Daytona looks more like the 2000 Daytona SX than the 2020 Daytona SX. Not complaining, just noticed a lot less jumps than previous years.

You're right, it looks like a much better race track as well with less jumps. I hope they put telephone poles out there.

And last time this track map was brought up, all we did was bitch about the loop around on the start!

I read Ricky tried to give it a historical feel with it being the 50th Daytona. Pretty cool.

Yeah, my brother was asking me about that too. I think they stopped doing the loop around 2010.

Halla-flippin-lou-yah! A track where a "dirt bike" might find an actual purpose, as opposed to what supercross normally requires, which is more of an "air bike" that occasionally lands on dirt for a split second or two.

That's that plan, however, can't imagine there will be much grass left by the time the heat races start.

Since it's the 50th year anniversary, RC designed it with more of a nod to the history of the event rather that a typical SX track it's started to become. I think it will be awesome!

Carmichael’s course design features a nod to the history of the DAYTONA Supercross and includes elements from past DAYTONA courses such as the over-the-wall jump, the DAYTONA tunnel jump and grass as a fourth racing surface; the DAYTONA logo will also be displayed in the center of the extended course.

“It was really important to bring back some of these old-school elements to the 50th annual DAYTONA Supercross,” Carmichael said. “Think of all the years and talent that has come through Daytona and the DAYTONA Supercross, we had to bring something back that was going to be special.”

Are we going to see complications with that start and first turn? Reminds me a bit of 2009.. 1:09:39

Most "outdoor'ish" track we've seen in years... Tomac will be good, but it might also be a bit more mixed up than what we've seen so far this year. Could have a Baggett or Osborne moment... Or many others.

Great year of racing so far!

Yes, very. Riders safety should always be considered first.

Regular Daytona crowd is willing to take a sheared off NASCAR approved throttle body to the face while downing ten buck beers

That start is worth a few overpriced beers to a tona fan

Yeah that’s odd. Hardly any jumps at all.

My son and I have raced the Daytona Amateur SX every year. This is the 11th year for it. After the last two years, I said I was done with it, but the track design got me to sign up again this year.

The first 8 years of the race, MX Sports did a great job taming the track down, but still keeping it fun and challenging for everyone. The last two years in my opinion was horrible for the Vets and many of the amateurs. The track was very technical, the one section was horrible, and there were crashes in that section all day long.

So hopefully they took some of the feed back from the last couple years, and they will go back to making the track fun again for everyone on Sunday and Monday. Keep so many people out of the infield care center.

Anyone who tangles bars and gets run over on the start is going to get run over 21 more times when the whole pack comes around again. Laughing Ah, I shouldn't laugh. I hope it doesn't happen.
