Gear Bag Organization

Edited Date/Time 8/24/2020 7:07pm
How are you guys organizing your moto gear bags? I just got an OGIO 9800 and I was surprised how little organizing space there was. It's as huge bag, but it's really just two large caverns.

I grabbed some travel bags off of amazon to start the journey, but wanted to see what others might be doing.

I did some research on bags and end up buying the Fox Shuttle, it seem Like a pretty simple set up, Helmet on one end and Boots on the other end. Jersey, pants, gloves in the middle and goggle case on top. I’ll take some pictures of how I got it setup tomorrow

I know what you mean I’ve been using a small msr bag I won in race from like 2006 so this is the first actual bag I’ve bought and I think it will last for awhile, I don’t have to remember to grab my helmet bag, goggles bag, gear bag, boots etc.. cause everthing is in one big bag

https://www.cyclegear.com/accessories/trackside-optima-gear-bag (dunno why this link won’t load)

1. Cheap
2. HUGE

Put 1 boot in each end zipper pocket and dump EVERYTHING else in the main pocket.

I love this bag. I could hide a medium sized body in there.

I run the tld gear bag. To my surprise it is very small and requires some Tetris skills to make it all fit. Boots on either end, knee braces on bottom chest protector next then helmet. Your pants, jersey and under gear gets out around your helmet. Just don’t take any more then two sets of gear. If you are looking for one bag to do it all check out the FXR gear bags. Very large compared to anything else.

I have a Zulz bag and really love it. I thought it was cool how it had shelves in it when standing up. I've seen pics where its been hung on the wall of a trailer like a cabinet.

I use one like this, from bobs though I think. $30 and built well with quality YKK zippers. Why anyone buys the $200 is beyond me, unless you are using it to go on an airline. Also, the waterproof hardcase boxes ar Home Depot for took storage work well too. Husky brand, $50, hard shell and waterproof.

WOW, that Zeus bag has some good organization bits to it. I was really surprised how little the RIG 9800 had once I got it.

The prices of these guys seems a bit ridiculous as well. Peak Design sells bags with way more design esthetic, compartments and organizational capabilities at around the same cost.

I have an old Ogio 9800 that works great.

Once you make the investment into it, it literally lasts forever. If you buy a Fox bag for instance and wear a different gear brand, who cares really.

Staying organized, that's tough...

I have a TLD for myself that I've owned since 2004 and it's still going strong. There's a Rig 9800 that I use for my kids but I don't like it as much; it's big but somehow you can't fit much into it. I think it's because of the rounded top shape.

I have a big alpinestars bag I've used for like 9 years and its still going strong. One end holds your boots separate which is nice Then one big main compartment you can fit everything else in. Then on the opposite end is a smaller compartment which fits my 100% Goggle case and I keep a bunch of extra socks, gloves, etc in there. It has side pockets too which I keep my PED's, ear plugs, band aids, etc in. The other thing I love is the interior is bright yellow so you can actually see inside the bag. Ones with black interiors make no sense once you have one with the yellow interior.

Somehow all I got out of that was PED's...

Have an Ogio 9900 that’s about 10 years old. Will last another 10. Got it used for about $100. The wheels on a big bag are priceless.

The sled on my 9800 is the biggest selling point vs other bags that hold up well but when weighted down will definitely wear quick on the bottom. Went through 2 bags in just a couple years and I've had my Ogio for over 10 years and it's still what I used today.

Man, just seeing pictures of that bag already makes me miss my older OGIO. I really liked having the separate sections on the ends for the boots and helmet.

Man, the more I watch the ways other riders have had to organize their 9800, the more I see a huge space in OGIO's bag line up. If they made a set of bags that fit in the 9800 to organize those caverns, they'd sell a shit ton. I also know the bag should just come with that option to begin with, but if you think about it from a build what you need perspective, it would be a crazy line for bags and storage capabilities. Peak Design definitely does it well and is a great example if anyone from OGIO is reading this Wink

I just use a small bag as I'm a one-set-of gear guy. But multiple socks, gloves and undershirts.
So I just label the compartments to keep things straight. Wash when olfactory levels become noticeable
from a distance.

I love my OGIO 9800s, the only downside: I can’t fit wheels into them...

This was for a trip from Ireland to SoCal, I figured it would be cheaper and way more fun to bring my 125 with me.

I spent winter in SoCal riding/training 4-5 days a week.
I actually took it as hold luggage on my flight with British Airways. In their flight restrictions they have written clearly that you can take an internal combustion engine as long as its pre-approved. I figured why not give it a go!
Funny thing is not 1 person questioned all the luggage or opened any of the bags, it worked out great.

I left the bike in SoCal with the plan of going back in May and September, but I doubt the coronavirus will leave me dreaming about my 125 all year now instead Laughing Laughing

Was going to say the same thing. You guys don’t sweat? I have a large fox that I just retired. (Still in excellent condition???) boot on each end and everything else in the middle.

Just bought army surplus bags for my son and I. “Flight kit bags” on ebay. ~30$. Leave boots out, Everything else in when clean. Once home After the ride, Leave knee braces and helmet out til dry then re pack for next ride. Try to keep the stinch out of the bag.

Use old pillow case as a dirty gear container inside of the gear bag. Easy to pull and throw in the wash.

I just got the new OGIO T3 on May 6th. Scored it for ~$408 (with free shipping) on some random sight when they weren't even available yet. It took a month and a half to get here. I looked just now and its $498. ouch.

The "square end" on the top give a bunch more room instead of the tapered old helmet area. I use it for RC Car racing and traveling around with expensive electronics and chargers.

I dont really use the Helmet and the Boot bags. I just needed the extra room the T3 has in the top area. I dont see myself using the boot bag or the helmet bag for my busted old enduro gear. If anyone saw me show up to the track and pull out my scratched sweaty dirty old gear they (and Me) would laugh myself out of there.

THe best new feature is when its closed it has a new "smaller area" zipper access flap on the top that you can open without opening the whole thing. Nice for grabbing oils and cleaners quickly. It sucks having to zip the whole thing open to grab one little thing.

Prior to this I had a 9800 that had 6 years on it and it was still brand new feeling. Sold it to a friend to fund this one.

Here is a size comparison of the 9800 and the T3. It holds more "square" items instead of just the Transmitter bag in the old tapered area of the 9800.

You guys put your boots back in the bag after you ride?

I always keep my boots separate.
