Right back at ya, what I posted was correct, and then big dummy decided to call me out and is still talkin like a foo.

The event I was referring to was MC's FIRST attempt at his own race, and it sucked, so not many people know about it. Especially people like yourself..

And instead of letting it go, and maybe even apologizing for being an asshole, you're still babbling.

Oh come on Chris... So, you are saying he had a race in 98 or 99? Was it HIS race or did he just race and get all the press because he was the King?

Nothing was mentioned on his website about it or anywhere else I could find. His Invitational was a flop (I enjoyed it though. Thought it had potential honestly) and it was still mentioned on his website...

Now, you might be right, or you might be wrong... but what do I have to apologize for?

I don't know you or anything about you, but I do know, you should probably know your facts before you join in a dogpile on another poster, especially when you're wrong.

I already told you it was MC's race, and the other poster confirmed it, but that wasn't enough... The only other 'big name" was Ferry, and he was only there because he was on Jeremy's team.

There's a lot of shit NOT on his website, lol. Like this particular event, that I was at, and, apparently, you were not. Take your own advise, and check yer facts before you hit "submit'.

Find one piece of evidence about the race... ok? Just one piece... one pic... I'm sure some magazine covered it. It has to be somewhere.

I said you might be right... I don't know.

And I am not joining the dog pile... I'm just counting the posts till the meltdown...

the "Wheelie King"! I saw Domokos ride a wheelie around a whole SX track or close to it at the LA Coliseum, the guy was an animal. He had a motor inside his front wheel to keep the gyro. and some huge sprockets.

Yeah, only other big name was Ferry. Wasn't Summercross the first professional race of Travis Pastrana's career, or where Matthes jumped into the pool? And this might be way way wrong, but Mike Alessi win in KTM SX JR's first race.

Surely to God someone on here knows more about this, or has Matthes phone number, because the man probably knows every monet down to the second they happened.

Chris, here is a link, and it doesn't say a word about Jeremy McGrath being in charge. Halfway down, italicized. http://www.racerxonline.com/article/number-cruncher-odd-digits-07.aspx

I saw Doug in about 80-81. He came Down Under for Western Australia's first ever SX. It was held 2 hours down south at a country speedway in Bunbury.

Ron Sun came over and raced too.

I have seen him a few times ride that wheelie around Millville.......through the "old" sandwash, when they were BIG and DEEP. It had to be in the early 80's, so cool.

Way to call out all the old guys here Bobby. I saw him wheelie the whole Southwick track and if he put the front wheel down once I never saw it.

My teenage son sitll won't believe that someone could do that for the entire track

At 3:05 in the Youtube video above, there had to be a ramp on the back of that car that they're not showing the TV viewers.

Yep, saw him several times down here in Ga. At the Fulton Co. Stadium (when it wasn't full of water) and at the old Road Atlanta MX track.

Employee of mine used to ride with Doug. Said he was crazy - liked to jump off small cliffs in 4th gear pinned.

I used to ride with him all of the time back in the 80's and he definitely didn't need a cheater device to do what he did. He could wheelie the toughest trails no problem on a stock CR250. You would be struggling to make it up some hill and look over and there he would be on one wheel right beside you. He was also pretty fast and real competitive on two wheels as well. It was a sad day when he passed.

Saw the guy many times at SX and outdoors. The most memorable was at Red Bud trans USA race in the 70's. I remember cause he kept trying to do a difficult section over and over till he got it right and everyone cheered like mad!
Also i think it was the race that Bengt Aberg (?) took the hole shot on a thundering BSA 4 stk. at a time when 2 stks were all the rage. I think he ended up in the top 5 but can't be sure.

1st time I saw him was in 78 or 79. Red Buds Gene Ritchie had him wheeling on his Maico during the 4th fire works at the track. They also dug a huge pit and filled it with water. They piled the dirt before the pit and they dowsed Doug and the ramp in gas and light the ramp and .......Doug jumped into the pit!

Watching him wheelie always amazed me......even with the gyrole affect front wheel.

Dude! Come on. Let it go. I'm glad you found an article about Summercross... Did I say the event didn't happen? Of course it happened...

But, and pay attention, you said it was McGrath's race. In no way was this "McGrath's" race. Sure, he raced it. He was the only big name there outside of Ferry and was probably used rather heavily in the promotion. But he wasn't the promoter, and I quote the article you posted that proves my point:

Steve McLaughlin, Summercross promoter, said before the event that he needed about 39,000 to break even in his venture. The paid attendance was 28,300.

Again, this was NOT McGrath's race. You might have heard it was his to lose. Maybe you were confused. But it was NOT MCGRATH'S race...

You get the point yet? You are wrong... Again, thanks for playing...

About Jabjr222

"I am a has-been that never really was."

You sure proved that and more.

I used to laugh when an "industry guy" would come here and get irritated by comments from people that had no clue what they were talking about.

I get it now.. carry on.

You were wrong dude... I can't help it if you can't see that. At least I am honest.

And what, you are an industry guy now?

Just admit you were wrong...

You don't think McGrath had a stake in "summercross"? A race held in the middle of the Nationals, which he just happened to NOT be racing? LOL

On a side note, this was my first glimpse of what SX only looked like... MC is the man, but SX only blows.

Before we get too far... I don't have a personal agenda against you... you made a comment and you were wrong... you even found proof you were wrong. That's all I am saying.

Agreed though, MC is the man. Dude came out of no where and turned supercross upside down. He was the guy that helped bring SX to the mainstream in a way that hadn't happened before. I don't know where we would be without McGrath. He was truly a turning point in motorcycle racing history.

REEEEDDDDD----BBBUUUUUUDDEDDD!!!!! I belive it was 96 or so???

I mostly remember he had a motor on the front wheel of his ATK? to keep the wheel spinning for a gyroscope effect.

And the back sprocket was almost as big as the rear wheel. Guy was AWESOME!
