Barcia's trainer - PED offender

Edited Date/Time 1/5/2020 7:14pm
I'm not making any assertions about Justin Barcia, because he's always been talented, fast, and hard working. But it does strike me as a bit odd to learn that he's working with Tom Danielson off the bike. It seems to me that being trained by a multi-time World Tour doping offender, who was fully immersed in the Lance doping scandal, isn't great for PR...

My end game? It’s to make an observation. Mind blowing concept, isnt it? what’s your end game with asking me such a stupid question?

If I made any assertion, it’s that it’s an odd partnership from an appearance perspective...but I’d love to hear your brilliant comment that would “get you clicked”

?

In a podcast/interview with Weege last year, Barcia expressed very candidly that he is super careful about having EVERYTHING that goes in his body approved/tested by his trainer. AKA, I don't think anyone is trying to be fishy with WADA here.

Never said anything about getting fishy with WADA, did I? My point is simply that there are plenty of competent trainers out there, and aligning oneself with someone who was caught doping in high level sport, quite recently, is surprising.

I'm not sure what your point is, or what you're trying to imply, then.

As long as Barcia keeps pissing clean, it seems like everything you've said in this thread is your problem, not his.

The optics of Barcia and his trainer are fine for me.

Can’t a guy get a second chance in life?

Regardless of his past he’s a very knowledgeable person

Sure they can - and he deserves a second chance in life. It’s another topic whether or not offenders should be granted a second chance (or third, here) within professional sport...

I personally think it’s a poor decision for a professional athlete to surround themselves with someone with his background, and also think it’s disappointing that we continue to see ex-doping era cyclists and coaches find their way into moto.

You think it reflects poorly. Obviously Barcia and his sponsors don't, so like I said before; as long as he's pissing clean, the optics are your problem, not his.
