Let me first make clear that my motivation/intent is to try and duplicate the tracks we see the guys race. In both appearance and ridability. It can be very easy to duplicate the lines by spacing objects so far apart that in the game we are forced to double that or triple that but then you have this flat line between jumps. However when you look at the real track those jumps are spaced very close together in comparison. We are always trying to tame the bike in these games.

Trying accomplish this in MCM2 required hours upon ours of work in Photoshop in order to hand paint the displacement map. Object shape, height, transition vert, was all painstakingly done by hand. Being able to do this one thing good separated the real good guys from the rest. Guys like MIKE MACH, RON RON, TWISTED, MAUI COOL, DIZ_NO_REBASE etc. This in turn gave me a gnarly case of carpel tunnel. So bad that when I was still racing I had issues on hard landings. My right hand would grab a handful of throttle on my 450. Not fun. That's why I quit making tracks back then.

FF to today. I'd say it is more fun for me to do it this way for the one reason that it is simply easier. As this game has progressed the editor has been updated and made it easier for us to create realistic looking/riding tracks.

So when this version came out I have to admit I yelled at my TV more than a few times in question as to why they would go backward with the editor? One question why not duplicate every object used through out the season? Split lane jumps, Elevated step on/off turns, etc.

I really am thankful to Milestone for making these games. But I hope they listen to us too. They have in the past so we'll just have to see.

Man, I used to thoroughly enjoy riding all of the Supercrooss tracks you made for MCM2 back in the day! The amount of hours I had in that game, and the longevity your tracks gave the game is immeasurable! Glad to have the opportunity to thank you for it here on this forum!!

I haven't really enjoyed a Motocross game since the MCM2 days to be honest. I have MES2 but really don't play it, however after hearing your comments and review on the game I will give it another try.

Those were the days man. Countless race sessions till dawn. Thanks for the kind words.

Have they fixed the issue in this game of getting into an online match? I want to buy this game but do not want to spend the money if it takes 20 minutes to get into an online match like it did in #2.

RACING:
The bad. The bike feels way lighter maybe too light. You can now quad stuff out of the turns. The jumping characteristics have gone away from the more weighted and predictable feel of the last two MES games and are now resembling the MX ALL OUT bikes. They bounce super high and super fast. They fall back down to earth in the same way. A consistent feel between the jump combos has been lost. These things all take away from the realism factor. A negative for me personally. The tough blocks are still a little too tough. Not at slow speed but at any speed out of 1st gear. It would be nice to be able to ride along side them, clip them coming out of a turn etc with out being blown off like an IED.


The good. The counter weight steering is finally gone. In MES 2 you had to carefully yank the right stick to the opposite direction of the turn you intend to make. This had to be done perfectly in order to rail the berm and maintain speed. This one thing kept the bike from handling nearly perfect. Good riddance to that. This bike can corner way tighter, rail berms, point and shoot, all very well. And I think this one improvement is what we are all experiencing when we say this game is a lot of fun. Because it is. The acceleration is also improved (cause it's lighter?). Wheelies are better. Braking is better.

THE EDITOR
The bad. Can't reverse the direction of the obstacles any more, harder to switch between obstacle categories as now you have to exit each category then choose the new one etc. You can't just shuffle through open categories side by side. The courser goes back to the start when you change the categories. It is much harder now to drag an obstacle around the track that is already been partially built and place it over other objects. That object jockeys back and fourth two small spaces and does not want to drop exactly where it needs to be. So you have to delete from where you have built all the way back to the intended modification. When negotiating at the edges of the track you hit an invisible objects? every Finish line has a 30 foot flat apron before the transition disallowing creators to place objects closer to the finish? WHY WHY WHY? No split lane jumps. No elevated jump on/off turns stuff we been asking for since MES 1. I SIMPLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE THOUGHT BEHIND ALL OF THIS. Why offer a new version of a game that has more limitations than even the 1st edition? This was supposed to the the "unlimited editor".

The good Clicking around is smoother. The menus are faster. The whole thing loads faster. Sand sand sand everywhere you want it! A lot of new objects. Objects visually resemble the real thing looking very peaky etc. Editor bike sounds like a 2 stroke.


MILESTONE PLEASE READ THIS.


If you weight & and slow the bike just a tad, slow down the freaky jump bounce action, bring the consistency in handling in the jump combos back, fix all that stuff in the editor you will have released the product that should be.

You must play as much as I do lol. I agree with everything. Everyone bitches about how they want Reflex back so that's the in-air crazy handling we get and the "lightness" that seemed to come out of nowhere. There really wasn't anything wrong with the physics in MXGP19 which is very similar to the physics in supercross but they made the in air handling different as well as the lightness. The handlling/turning is very similar in MXGP in my opinion.

Also yes, they need to fix the tough blocks. Even touching them lightly puts you on the ground...I laughed out loud at the IED cause that's exactly what it is.

What I did with 2 was make my left toggle steering as well as leaning forward and back.. I had to also make X gas and square brakes and that's pretty much my only choice
Yeah you could play it like that. Dunno about the harder settings. It is definitely feasible.

I believe they just recently released an update that fixed that issue. Haven’t played the game yet to verify though.

I don’t like that either, also I got kicked off a team while leading points because I finished 3rd a few times I was pissed

Spent another 7 hours last night working with the editor. I made SPX 2020 SX R2 (ST LOUIS). As soon as I can set a decent lap I'll upload a hot lap video.

Milestone actually got back to me. Basically just telling me they would take my requests into consideration for the next update. I certainly hope so. Either way glad they are listening.

This game is a lot of fun. With just a few tweaks this game could be so freakin good. Here's to the future!

Also sent over a few pics of the start straight glitch. Hope they fix this too.

Same thing happened to me. I have been racing career with rewind off so its pretty hard to get first all the time. I was in first with a mixed bag of finishes. KTM red bull dropped me but I was able to sign with Yamaha.

Can confirm that -5 on the rear settings and the front at 0 has the bike work way better in the whoops and seems to help keep momentum up in rhythm sections!

Just try 5th gear and both sticks backward in the whoops haha
Looks like the toughblocks will be fixed in a next update.

I am not sure what you mean about it not working? Just click down on the left stick when you are in the user created, custom, online track menu. Then type SPX and hit search. All my stuff comes up so far..

You are correct. You can use a slight left hole-shot piece and then stick a right handed 90 berm after it. Wink
I have asked since MES1 to make the starts reversible by down clicking the left stick...

Does anyone else feel like the game alters the gravity at times to force certain lines? I don’t know how else to explain it but that’s what it feels like. I’ve noticed it on all the Milestone games.

The KTM sound is now much better thanks to the update. The rider also keep looking forward in the air now and the tear off is a good addition for first person racers

They REALLY need to add an option to eliminate rain from career or championship.

On the 2ND 450 season in San Diego, every single race has been downpour except Glendale. Not wet track after rain, but raining during qual, heat and main... for all except one.

Sweet Jesus lol

I'll keep the tuffblocks of satan to race a sweet track dry.

I’m on board with this. The rain just really takes the fun away for me. I can race in it just fine but it just sucks. And to top it off it’s way too frequent in career mode.
