Thought I would give this thread a bump to see if anyone has installed the 16-18 450 plastics on the 05-07 KX250...? Lots of 03-04 Kx250s adopting the 250F plastics, and 03-05 Kx125's also, but slim pickings for the 05-07's with 450 plastics. Any info is appreciated.

They haven't been the same since '15.

Kawi 250 and 450 plastics were the same 06-08 and 09-11 (except for colour of # plates). They haven't had the same plastics on both bikes since 2012.

That's the exact look I'm going for...minus the graphics. I would like to know the difference in frame's from 03-04 (as pictured above) vs 05-07 KX 250's. Thanks Mav.

Pretty much the same other than the upper shroud where it bolts to the tank. Very minor for sure.

There is no difference in the frame from 03-07 except maybe the exhaust bracket that changed in 2004.

Sorry, I couldn't tell you. I rode an '05 KX 125 once and I didn't like it. I found the rear end to be high. That's my extent of experience with Kawasaki.

I prefered my '04 YZ 125.

I was under impression the frames were the same just with a different swingarm. I took a quick look and they're indeed different.

I'll admit, the newer style bodywork on the KX looks good. Can't say the same for the CR's or RM's.

The frame is different - as the 250 received an updated frame and engine in 2005. Plastic fitment should be the same, I would have thought. (I have a kx125 not a 250).

That's what I figured, but wanted to make sure. The only difference that I see in the 03-04 is the lower frame area has four ribs...where the lower part of boots would rub...and the 05-07 is smooth. Thanks Riverock.

Oh no, I'm back to square one again, lol. I've purchased the 16-18 tank, airbox, and... subframe that I purchased and waiting for from Vitalmx member vbm111 (great guy btw). I guess I'll be the test dummy...lol.

Don't worry.. for your purposes of restyling the minor changes in the chassis won't make any difference. 03-07 plastics are all interchangeable. I did a frame up KX250 build.

03-04 frame had ankle ridges on the frame. 05-07 is smooth. that's the first thing i look for to identify.

that and the water pump placement. they positioned it higher on the new motor for 05-07 to protect it better.

I didn’t know that’s why you needed that subframe... good luck with the conversion!

I like mine the way they came from the factory, that damn thing wore me out today!!!

I know your bike is stock, other than a few item's, but it sure knows how to look good anytime a camera is around. Seriously !

I'm pretty sure you'll be fine. While the frame changed, the mounting points for plastics and subframe should have stayed the same (otherwise it would have cost Kawi money to have altered everything).

Bike looks really good. Although nothing could pull me away from stock plastics. lol.

Those forks (colour) look awesome - are they stock kxf450 ones?

Meanwhile you’re running an ‘89 style look. Sort of hypocritical one could say?

Ledger I don't think my pics will help you much, the newest restyle kit wasn't available when I did my build.
I still like the result with some upgraded and modified plastics.

Oh lordy...your bike is a stud ! I really like what you've done with the sideplates... opening the intake to increase airflow and lightly trimming the rear of the plate gives it more detail...I always thought the muffler side plate was bulky looking compared to the other side. I see a few obsolete part's that are drool worthy, especially the (Pro Circuit cover). Shrouds look to be from the 06-08 250F/450F ? If the 16-18 KX 450 conversion I'm starting can't be solid, I may ask you for more up close detailed pic's, because that's the direction I'll go. Thank you for taking the time to post your KX, and I can honestly say it's one of the best looking bike's I've ever seen from that generation.

Alright everyone I pulled the trigger and ordered the kit from them, $580 Canadian all included shipped to my door, it was shipped really quick from Spain which was sweet took about a week. Plastics seem decent same with the seat and seat over. From first glance it looks like the plastics are stock '19 250f with some very slight mods to them and then you get a huge thing of mounts and an 18 step install sheet for how to put it together haha. But according to their site if you mangled a plastic in a crash you can order individual from them or buy 2019 250f plastics from your local shop and just copy what they tweaked on them to make it fit with the mounting hardware which is sweet. Hope to have these mounted in the next couple weeks and I'll post pics of it done. Cheers!

You'll be the first to give a report on the pro's and con's of this kit. Wink I purchased a TX kit years ago to update the look of my 2005 CR 250 and was pleased with the outcome...the seat was a huge surprise, it was as good as OEM Honda quality, and that's noteworthy. Anyway, good luck.

Looks good, how did you get the pipe like that? Is it a PC Pipe that was torched for the cone look? Also, Was this picture taken up at Joes track? if yes, we should meet up there for a ride!

I have a few pipes for the bike, one pictured is actually a DEP with a piperepair cone finish. I also have a FMF works fatty for the 05-07 that I can't use if you or anyone's interested. Joes's track was great for the photo shoot although riding there is hit 'n miss weather dependent. Maybe see ya at Western?

I've never been much of a fan of the restyle kits. They did a really good job on this one, considering. I am not a huge fan of the stock Kawi 2 stroke plastic to begin with, but I do think this kit improves on it. Either way, it's good to finally have a Kawi option for people who are looking for something.
