Correct on mxgp this year Ktm Tom Vialle has 14 holeshots vs 4 holeshots from Yamaha Jago Geerts

Ends up being a difficult task for the guys on the smaller bikes, although about once a decade someone exceptional puts in a memorable performance. Heard of O’mara or Lamson?
In a series it’s not going to put anyone in a better championship position on a 250 Vs 450.
Worth noting also that at MXdN the start is very bias to benefit the bikes on the inside.
And a lot of teams allow the small bike to take the better starting position. In a normal national the 250 would have a tougher time lining up on a more even start

That’s always an interesting part of tactics at MXdN; who gives the better gate pick to which rider?

Power spread, traction, 15k+rpms, means the 250fs crushing the 2 stroke, sorry.

Maybe at some tracks in the hands of some riders,....but races in the Aussie and Canadian nationals, where they had a true 250cc class, you regularly saw 2t’s holeshotting factory team 4t’s.
To the point that factory teams whinged so that the rules were changed again.

I rode a newer YZ450 for the first time today. I don't understand what everyone is complaining about. It was really really good.

It probably means nothing, but in July I was watching Justin Barcia, Broc Tickle, and Dylan Ferrandis do starts together at the end of a practice Tuesday at Pala.

Of course Barcia and Tickle were on the factory YZ450, and Ferrandis was on the Star 250F.

They did about a dozen starts together with the mechanics behind them off the Pala gate over the course of an hour, and Ferrandis led into the first left hand turn every time that I saw.

I dont know what that means, but Barcia is normally a pretty good starter, and Ferrandis was always first into the corner.

On a 250.
