I recently moved to Memphis, TN and since I've had my bike up here I have struggled to find places to ride. Anyone on here ride anywhere in the mid-south? Moto scene seems a bit dead around here other than arenacross. There are areanacross series and races all around here, but I'd like to find some places to moto on the weekends.

You aren't going to have much luck. There are some private tracks and a few in MS and Milan TN has a track at Alex Ray's Dads place. Best advice is try to meet people that ride and latch onto them hoping it leads you to a private track close by.

He is correct, I live in Union City (2 hours north of Memphis) and the moto scene has definitely declined here in the last few years. Powerline SX is owned by Alex’s dad Ronnie. It’s in Atwood, roughly hour and a half from Memphis, but it’s mostly open in the summer. Ronnie’s a great guy, known him for a very long time. Also check out tmxa.com. Local series(ran by Ronnie) and it has links to some other tracks. I’ve heard a lot of guys talk about Nimms down in Mississippi. Never been but they say it’s good. Shouldn’t be too far from Memphis. Hope this helps, welcome to Tennessee!

Do you ever ride out at West Ky Mx? If not check it out it’s a really solid track not far from you. $20 to ride they prep every weekend and good group of people.

West Kentucky MX in Lowe’s Ky is great, Nimms in Booneville Ms, Mx 886 in Ponotoc MS is open occasionally, Powerline in Atwood Tn, American motos ports in Jonesboro AR, there are many local private tracks with in 2 hours of Memphis, you just have to know somebody to get in. We live in Hernando and ride most weekends, Arenacross is big in the area this time of year but there are places to ride, contact me

Yeah it's tough around here now. There is a track over in Pine Bluff that is open every now and then. MX886 is open some down in Pontotoc, MS only about 1.5 hours from Memphis. Millcreek outside of Bham is probably 4 hours for you. Nimms just north of Tupelo is less than 2 hours, they post practice updates on Facebook under North MS Motorsports I believe. Vet MX just outside of Tupelo is closed. It was the best thing we had in the midsouth. There are several more tracks scattered around north Alabama all 3-4 hours from you. Check out mxdownsouth.com there are a bunch of tracks listed there but a lot have closed. If you have a whole weekend to ride you can always head down to Golden Pine (south MS) or Monster Mountain (south Alabama). Wildwood MX down in Louisiana is open a lot to.

Hidden Valley in Covington Tn is open at times. It used to be an awesome track, but needs a little TLC now. It's still fun though. Check his Facebook page. All the others mentioned above are good also. If you are up to a little driving, Alabama has some great tracks that have practice weekly. I22 out of Memphis to Birmingham isn't bad. We are going to Mill Creek this weekend in Leeds Alabama. West TN used to be the mecca of MX back in the day and still has some great night tracks, but sadly no big day tracks anymore. I live in Middle TN so I'm in the middle of everything, but close to nothing anymore.

Why is that area so dead for moto? I have family in Missouri and if you talk about motocross everyone looks at you like you're crazy. They have decent weather all year.

The TMXA series has good turnouts with 250-300 riders average at many. We just lack the big day tracks because the culture just loves the night tracks. One of my best friends runs Powerline SX and my family and I did signup and scoring for probably 10 years there, but I'm a day track guy myself.

I raced West KY MX for a very long time, was even at their first race way back in 1989. Now I primarily ride off-road but still love MX. I agree with MX317, 15-20 years ago we had many good tracks in this area. Hidden Valley in Covington, Dry Hill in Gates, Dyersburg had an awesome track by the drag strip. But, as he said, too many people would support the little night tracks but not show up for the bigger, better day tracks. I always preferred the bigger tracks as well.

I’m out in west Ky too and wish there were some places to ride and practice with trails and an off-road loop. I don’t mind riding Mx but I prefer to be in the woods and there isn’t much here it looks. We just moved here in July so I’ll be following this.

Sent you a message with my contact info. Open invite to come ride and get to know some of us locals anytime. Heading to Mill Creek this weekend, but there are some good spots not far out of town that are great places to ride.

I’m more of a woods guy but Highland Park (KTM World) in Cedartown GA has several MX tracks. The main one is pretty long with lots of elevation. Also The Ridge in AL has a moto track I believe.

Mid-South Cross Country is right in the middle of its season now and is mostly in western KY, middle Tennessee. Their last race was at Miller Creek in Pontotoc MS that they've mentioned above. CXC Racing is another scramble series that's in that area of Tennessee with a random round in WKY. Might check their schedules and see if some of the places that host races are riding areas. Russell Creek Off-Road is one of them and is a pretty solid area with trails and moto track.

There are several good places to "mountain bike" within the city. I ride almost every day.

All moto will require travel from the Memphis area.

I'm going to try out Hidden Valley tomorrow. They posted on FB that they are open. Dirt actually looks pretty good.
