At the RCSX she announced an NFL style motocross combine for 50 amateurs invite only to be held at Fox Raceway and another one at Ironman nationals. This will allow the riders to show off their talents in front of teams on an actual national track on national weekend! Seems like a great idea. The only thing I would add to it is like the NFL a player can “walk on” and try out. Limiting it to 50 invited riders is good but I think adding 5 or 10 walk ons would be sweet! From what she says the teams have been requesting this for a while now.... Hard to believe there’s been no talk of this on vital. Nothing gets by you guys. Haha. Let’s hear some thoughts.

That sounds like a great plan, any route to get more eyeballs on fresh faces is a good thing.

You have a link to a press release announcing this event? Curious to see the details.

even more impressive would be all stock set up bikes like the kawasaki ROC back in the 80s. no big bores or high dollar suspension. cream rises to the top right?

Press release coming soon I think. She explained it better on the live broadcast but I think I hit most of it.

You can't "walk on" at the NFL combine. It's by invitation only, and limited to players who receive the minimum number of votes from NFL teams.

Thanks. Must be thinking college football. But you get the point. 50 top amateur invites is great. But that still leaves out a few fast local guys that cant make it to Loretta’s or any of the big races, but can still haul ass and deserve a shot to prove themselves in front of the teams.

Sounds interesting. I wonder if individual type fitness testing would be included, strength, flexibility, medical history etc.?
I think the Wonderlic test would be a good idea!

Don't most of the national venues already host an amateur day on Friday and/or sunday?

If the scouts felt the need to watch upcoming talent wouldn't they just need to walk up to the track.

They could scout everything from 50cc to local A class riders.

I think the EMX series is something better to emulate, then a once a year combine at one track. That's basically Loratta's isn't it??

Super mixed feelings on this. I've watched the "invite only" phase of Monster Cup for All-Stars and Supermini and watched riders with the right relationships or bought rides getting invites over guys who beat them without those relationships or financials.

At the same point, that was at the time the best way to see the up and coming guys perform on SX, so it was a positive.

I just prefer a qualification system versus "invite only".

Trying to not judge too harshly without more details, but hope it's considered. My guess is the OEMs are helping support this which is why they would want it to have an invite criteria to get their guys they are spending money on to get in.

Yep, the whole point of this is to force all of the oem backed riders to race each other on a national track with long motos to see how they are stacking up. The amateur racing is nothing like National motos. it would be nice to eventually have a series mixed in with the nationals, an East/west amateur class to feed into the national series. Get your license and everything.
