saints on the NFC side. I’ll stick with the Bills vs. Packers for the Super Bowl.

Agree with those. I think the dangerous team is the Ravens though. All of their stars already had the rona, and they are hot right now, unfortunately. The rona will have something to say about these playoffs.

Yeah, the Ravens are legit. They have looked great over the last few weeks. With the Bills and Ravens looking so great I’m starting to doubt a Chiefs second title. But then again, we should never doubt Patrick Mahomes.

I don't like the no consistency with the NFL. They keep moving the covid goalposts. Ravens miss half of their team, they postponed the game 3 times and played it on a Wednesday, which kind of screwed the Steelers who then had to play 3 games in 12 days. The same week, Denver doesn't have a qb, but they are forced to play. The last 3 weeks, the Browns have been missing half of their team, or staff, and can't practice, but they keep playing without anything being rescheduled. To me, you either play no matter what, and depend on your backups, or their needs to be a consistent standard for rescheduling.

Finally won my big money CBSFantasy league. Was originally all fish names like snappers,, tarpon, reds etc and called the snookers smashmouth league until a few newer teams changed it up for some odd reason.
Too bad we didn't do it here again. I won 3 times for 6 tries here.

Yes that's true but if one or the other has a GREAT game and one sucks how can they ignore it?

I think that all the ballots have to be submitted before tomorrow’s games start.

Helluva game one! Came down to the wire, the refs blew that call though, that was a fumble. Sure glad the Bills got it done.

I was a Rams fan as a kid (before the Seahawks even existed) and even when the Seahawks were an AFC team. Now I root for Kupp because I got to see him play high school ball.

But I really thought that the Seahawks were a better team than them this season. Was on the road most of the day yesterday so I still haven’t watched the game, might just erase it so I don’t have to live through the pain.

Titans / Ravens game was a close one, little redemption for the Ravens after last year.

Saints prob gonna blow out the Bears.

The late game should be a good one though, never know which Steelers team is gonna show up.

No but that’s a hell of a lead. I doubt they’ll pull a Houston Oiler. Happy for the Browns and the Dawg Pound.

Was just listening to Am720 wgn, Bears radio . So funny there yelling as loud as any human could. One of the guys played in the Lombardi era. Story of Vince,s boys beat the bears 47 to 7. After the game bears players are yelling lock the door, there trying to get in. Packers want to beat them some more. They never took a play off back then. After the game they had dinner together. I have a 91 yr old pal, retired attorney, he had dinner at Lombardi,s house with the wives and all. Pretty much a dick, in real life.

Saw this take that made a ton of sense. Send him to Miami for Tua and at least one of their picks they traded away last year. To me, there are only like 5 teams in the NFL that shouldn't at least be enquiring Houston about him...
