In the last few pulp interviews it Craig and Martin seem to be raving about how much better the bikes are especially cornering and now the PC Shimoda video he says he was accidentally quading things with fast the Kawi is

Its my opinion if you put Dylan on the Geico bike last year he would still be champ.

They usually aren’t that open about it, especially someone like Craig who has strong relationships with the team

Jeremy Martin had the best average position after the holeshot line of all 250 riders outdoors in 2020, the bike was fine.

I think Jeremy could have had a handful of better finishes if he had been on the Yamaha, he put in a hell of an effort and fought till the end though.

Probably slightly better, but not enough to beat Ferrandis.

If the bike advantage is so big as most claim, he should win 2021 pretty comfortably. Anything else is a failure.

It looks like several factory bikes, including Geico's, made tons of power, but the bike that everyone is talking about as best-in-class has that really hard-pulling bottom end that makes digging out of corners and getting over the big obstacles easier.

They are still fresh on the new bikes

Riders tend to focus on what the new bikes do well right off the bat. Rooting out minor issues and bad traits takes lots of hours and testing.

Give it some time.

This 250 generation for Yamaha is a really good bike, no denying that, but the Geico Honda team knew how to build a really competitive bike and I can’t think they were handicapped much.

you here it all the time when a rider goes to a new team, no one is EVER going to say the bike is slower or as fast, they will always say its faster even if it isnt....

I agree with posters above, if JM doesnt win the title then what will people say about the yamaha?

Martins Honda handled like crap. That thing was jumping all over the place. Way different from his Yamaha days. Power wasn’t near as much of an issue as handling was.

Quite easy on a supercross track actually. Its a matter of about 5-10 mph, and when you haven't had to have precise timing for months on end its easy to miscalculate. Especially if you're riding a hard packed SX for the first time after riding deep outdoor tracks.

The Star Yamaha 250's make really good torque. The Geico bikes may make similar peak horsepower numbers but those Star Yamaha's were stout.

A few years ago a certain rider would start with a new team and he was always 2 or 3 seconds faster the first day on the new bike.I think this happened about 800 times....

He said almost quad, which in riders terms means overshot the pocket and into the face of the 4th jump. As someone who has spent plenty of time on an sx track, trust me, its really easy to face the quad first week on an sx track. He wasn't saying it literally.

He said almost quad, which in riders terms means overshot the pocket and into the face of the 4th jump. As someone who has spent plenty of time on an sx track, trust me, its really easy to face the quad first week on an sx track. He wasn't saying it literally.
My bad then, didn’t realize he talked about facing it. I agree that’s easy to do.

I think it mattered twice this year. At Millville and Lakewood. If Jeremy was on a Star bike, he wins Millville easily. I'm not sure if he wins at Lakewood, but he was at a massive disadvantage there.
