Any news on the Dungey saga? Is he running his own team with outside sponsors...on an HRC 450F?

Sounded like he was done kicking tires on that dream in his PulpMx interview on Monday.

It would look like a good year to drop the pointing out rule, both in 250 GP and AMA.

From what I read, there are quite a lot of good calibers who get pushed away or are having big difficulties to land a ride ; I like having new rookies every year, but we must also get real and see that not many may have the level to enter the top 10 in 450 at some points. Having 2 or 3 additional experienced top riders in 250 would not hurt the 450 level and would quite make the 250 field more stacked.

I think I heard in an interview with Reedy that mentions adding a salary cap. I think that'd be perfect for the 250s. You can stay in the 250s as long as you want, but you max out at X dollars. Or something along those lines so the incentive is still there to move up to the premier class, but people aren't forced out of a class with no rides available. Something needs to change where rides aren't available for riders being forced out of the 250 class & end up on a privateer bike or just not riding at all. Obviously the goal is going to be getting to the 450s but instead of point out & not allowing a salary cap, you have to win an SX / MX title first? or defend it. I'm not sure how they need to iron it out, but something needs to change for sure. Ferrandis probably should have had offers from way more than just Yamaha & GasGas but because of current contracts & rides available, it couldn't happen.

It's too easy to cheat that with dark money and shit. Pay the wife a million dollars as a "nutritionist" or the practice mechanic some outrageous amount, have goggle company drop mystery "bonuses" on the rider, his team or his estate that no one ever sees.

Points is the only way, money can be cheated.

Look, this is professional racing, riders should be able to race any class they want, just as if ET3 or DF14 showed up at your local track to race the 100% payback money class (5 rider minimum). Are you going to tell them "No, you can't race because these are B class pros not real pros like you guys, so you can't race here. Now, piss off?"

Let pros race any class they want. Split 250's to E/W, but can only race one coast. Points need to be fair, where 250 SX points pay one-half of 450 points towards year end total points....right now, that system is jacked also.

Just because you cant spend all the money you have on an Elite rider, doesn't mean you're going to pay other riders more. Just means the guys on top will get paid less.

Arent Tickle and Savatgy eligible to go back to 250? If you finish outside the top 15 you are right? Or I got the rules wrong?

Even if they are, would you pick them over any of the top guys in need of a ride?

I would pick them over anyone but Forkner, Martin and Jett.

Anstie and Enticknap will be at HEP for 2021.

Friese is locked in at MCR, they like him and I'm guessing his base salary is pretty low.

Hill is at MCR.

Bowers likely does his own program again, he seems to have decent support and I believe gets a bit of help from Kawasaki as he has done a lot of test work for them over the years.

Brayton is riding for Penrite Honda, and likely getting some factory support.

The next pieces to fall in place logically are Savatgy, Malcolm, Tickle, Bogle, Bloss

Very good question, as I think this top 15 rule could work well. From my understanding they cannot go back at all which sucks as not every rider transition well or have the potential to make it in the big class. If anyone have any insight, please enlighten me !

All that would make sense, I’ve also heard McElrath to HEP, Clout to Penrite on a 450.

Hartranft is an interesting one, Matthes posted him going to SGB Kawi on his Twitter, not sure if he was being serious or not.

I think Bailey, Gonzalez have something in the works

I think in the next two weeks that Hartfrant, Shimoda, and Mumford should have gigs lined up.

Gonzales is going to get bikes from Yamaha and my guess is keep going with the Rock River team. Word is, he was offered a PC bike for the last 5-6 nationals, but they passed because the Yamaha deal was already a sure thing and they didn’t want to rock the boat.

My guess is he does well next year and grabs a bigger team ride for 2022.

What's the 250 factory picture looking like?

HRC Honda 250 -

Hunter Lawrence #?
Jett Lawrence #?

Star Racing Yamaha -

Nichols #?
Martin #6
Craig #?
Frye #?
Cooper #32 or 14

JGR Suzuki

Martin #26

Monster Energy / Pro Circuit Kawaski -

Forkner #?
McAdoo #?
Sanayei #?
Harrison #?
Smith #?

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna -

Hampshire #24
Mosiman #?
Swoll #?

TLD GasGas (I haven't heard anything on their team, so I'm just plugging in the current team on KTM)

Hartranft #?
Brown #?
Drake #?

450 seems pretty clear cut -

Monster Energy Kawasaki -

Tomac #3
Cianciarulo #9

Monster Energy / Star Racing Yamaha -

Plessinger #7
Ferrandis #14 or 8

HRC Honda -

Sexton #23
Roczen #94

Rocky Mountain / ATV KTM -

Baggett #4
Bogle #19

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna -

Wilson #15
Osborne #16
Anderson #21

Red Bull KTM -

Webb #2
Musquin #25

JGR Suzuki -

Savatgy #17?

I'm obviously leaving out a lot of names here, but the 250s seem to be a lot more hectic with TLD KTM going to GasGas, Red Bull KTM making a 250 team (only heard on here about that, so I could be wrong), GEICO Honda shutting down & HRC housing the Lawrence bros only, which sounds more & more true since both Craig & Martin went to Yamaha.

I'm curious to see what the 2021 pro numbers are going to be this year. I think DF will take the #8 & Cooper will take the #14. Anyone else eligible to select a career number? Sounds weird but I think it'd be cool if one of the Lawrence bros got to select the #22 & keep it aussie for the foreseeable future!

Looking at your list from bottom to top, It seems like Joey will not be back at JGR, I’d guess McElrath goes there. No guarantees Bogle is back with the RMATV crew. Drake and Hartranft out at TLD, TLD GasGas is supposedly Mosiman and P Brown. Swoll, Hampshire and Robertson at Husky. Forkner, McAdoo, Smith, Hammaker at PC. A Mart would seem plausible to return to JGR 250 class.

Ferrandis is eligible for a single digit number. Other than him, any of the top 10 guys in combined points are allowed to change their career number if they want. They can only do that once.

Zach is too. He will get first shot at #8.

Why is it that we are only discussing #8 though. 5 is available too
