Kevin Harlan would be the absolute best guy to call the race. You could get away with never looking at the TV and be able to picture anything and everything that’s going on.

I didn't think we needed another British voice on the show but... now that Ralph is back I'm begging for the Limey. Ralph is a great guy and really likable on Pulp interviews but man the announcing is not good. He is always speaking to the lowest common denominator, it makes me nuts.

I agree. I think Ralph could be on his way out. Bring back the Brit hes good, fresh & different.. RC is good his slant will always be unique because hes RC. It appears to me from the SX vids JS7 is doing that RC is keeping that seat warm until Bubba wants it. James is a natural but im assuming he doesn't want to or know if he could do a whole season. I hope he does. Would be great for the sport and i dont think any other announcer type could ever expect to do that.

Tuning in to the broadcast with Ralph in the booth is like watching the movie Groundhog Day. RC was a a lot better in 3 weeks with Diffey. Ralph makes my head want to explode!

How on earth do basketball announcers make it so you don’t need to watch ? You can visualize where they are on the court. Wish Ralph...

Wish Ralph could paint a picture with his words. All he paints is hometown crowd this. Hometown crowd that. Riding the bike with more intensity. Blah blah. Could be better. Kevin Kelley, Wes kain and weege would anniliate that announcers booth.
Why do you want a TV announcer to "paint a picture", when you can just watch it with your own eyes? I want the play-by-play guy to clarify things that I'm watching.

Yes and ralph does a great job of clarifying the on track action talking about llama fun facts, zipper malfuntions, mid week theatre visits, the musquins cats, the riders favorite non moto hobbys, on and on.

Ralph and RC didn’t notice Bagget pull that big 3-3 for the first time all day in his heat race.
I’m glad Reed brought that up and then mentioned it when Eli pulled the trigger on it.
Oh and following Malcolm around whilst there was a battle between KR, ET and BB?? I was screaming at the TV- what a joke!
Bagget should of been a contender in the main, he was just as good as ET in the heat. Must of been buried on the start.
Anyways Reed was a great addition to the booth!

I would say it's very likely these are production decisions.

Apparently Ralph was given a bit of a timeout for the first 3 rounds this year. If production didn't like his personal stories about the riders, they would have told him not to do it, and he wouldn't be doing it now.

Sometimes they will even cut to Will Christien, and she will be telling one of those personal stories, and there is a change in the race leader, but they still stick with Will's story.

TV producers are always looking for human interest stories. There must be some evidence to suggest it's what most viewers want. Try watching "Shark Tank". At least once per episode they have somebody start crying because they had an uncle who was sick one time, so they really need an investment in their company.

Then they should can the producer and Ralph. If it was all up to production we would have been saying the same negative things about Leigh, but we didn't.

Reed was talking candid without the need to keep a marketing guy happy by dropping in all the long winded sponsor and team names. This made it easier to sound good.

Ralph came across much better than in past races. Mainly because there was more talking about the race as it happened instead of the silly what might happen.

Reed instantly upped RC's game. Reed mentioned the triple out, RC chimed right in. Reed also mentioned wheel-tapping a certain section - RC picked up on it.

RC and Ralph just do not work. RC can do the job, he just needs help directing his commentary to the track/race, not about zippers and movie theaters.

Ralph is simply terrible at this job. Once he gets going about what so and so ate last week, he just cannot stop no matter what is happening on the track. The bits of throwing it down to raceside commentators WC and DB is also pretty much useless.

All you have to do is listen to RC/Emigs podcast and you will realize immediately why neither of them belong at the top of the announcing chain. I cannot understand why we need a retired rider in the booth. Weege and Kevin Kelly would be awesome.

Is it just me or when they cut to Will Christien the volume is always lower?
