So how are they breaking up the tv broadcast with one hour on nbc sports and the final 2 hours on nbc? Heat races on sports and then lcq and mains on nbc? Just to preface not complaining just curious how the plan the “flow” of the broadcast

Are you talking about just the regular NBC channel or also including the Gold pass?

I think I heard it somewhere that raceday live won't be broadcast which I'm assuming means even with Gold pass you won't get to watch qualifying. I'm not 100% sure though.

Regarding the timing of the switchover to NBC. Good question. Would be interesting if they started the broadcast on NBC with LCQ's (as all 4 heats should have been completed in the previous hour)

So will we be able to watch the full race through the gold pass, or will we have to switch over. Doesn’t seem like it would make sense to stop the broadcast through gold. Hell, I don’t have regular tv.

Edit: so I just checked the NBC app and it’s showing main race at 3 on Sunday so I’d assume that we’ll be able to catch the full race on the app.

Yes TV broadcast. Thru DirectTV guide it's on NBCSports for 1 hour and then NBC for 2 hours.

This is awesome. I was bummed to hear we may not see timed qualifying but looks like we will.

As for the regular TV broadcast, it appears they will have the normal qualifying on NBC Sports and switch over to NBC for the mains. I doubt they show the LCQ's on the normal broadcast. For all the people that bitched about the Gold pass and refunds, looks like we're about to get our money's worth.

So you think they will stretch out (2) 20 minute mains in a 2 hour broadcast? Guess 5 minute intro, commercial, 5 min track map/talk, commercial, Kawasaki science of supercross, commercial, recap of qualifying, commercial, mains, commercial, interviews - guess that would fill an hour then repeat for 450s. This is a great opportunity to get new eyeballs on the sport, but if they make the broadcast full of fluff I don't think it's going to help future viewership numbers.

Sounds about right. Another great reason for the Gold pass, to watch timed qualifying and during commercial breaks you get just a view of the track which sounds boring but it's a lot better than seeing the same commercials over and over.

I don't see why they just don't have the race from 3-6 on nbcsn while simultaneously having the 4-6 slot on NBC at the same time...

Prob cause they can make more money with something else in that slot, especially something their not already showing on another channel.

I was about to ask about this. Are they letting them put 2 bikes through tech to compensate? If a rider has any sort of bike trouble during a heat race, it's likely night over for them. Hell, it would be hard to change out a bent set of bars in 20 minutes with pushing it out to the pits and back, with more security measures for coming in/out in place I'm sure.

I get these are strange circumstances, but that short of a turnaround seems like a recipe for disaster. Can you imagine if Kenny or Eli blow a motor on the last lap of the heat, and can't make the start of the lcq?

Here's the times(MST) for the new format. Seems like this format (if used in the future), could open up the possibility of 250 Heats / LCQ's on NBC Gold, then have the remaining 2 hours of the program on NBC / NBC Sports/Gold Networks.

First part of program - 1 Hour
250 Heats: 1:04pm, 1:18pm
250 LCQ: 1:47pm

Second part of program - 2 Hours
450 Heats: 2:04pm, 2:18pm
450 LCQ: 2:47pm

Mains:
250 Main: 3:03pm
450 Main: 3:31pm

In my area we didn't get to watch the broadcast. They cancelled it to cover 3 hours of protests, and then 2 hours of horse racing. I was able to see the 250 heats and nothing else......

Sounds like a bunch of the bichy whiny complainers should have watched that instead. Give ‘em something else to complain about.

We don’t have Supercross for 85 days, it’s a hot day, a mellow track, a little bit of dust (better than lime), and some good racing. Absolutely nothing to complain about!

It was a tremendous effort for Feld / Utah / Factories / Privateers to put on a LIVE show to start the “2nd” season. Looking forward to the coming weeks and super pumped the next round is only 2 days away. 👍

Getting SX exposure on the main stream networks is paramount in growing the sport. We as fans need to be understanding with this and accept it for what it is. This little inconvenience is completely acceptable for the big picture.
