Thanks

I wonder, have those dimensions been the same over the years? Or have they gotten bigger.

I think pro SX whoops from top to top are 8'-10' and 30" deep.

Edit: SX 101 says 3 feet.

No they have always been around that size. really if you try to build them closer you end up with issues because of chassis lenthg. The main differences at Washougal are how they develop. They get more uneven at times. from wear & prep. The only real way to rebuild is to tear out and start fresh. Mine were built with an old Case 450 from the '70's. Much easier on newer machines that don't react like a drunken sailor..........

Yeah, could be a little more. From top center to top center.

Edit: Found a video.

3 feet high and 10 to 12 feet apart.

MC has great advice. I started riding on a small track, that had 3 ft plus hard sand whoops, spacing aprox 6 ft. Whoops are super fun, attack like there a flat straight, 4th gear on a 125, never flat over rev, neat feeling how the bike works threw them. Experiment diff techniques, like riding the rear brake for better straight line and traction control etc. only part of the track, to make the easiest passes. Nothing like being in top gear, ripping whoops.

My track was 2ft high and 12ft apart. Biggest problem was the maintenance on whoops so we actually didn't have it on the track so we put it by the turn track just for a select few to practice on before arenacross started. It actually helped us bc we could change the turn before to give us different options. Plus we could hit them either way. One way without a starter whoop and one way with one. Bc some of the races didn't have a starter whoop.

These are a couple I have on IG. The KX250f is before knocked down & 125 after. He did get them better when they were big but may not have vid - Not the fastest kid in world but can get through a whoop section like not other. Pic is from 125 All-Stars 2018 he would skim the whoops while looking over at crowd & nodding -

He had to do something cool as he was running in 20th or so,lol. So whips & shit was the name of the game. The old 2002 CR125 just didn't pull good starts & 4 laps doesn't give much time to work your way up. Did better in '19 with a 5th overall............

A 5 th at that race is really good. Whoops are just too much fun. I would try to double threw them on a bmx bike. Run the whoops forward and backwards, 40 or so passes threw them is my record. When no one else is riding.
