love this, swtich out the swingarm for a 2009+ 4 stroke if you find one

you will need

swingarm
rear brake carrier
linkage
rear hub

all bolts right on. Ihave a 2009 yz250f rear end on my yz250. saves well over 1 lb. and if you machine the casting off the linkage, hub etc saves even more weight.
Already have. Working on a set of wheels so I can use the 25mm ti axle I have.

Titanium seat brackets checked off the list. Cdoggy is checking on getting carbon seat bases made by legacy carbon if enough people are interested. Going to have a full factory seat lol.

Mounted up with ti bolts
Limited quantity available get them here.

Thanks man I really enjoy making it better and sharing it.
Yeah the hydraulic clutch is a massive difference, the first day you ride with it feels weird because it's so effortless and the pull is consistent throughout the travel of the lever. Of course you'll get the guys who say it's no better than a properly adjusted and lubed cable clutch and that's probably true. Also they say the hydraulic clutch doesn't allow for as much control for feathering the clutch it's more off or on. For me that's not something I'm concerned with.
I haven't touched mine since I put it on and I think that's the biggest advantage.

What’s the latest with your build? I’m sure with all the virus home time you got some more stuff done to it 😁
BTW I sent you a PM as I couldn’t find your # 😖

Finally got back into the swing of things and at just the right time too. Been coming across deals like crazy. More on what I got later.
I came across a vortex ignition for a deal. I’ve been watching for years and never thought I’d come across one.
So I took the vortex bar map switch and the KTM bar map switch to the wiring guru at my work and see if he could work his magic. Luckily both switches function the same and he was able to fit the connector to the KTM switch. No big yellow switch on my bars!

For reference a few pages back

This build is awesome!

Was thinking about getting a set of those Ti seat brackets. Did you ever weigh your seat setup with the Think foam and carbon base?

Thanks! Working on completing it and throwing all the parts on it this time around. Bike has been completely disassembled since February because I broke my wrist the week after Christmas.
The ti seat brackets are great weight savings, 2 ounces for the set over stock. They weight about half an ounce a set. There are a lot of light weight parts that don’t save as much as those.
I haven’t weighed the seat with carbon base. But I can say the plastic base, with ti brackets, ti bolts, think foam, and seat cover weighs 1.786 lbs
That is the same weight as the stock foam by itself.
I doubt the carbon base will lose much over the plastic, so maybe it will get down to 1.5 lbs.

The KTM map switch is a nice touch to clean up the bars

Working on getting a real good run down on parts weight for everyone to reference. Let you know what is true bang for the buck.

The four stroke swing arm isn't a direct bolt on, the shock is offset left / right.

I mean, it'll BOLT on...

For 2009 yzf?

2009 YZ450F is a direct bolt on. The later years there is offset.

As the others have already pointed out the 2009 is a direct bolt on, 2010-2013 is hit or miss & 2014 + on is offset.

Very specifically the 09 450 us the only one that works. I've got two of em if you need
Already been done😉 Also the newer models have a 1mm smaller diameter swingarm pivot.
09 yzf arm 143-145 adjustable linkage, yzf knuckle, yzf brake carrier, 25mm hub and axle.

Of course it has. By me, for one. Remember the works Yamaha swingarms from 17 that Roman Febvre, Reed, and all of JGR ran? That's what I ran. Think I gave it to my friend

If you are just bolting it in, your shock is crooked. (10+)It requires machining. Laid them here to show you, you can tell which is which by the shock mount. But that 09 will line up. That's a transition part. Meaning, new swingarm, on the older frame, with the shock mount to match the older frame. Then in 10+ they cocked way sideways to accomodate the pig tail exhaust.

Those braced arms are sweet!
You can make one.

Buy a second swingarm and precision cut the top of the arm parts off. It could be done very carefully with an angle grinder if you're good with one and make a guide line, because you'll have a built-in jig.

Enlarge the holes for the chain guide and brake line guides , use them as a jig, tig it up. Install longer hardware. You can prob see what it is. It's a conjoined twin

Thanks for putting in the effort for that. Next you need to do the CRM airbox/subframe Evil .

I’m all about doing this build for “cheap” im currently in it for about the same as a new 450 with a pipe. So if one comes up on eBay or on vital I’d do the subframe. But I can’t do the $2500 for a new one. And they don’t make this rtech shape tank in carbon

The CRM subframe is for living room bikes. Imagine tipping over in a corner, picking your bike up, and that thing has a 6" split in it.

Then you would have to have it repaired.
I got a quote from a local company to repair a crm yz subrame and it was 175$ to repair.

I had the chance to buy one for 350 eur but didnt have the money at the time and now i would have wanted it so bad.
I can buy a brand new crm yz tank for 750 eur. But it is to much for some carbon.
