I have one on my YZ as well, though mine is still very snappy.

OP, read up on adjusting the timing for a more mellow hit. Technically it's a free mod if you have the tools.

I do on my 06 KX250... mine is the next heavier OEM flywheel so not sure how much it is, but I love it after getting used to it!

I went all in with the a 13oz on my YZ250. I ride a good bit of technical enduro stuff so that was the primary reason for it. But I keep it on when I ride MX. It's too much weight *most* of the time on the track but off the line it's perfect. At my level, most guys tend to be hurkey-jerky right out of the gate and the flywheel weight smooths all of that out. I'm experimenting with some motor mods to compensate for the slower windup elsewhere on the track.

I actually started out with a 9oz weight but felt the power delivery could be smoother still. For me, I think 11oz would be perfect for the track but like I said, most of my riding these days is pseudo hard enduro so the 13 ouncer is staying put.

I had an 11 oz on my KTM 250SX. I took it off because I felt like coming out of turns straight into big jumps that it just wouldn't go. That was a mistake. I couldn't handle the power delivery without the flywheel. It was just too much of a beast.

I've got a 9oz now. I feel more confident coming out of turns, but I rode better, more aggressive, and faster with the 11oz. I still have it and may put it back on, but I'm fine with the 9 right now and I'm too lazy to go back.

Wait.... you're trying to make a two-stroke feel more like a four-stroke???

I was just gonna mention the 06 4M250 needed one, it was a much better bike after putting one on.

I had a 9oz flywheel weight on my 2010 yz 250. On it's own it didn't make a huge difference but when I paired it with a dep pipe and standard length dep silencer the power was smooth and pulled forever. Throttle response felt worse with the fww as the motor didn't spin up as quick but I could roll the power on earlier coming out of corners and had to wait for the power to wind up.

When I sold that bike I took the fww off and sat it in my shed. I ended up loaning it to a mate with a yz with a full pc exhaust. He said it made it a different bike and so much more rideable so he gave me some cash and kept it

I now run a hgs pipe and shorty silencer on my 2018 yz250 and prefer this set up. It's a smooth power but starts earlier and pulls harder through the mid range but signs of earlier.

McGrath used to run one on his Hondas. Not sure about Suzuki or Yamaha.

Took mine off of my 05 RM250, much better if you gear it up.

Vet rider, rode quite a few YZ250 for years without weight. Tried a 9 oz weight, the first few rides I didn’t like it, less hit and felt like it gave up earlier at the top end of a gear. After a while I found that in some corners I could not down shift and have a good steady pull out in the higher gear, no clutch working. It’s not every corner but often enough I began to like it. I’ve had it on my last two bikes. Never thought to hard how it effects starts.

I believe I read that Emig did as well on his KX250s!

Have one on my YZ167. Much better with it on than with it off.

I have a 1996 CR250 with a light FWW It makes the bike easier to run high gears in the corners and much smoother accelerating on bumpy exits. Want to try one on my Varner 2002 CR250 but it pulls so smooth, so early I think I'll be fine without. But want to try one to see..

You can try an O ring chain as well. I have a 10oz on my 2k YZ 250 along with a Fatty pipe. Nice low and mid.

I had a Mint 2008 YZ250F back in the day and I got rid of it because I was strugglign to adjust. In reality my ego was just bruised. I wish I would have tried a FWW.

I think I used to run a GYTR 8oz. Helped with rolling and keeping RPMs up. Not as snappy.
