I am in the midst of this dilemma.

I recently bought a 2009 KTM XCF.

Little bit of a wild animal, and I like it.

But a nice 2017 Honda CRF450x just popped up, and my insides what to swap them out.

My brain is asking “Why?

First rule of motorcycles; the number you is need is N+1, where N is the current number you have.

Would love a matching 97 yz250 with my 97 yz125.... or just a brand new one. Or both! Woohoo

I know what you mean ....I REALLY REALLY want a matching 2003 KX125 to go with my 2003 KX250. I was so close to getting one and the story of what this idiot did is heartbreaking....complete lack of seller etiquette selling it to a random person after a weeks worth of messaging, confirming and trying to set up a time for me to come get it. Some dude randomly messages him the day of bec he was in the area and wanted to come "look at it" meanwhilebim only 15mins away and he sells it to this random guy after all the time and effort I put into lining it up. I'm still so pissed!

I have a "list" of bikes I have to own:
2003 KX125
89-04 KX500
2001-2006 RM250
2002-2007 CR250
1999-Current YZ250
1993-1996 CR250
1996-1998 KX250
Any decent 2005-up 450 for the occasional offroad and big hillclimbs at Carnegie

But with the RIDICULOUS prices people are currently asking for their older 2 strokes, my dream lineup is fleeting 😡
Wow that’s wild!

I’m with you on that though. I would also like a pair of RM 2 strokes to go with my 18 450 Laughing 2003-2007 Zook 2 strokes, oh and I would love to have a Yamaha from the 70s and the 80s Cool

And maybe an old Maico or something Cool a man can dream. Fuck a garage of cars, I just want dirtbikes Sideways

I think that mentality is great when you are totally willing to buy the new bikes every year or 2 (like I have for most of my life.) But now I am starting to realize that for Vet racing and track days, it is just a waste of money. So I am stuck in the middle of just enjoying /modding what I have and still wanting a new bike. I liked it better when I saw a new bike that I liked and just bought it w/o thinking twice lol.
Same here. I used to get a new bike every year through the 90’s and early 2000’s. I switched to every other year with four strokes. Now I have my 18 KX450, with everything I want on it, Ohlins suspension, etc. I catch myself looking at new bikes, until I realize I only have 30 hours on it and it’s dialed. Stupid to buy a new one at this point, especially as I get slower lol.

2004 KTM 200 EXC. The more I ride it, the more I like it. No need for anything else. Except wear parts. Can always use another set of tires.

I've been debating if I should just sell my 350 and buy a new YZ250 2stroke and keep/build both (the 250 and my current YZ125) of them as my "forever bikes." With how long they have been around, there is endless parts supply and both bikes can be made to do whatever I need to do, now that I race some Vet classes here and there and just ride for fun mostly. That is 1 way I would possibly end the back and forth of wanting a new bike every year. Seeing that video of Will Hahn's YZ250 last night didn't help me from leaning in that direction lol.

I’ve been restoring an old 1980 RM250T with the idea of racing vintage Mx on.
I’m now on the lookout for a 78 or 79 RM125 and a 89 or 94 RM250. The weird thing is that I was never a Suzuki guy growing up and I have pretty much had KTM’s since 1999. So currently have 7 bikes but still troll gumtree, eBay and other sites almost everyday.

We want what we don’t have. In my experience of switching bikes regularly, getting a new bike doesn’t solve the problem. There is most likely a larger problem at hand. I’m on year 3 of my yz250 and have no intention of getting anew bike.

Same here, I’m torn between a seat that folds all the way back or a tailgate the folds 19 different ways.
