Was looking to get the vital communities recommendations as a starting point for 2018 YZ250 2t fork height and sag. Riding at 3 Palms in Houston. Terrain is intermediate/sandy.
Thanks

I run sag at 104. Fork height varies depending on the track. If its sand I run flush with the triple clamps, anything else I run 10mm up to get it to turn in quicker. Standard they come 5mm up, I then moved it to 7mm and turn in got better so I went to 10mm up and that is what I have stuck with. MXA also recommend that set up

Thanks guys, 3 palms is a bit different than my old local track. Old track was supercross style. It was good for and hour or two then would slowly dry out and get hard packed. 3 palms has fast straights and is sandy. It’s good to get a reference so you can save a day or two chasing your tail.

I'm gonna go against the grain on this one and say no more that 100mm of sag and forks about 5mm up. I'm a little bit on the taller side at 6' and have some decent leverage on the bike, so for me I'll gladly trade some stability for a more planted front end. The YZs and RMs have always felt low and long to me and I want weight on the front even in the sand.

For me, standard 105 sag and 5-7 mm fork height. They don’t like to turn with less than 5mm.

I ride 3 Palms also. 2015 yz250. 105 and flush with the clamps with stock setup. I just upgraded to Ride Engineering 23.5 clamps and link. Still run flush with 105. Bike turns way better.

Congrats on new ride. You're going to love it. Such a fun bike to ride.

Came to say this exact same thing.

100mm sag and 5mm up on forks maximum.

I ran more like 106-108 when I had one but I also used 22mm offset clamps. No matter what I tried, the front end would push with the stock clamps.

Mine all pushed horrible. I gave up and ran a whole nesc series on my new 18 without touching clickers or sag. Lol it worked great and i have sent my prior 5 yz 250s off to factory connection for revalves. Had me rethinking my logic.

Forgot to say that I have 22mm clamps as well running flush and 105.
