Capital punishment is a legal
penalty in the United Arab Emirates. Under Emirati law, multiple crimes carry the death penalty, and executions are carried through either a firing squad, hanging, or stoning. ... Overseas nationals and UAE nationals have both been executed for crimes.

When a plan doesn't meet reality.

The thing reeks of over engineering yet under engineered at the same time.

A drone with a seat. Genius.

Maybe that thing is their newest form of capital punishment.

That looked like it must have been terrifying. Sketchy! He's lucky he didn't splatter himself like a bug.

Seems to me something like that should have an automated stability system and until that is functioning, tested, and reliability demonstrated no one should get on it. Also the control system needs far better feedback, after the back was smashed its obvious the front thrust caused the imbalance and flipped the bike, this should be 100% avoidable with proper thrust vectoring, feedback, and limits. Overall pretty cool, just seems rushed to a maned flight when all this could be done with manikins and robots.

However, mad props to the pilot, he sent it far higher than expected

Oh, and why the hell are they doing this over pavement? Brave.
Doesn’t need any of that, just needs a factory ECU

How long before they’re racing these things ?

Well the thing is a QUAD-copter after all. The outcome was inevitable.

Exactly. I can't wait for these things to be sorted out, safe (ish), and relatively affordable. I think there will be some sort of racing league within 15 years. The controls on that thing looked terrible and overly sensitive, but they'll figure it out. Once upon a time, my buddy and I both had tiny, nimble, fast airplanes. Our favorite thing to do was play follow the leader below tree top height through some huge cattle ranches in Central Florida. The big clumps of cypress trees made for an endless racecourse. Not the safest thing in the world, but safer (and 10x more exhilarating) than riding sport bikes on the street. These little quad copters will make that same feeling possible on a smaller, slower, safer scale.

Here is a video from over two years ago. It's hard to find anything more recent, but you know they are still working on them. Like a lot of things, battery tech is a main limiting factor for now.

It’s okay, they use prisoners as test pilots.
