Bell vs Astars helmet owners

Long term Bell moto 9 user. Very interested in the astars lids and have a source on a medium for cheap.

I am medium in bell
large in fox and Arai.

What size should I get for the astars if anyone has any feedback.

I wear a Bell Moto 9 in Medium.
Pops has an Astars in Large. Too big, I'd need a medium.

I had a med Bell Moto 9 prior to my med Astars... Bell was snug, and Astars is just a bit bigger.

I love the Astars... fits killer, super light, and I don't even notice I have it on when i'm on track. Super glad I got it, and will be getting another one eventually.

I got a new Shoei WFX-EVO and a Alpinestars S-M10, been a Shoei guy for a long time.. It’s just not in the same league. The S-M10 is amazing 🤩🤩🤩

My bell Moto 9 flex has been disappointing to me. The different trim pieces have all come unglued multiple times in the year I’ve had it.

For a high end helmet treated carefully to have those issues to me is disappointing. The protection and comfort is great but the small details bother me.

Will be trying a different brand new for sure.

Are you looking at an SM5 or the M08/M10? I have an M10 and like it. I tried on an SM5 and it is not as comfortable.

I had a Bell Moto 8 and replaced it with an Astars. I'd say the sizing is almost identical.

The moto 9 XL fit me and I switched to the M10 carbon and fit a Large better. I have noticed the chin bar area or lower check pads are still a tab loose, will probably add some foam inside. Helmet is amazing, great air flow and insanely light. I have about 8 rides on it and no complaints. Easy to clean out as well.

I wore a medium Bell and found it too narrow but good otherwise. When I switched to the Alpinestars helmet, the medium fit was perfect.

Since you mentioned them, I also had a Fox V4 and Arai VX-Pro 3 in mediums. With the SM10 fit being slightly larger than the Bell, and you sizing up in the other two brands mentioned, the Astars medium should be pretty spot on.

Just recently picked up the A-star SM10. According to the A-star measurement chart, I think I was on the upper end of the medium sizing. Debated on whether to go with a medium or large, as there was no where local to try them on. In all the other helmets I've had over the years, I've always worn mediums, including some previous Bell models, but not the moto 9.

In the end, I went with the medium. Fit is snug, but not overly tight. All heads are different, but their sizing chart seems to be a pretty accurate predictor. I would imagine I could probably wear a Large and it would feel ok, but I prefer a slightly tighter fit initially, in case there is any "settling" of the padding later on. Regardless, after a few minutes, I forget I even have it own. Really enjoying this helmet. Fit, finish, and comfort are great. Highly recommend it.
