If you are just bolting it in, your shock is crooked. (10+)It requires machining. Laid them here to show you, you can tell which is which by the shock mount. But that 09 will line up. That's a transition part. Meaning, new swingarm, on the older frame, with the shock mount to match the older frame. Then in 10+ they cocked way sideways to accomodate the pig tail exhaust.
In the picture there's one arm that will work and one that won't. The 17D arm is actually a 250F arm that was used from 2009-2013. The 34P arm was the "transition" arm that was only used on the 2009 450F. Those arms will work on a YZ.

The later 33D / 1SL and BR9 arms will not work on the YZ's as a direct bolt up.

Yes, the later 450F swing arm one you have to modify slightly and shim. In my YZ315 thread I mention how much you have to machine. Works well after the mods!

I totally understand. The pricing for new is crazy (and I can't imagine it's very impressive when you look at $/weight saved).

One of my eBay finds came in! Bought at used price, but they look brand new, not even a mark under the stem nut. Yz250 specific and I already checked, yes they do fit yz fork diameter.



The solid clamps I had were for 125, the stem was short but it worked. They are for sale in bazaar if anyone wants them.

Hey mate, just read the whole thread and I like your rear brake lever mod, went through the thread a few times but I didnt see you mention what year the rear brake lever is, I am keen to do the same mod for mine and will fit in with the resto mod thing I have going on. Sent you an email. If you don’t get it, the one I used is 2010-2013 yz250f. I think any yzf 2010+ will work as long as the pivot bolt didn’t change length.

Not the gas tank trick I was talking about still working on that.
Little trick for anyone using xtrig clamps and don’t want to drill a hole in the stem nut. Xtrig stem isn’t hollow all the way through so venting into it is just asking for a mess to gather. I was just looping mine through the cable bracket but that put a lot of curve in hose and rubbed against the clamps.. I may move this to the bottom bolt to keep the cables clean.
3/8 plastic P clamp, most hardware stores, very cheap

Nothing major. Recent arrivals, xtrig clamps, light speed carbon head stays, moose vent hose spinner, vortex ignition, boyesen water pump, G2 throttle, and Racetech Ti linkage bolts.
Been heavily focused on tuning and managing a drag car program this year. $50k end of year race this weekend then probably will turn attention back to bikes. I haven’t ridden a bike since December when I broke my wrist.

Very excited about this!
Dropped my tank off to an old friend who runs the community college machining program I once went thorough. He agreed this would give his students a sense of a real world project.


This is a flush mount gas cap for R-tech tanks. Originally I thought I may get away easy and use a boat gas cap, but this r-tech tank has a very odd thread so custom was the only option. Original plan was to make one from aluminum but they found no matter how much they changed the threads it was trying to chew the plastic threads out of the tank. So they switched over to the 3D printer and here is the first version. They plan to revise the support structure of the print to smooth out some of the imperfections.

Right now I am letting it sit in some gas to see if it holds up. If so should be golden. The only other thing I may try is to stretch an O-ring around it to keep water out.

I plan to drill a hole in the top right corner of the tank and use the Zip-Ty dry break breather to vent the tank. And then run the breather tube over to the left side into the holder I showed before.

May make a small batch, but don’t think I will gonna sell them for a while. Want to make sure that are good quality first before people go drilling holes in their own tanks.

If I may, I'd like to make suggestion. That Zip-Ty vent is pretty bulky. I have used and simple brass nozzle used on Kawasaki jetskis ( part #92062-3705 ) for this sort of thing several times and it's really clean.



You might consider adding a little meat to your design right in the center of the rib for a good spot to drill and press it in, but I think it makes a much cleaner and simpler vent nozzle.

I could get some pictures of how I'm using it if you like.

Yeah I’d like to see pics of how deep that nozzle holds in. I may consider it for the tank. Unfortunately with this design the nozzle has to go through the tank. That rib is as wide as it can be in order to fit your fingers in the pockets to get the cap out. This cap isn’t but 1.75 dia.

Yeah my plan is to replicate the carbon tanks with the completely flat cap and relocated vent for a flat seat to tank transition.

Managed to fit an O-ring to keep water out. Will probably try a size bigger to get it slightly wider than the cap.

That tank cap is very cool, Will you make a tool for removing it? Seeing my friends experience with his CRM tank and its flush mount cap sometimes he has to resort to a pair of pliers to get it undone, shallow centre rip and not much leverage overall makes for frustrating re fuelling sometimes.

Wonder if a spoke wrench would fit on there. Get one of those tips made for a spoke torque wrench and put it on a T-handle if it does fit? Might be too small of a contact area and marr up the center of the cap over time though.

Yeah could be an issue. Probably would just use a wrench from the box if it’s a problem. I could get them to print a tool but that’s just another tool in the box I’m carrying tor the track anyways.

Those style caps can be an s.o.b. to get off, occasionally. I remember some of the factory mechanics having a little tool to get their similar style caps off.
It does look cool with the blue cap and the black tank.

Did you get a weight on those ROCS clamps with bar mounts? It would be interesting to see how they compare to ours. If you have them handy, can you throw them on a scale? Clamps, all bolts, lower bearing (no race), and bar mounts all in one go would be a good apples to apples comparison for me if you can do it.
