Revo returns to the paddock. Not sure if it’s entire MXGP but they partner with Kawasaki, Seven and few others. Dylan Walsh and James Dunn in MXGP

I believe it will be a few of the close European GPs for Walsh in MXGP and Dunn in EMX Open. But the main priority will be British Championship and Mx nationals

Late to the party here. With Beta rumored to be in the MXGP mix I'm trying to catch up.
So if you were late to the party trying to put together an Italian team, what rider/s are left that are a top 10 threat?
Perhaps bringing someone new into the mix might be needed?

It as always depends on your budget. If sky is the limit and you are spending Rockefeller sums for teh team then i guess you could convince Paulin, Desalle, van Horebeek to come out of retirement or pick up Tonus and battle for the 5th place in rider standings, maybe 3rd in constructor championship.

If we are speaking real world with SDM Corse team and tiny post 'chinese-sneezing-gift' world budget. I can see them with riders rike Bernardini, Lapucci, at best Guillod or van Doninck maybe Monticelli if KRT is going all in on Febvre. The market is running dry on mid-tier riders who aren't willing to pay to ride.

Lapucci is retired. Guillod will be with JWR Honda, Van Doninck probably with Gebben Yamaha and Monticelli with KRT.
Maybe Tonus with SDM Beta ?

Jasikonis recently said he hopes to restart motocross at least in 6 months... At this time, will he be 100% ready to compete in World Championship...

Question : will Olsen be the only one Husky rider to start the 2021 MXGP season ?
Which fill in rider could we see behind the gate ?
I would love to see Anstie take a spot on the team, they reached out to him when AJ got injured originally
Is the HEP programme 100% running next year with Suzuki not showing much interest in mx?

Oh right, i messed up.

But i imagine Tonus won't be cheap to have on the team but on good day he is podium threat. Otherwise i don't see anyone who would be able to punch above 15th place in the race. Maybe MX2 alumni like Crawford would give Beta a go but again those who would do some damage in the front of the pack are already signed.

Desalle his spot will be most likely take over by Monticelli. Not confirmed yet.

Paulin his spot will be taking over by Coldenhoff.

Let's not forget Christophe Charlier is on Beta's now..

There are some U.S. riders who might be tempted also, here's a few that come to mind. Andrew Short is a great development rider, and Mike Brown is still a trainer with Aldon Baker. There would be a big increase in exposure with a name U.S. rider. There is also some guy named DungeySmile

His 2020 plan was to compete on a Kawi in french national championship.
In fact he stayed home...

I think you mix up Lapucci with Furbetta, or maybe Furlotti. Lapucci aint retiring.

Tonus wont be SDM.

Semi OT question: With all these big names possibly without a ride or getting out of mxgp etc, would there be any money for these guys if they would team up and form their own competiton?

Paulin, Desalle, Anstie, Tonus, van Horebeek, Bobryshev, Strijbos, Nagl, Simpson, Searle to name a few all have quite some name recognition. Lets say they all agree to go the privateer route, put up a 'series'-website and sign up to race at a bunch of events and have that event count to their serie title.

Would there be any money from race organizers etc to pay these guys?

That's million dollar question.

Short answer: No

Long answer: No way. Those "retired" guys were motivated by the golden plate issued by FIM and chunk of money to live of in these days. You would get no support from FIM i imagine. How would you acquire the chunk of money to compensate the riders as promoter? By sponsors - who are nowadays running thin due to the aftermath of chinese sneezing gift. Money-wise it wouldn't work to make a 10-ish round series & i bet FIM with YS mafia would find way to make it not worth your effort because you would be poaching sponsors from them.

You would be maybe able to make one special event let's say in Lierop or Namur where you would be able to survive money-wise and if you are buddy of those riders they would maybe turn out and give it last try just out of nostalgia for a semi-decent paycheck but definetly not series.

I guess the question is do these (former) 'big names' attract a couple of 1000 people paying 25 euro to a race or not?

I mean there are so many races for EMX and national riders organized by clubs that the event shouldn't be the problem, the question is will people show up. If they do there is money to split.

Speaking on behalf of czech spectators. The first czech round was designed to have 3 thousand of spectators watching Vialle, Geerts, Hofer & nagl. I think the rule was broken and there was around 4 000 people. But that's only my guess. it was packed.

If you would be able to put race with Desalle, Paulin, Strijbos, hell even Phillipaerts, Barragan & Steve Ramon i'm willing to do the 350 km haul happily to Loket for 25 Euro... but since there are border restrictions and Loket is closer to the german border, you would lose on the german spectators. My estimated attendance would be around 6-10 000 people. You get 250 000 from attendance to pay riders, track crew, doctors, etc. It runs thin fast.

For the Netherlands 6.000 tot 10.000 would be way to optimistic number. The Dutch Masters with a bunch of GP stars including Herlings & Coldenhoff often have less then 6k visitors with prices at 20-25 euro.

As for the costs of organizing i'm not sure i undrestand why that has to be such a high number. In the Netherlands there are a bunch of ONK races that include EMX riders and sometimes some GP riders. It has track crew, doctors etc. and there is no income from ticket sales (since it attracts no spectators). If that can be funded solely from entry fees etc we are not talking about a big number.
Apart from money for those riders i don't see what additional high costs there would be. Other then additional costs that you only make when they bring in more money then it costs (like hospitality for sponsors, or tv production).
