Glad to see Mike is ok. Could have been tragic. I think I'll stick to mountain biking.

Get well soon Mikey. I was quickly scrolling through MXA, and thought Mikey had converted to Islam.

Bikes should stay off the friggin roads that have posted speeds over 25mph. First of all they pay zero road tax so they have no business even being on the road. They carry zero insurance. They can't come even close to doing the speed limit therefore they are a danger to all involved. Plus, with all the people on the phones these days, you'd have to be on a fucking suicide mission to ride the same roads as cars without a designated bike lane. You want to ride on the road with a bike...you should have to pay road tax, have a license plate or sticker, actually obey stop signs, lights and other rules of the road and carry liability insurance...just like a car.

Guaranteed this guy rides a Harley and no mask because covid is a conspiracy.

After surviving the crash where like 5 guys landed on him, not surprised this wasn't enough to keep him down. Big fan of both the Alessi bros and glad to hear Mike should be okay.

A friend of mine that’s not into Moto at all posted this about a guy getting hit on bicycle. She didn’t have names posted just a look out for a red Chevy truck that fled the scene. Even more bummed now to hear it was a Moto brother.

@spimx : Mike owns House. Pays tax. Taxes go towards......ah yes, roads.

You’re gonna argue bikes shouldn’t be on the road ? Cyclist rides into a town. Stops at a convenient store. Buys water. Pays tax on said water. Tax go towards....ah yes, roads.

Cyclist buys gear a cycling shop, pays tax on——ok ill stop. You get it.

Zwift is looking way more appealing these days if you’re not going out on a group ride.

I cycle in both Texas and Cali weekly. Cali has wide bike lanes and most people seem to know to look for cyclists (there are many in the East Bay Area where I stay when Im here). In Texas there are very few cyclists and no bike lanes anywhere near my home. I at least have one close call every time I ride.

Vital MX once again proving to have some genuine arseholes on board.

Guy gets hit by car, car speeds off, arseholes blame guy on bike for being on the road.

Get well soon Mike

I lean towards the side of not riding a pedal bike on the road. A family friend we used to BMX race with just got hit a few months ago. My cousin got hit a year ago and woke up in a ditch several minutes after the collision.
There are several taxpayer funded bike and nature trails in a 40 mile radius. Use them. I live on a hilly rural 2 lane road and I come across bikers riding 3 wide at 7mph every weekend. If I was driving my lawnmower down the road at that speed, you would call me an idiot. I can’t drive down the road I help fund with taxes with my MX bikes, 4 wheeler, lawnmower, golf cart, or side by side but I can pedal up and down blind hills and curves with a bicycle at any speed I’m comfortable with.

Yo brotha, I'm guessing this your opinion, and you're entitled to it and all that, but do you happen to know the rules governing bicycles on public roads in your own state? Do you happen to know the right of way laws in Iowa by chance? Care to enlighten us all?

While one could come up with a logical argument to keep bicycles off roads faster than 35, the road tax part doesn't really fly. 200lbs of bicycle/rider being powered by 1/2 of a hp results in zero wear. Undoubtedly rain and sun would kill a road 100 times faster than any group of bicycles ever could, and as of yet the politicians haven't figured out how to tax the sun, wind, and rain.

The safety part- well, even the most ardent supporters of road biking are agreeing it's dangerous. It's also their choice.

Probably also complains about high taxes, yet wants other people (cyclists) to pay more taxes. bangs on about freedoms, and how only he should decide what is too dangerous, but also wants other people to be banned from things because he doesnt like it.

I live in a semi country area. My main road has a 50 mph / 80kmh speed limit. It's reasonably wide but there are no curbs, foot paths, and certainly no bike lanes -- people walk, jog, bike, walk dogs, strollers and even ride horses. It gives me great pleasure to slow down and give them lots of space and a wave. I truly get a kick out of seeing them enjoy life. When I walk the dogs or bike, a few people always jam by way too fast and don't even cross the median to give some space. They must be the tax payers.

There are road cyclists that are genuine arseholes and piss drivers off. I've had an altercation with one in the past and it left me angry with the whole cycling community for a bit but eventually I got over it.

Cyclists and motorists need to respect each other more.

Not sure I’d feel safe riding at night. Too many old folks with bad eyes, and that leaves you as your only defense. Although pitch dark would be safer than dusk.

I definitely agree with this but the amount of times a cyclist is hit and the driver leaves the scene is sickening.

After Gaylon Mosier was killed training on his bicycle and then a buddy of mine spent 1 week in a coma, that was enough for me to stay off the streets on a bicycle. No amount of laws, education, bike paths, are going to keep an evil person from hitting you or a careless person from looking at their phone. Sad to have this attitude but I need to keep living.

yeah dude, I would usually reply with at least some diplomacy to anything I strongly disagree with, but in this case I think a fuck the fuck off is sufficient.

Not all cyclists are bad. That said, some think they're invincible and own the world.

Be careful out there.

At least 3 of you are complete douchebags with assumptions. I'm a diehard conservative...I have never owned a fucking sack of shit HD, I positively complain about high taxes and the fucktards my money goes to support...I know a thing or two about taxes (I'm a CPA)...lifetime NRA member and by the looks of things, many of you are too fucking stupid to own a gun...you can have all the freedom you want, but it comes with a BIG price tag...Cali is a completely bankrupt shit hole from top to bottom (beautiful state ruined by politicians you numbnuts elected who are too stupid to operate a revolving door)...AND if you operate a bike on public roads designed for cars/trucks/motorcycles in this day and age, with everyone driving distracted, I think you should have your fucking head examined before it spills out whatever few brains you have left on the side of the road someday.

Ride a MTB.

Per usual, was going to post something nearly identical to @CM_84 and he’s done the work for me.

Typical, hypocritical advocate of ‘small’ (when it applies to restricting them or helping others) government.
