KX60 2004??

Edited Date/Time 3/25/2020 1:03pm
Here in the UK, I worked at a Kawasaki dealership in the early/mid 2000s.

In 2001 Kawasaki sold the KX60 AND the KX65.
For 2002 the 60 was dropped and only the 65 was available from there on.. (Note the 2001 models had green painted frames)

A friend of mine has just bought a used KX60, with grey frame, a sticker on the frame dated 2004 and a ‘Canadian’ compliance sticker on the frame. The frame looks to be original paint.

My question is, was the KX60 available in the USA and/Or Canada for a few years after it was discontinued in the UK??

Yes, production ended in November 2003 for this model series...Sold in certain markets only. This in the image below has the decals from the '2004' model year...

As a fan of the sport and Kawasaki, I wish they’d update the 65 to be more competitive. But I can’t ride a 65 so I guess it shouldn’t matter to me Lol

the KX65 has not has a longer model run as the KX60,
and since the bottom ends are basically the same, thats a dam long run

I'm 42 years old and I miss the KX60. Such a great bike and I have so many great memories. My last year on the 60 was 1987. I had a sick TUF racing one that was awesome.

They changed it slightly for 2003 raising the seat height an inch or two, and moved to a different shock and fork in '06

I LOVED my KX60. I went from a pretty unreliable auto to one of these and it was like the thing was bomb proof.

Team Green sent me a batch of them when they were first released, late 82. I had just turned 9 at Ponca, my last race on Pee Wee's. I saw the new 83 KX's on display, and watched Hank Moree literally run away with the Mod 60 class on a pre-pro KX60....that was all it took. That little thing sounded soooo much better than the 82 YZ 60, looking back they were not even close. Luckily, I acquired one of my 83 KX-60's awhile back that was only about 20 miles from me all these years later. It is in need of a full restore, but thankfully all there. I'm looking for some parts here and there, gonna tear into it this summer. I'll post some pics of it in it's current state tomorrow eve..... Those bikes were a game changer.

I remember when Chris Hill in Oz got the 83 KX60 before they were released and the same that bike in one race meeting made the YZ60 obsolete. He creamed the comp and yep that bike sounded so different and snappy

Probably the most intimidating bike I ever rode haha
Wouldn't have minded shares in kx60 rear guards either haha.. We ended up doin the 80 swingarm trick, which helped

Rad scoops! First fall on the right side and the bottom corner of the rad scoop would snap off!

Surely Kawasaki could’ve rounded it off or something to make it less of a sharp point?!

They changed it slightly for 2003 raising the seat height an inch or two, and moved to a different shock and fork in '06
2000/01 were shorter with a different frame, forks (and rather odd jetting).
03 was the first year of grey frames so the Kawazuki thing could happen.
I'm pretty sure the fork & shock haven't seen any kind of significant changes since 02. Still damper rods up front and the same design in the rear.

Some years have different shock with steel clevis and no rebound adjustment. Fork was still damping rod fork, but they changed the design slightly.
