I was there for his Pro Debut as a young kid and to be there for his last was pretty cool.
especially the atmosphere within the stadium. thousands of people with a tear in there eye and the roar through out the stadium was purely amazing.
It beats me attempting my first National, camping in a tent with my fiancé in 30 degree weather for a race, it was just insane.
The 250's were still up for grabs!
The 450's had some great close racing!
A full gate of 125s, that was decided on the last lap!
And it really hurts me to say this.....the 4 wheeler National. I really didn't think you could jump an easy chair with wheels that far!

My first time there, a great track, easy to get into and out of, great viewing almost everywhere.
West Lafayette was a great place to stay, great restaurants, good places to party and play.

Matt Goerke -walking- out of the Hospital last week.
The crowd blew up and it was crazy.
1). In 2005 three MCM2 team VET members from www.thezone.com flew out from back east. We hung out in town Friday night, then headed to THE MUDDER at A1. It was a blizzard on the way down from Big Bear to A1. Rained all day. It was a blast and that race is now a stand out round in history.
2). In the early 90's I was riding a private SX track off El Toro Rd owned by the Baldwin Brothers (I think?). I was there with my local pro brother in law Joe Tuttobene. I was out on the track alone singling everything. Bike was lit, my kit was sano. Up rolls the Dr and Bradshaw. As Damon was unloading he looks out at me, then looks at my brother in law and asks " Who's the Spode?" Hence my screen name ever since.
Damon was my idol back then. I could barely speak when I saw him. I felt like Kramer from Seinfeld. As I came in to rest my bro went out. He was doing this section that was a right hand bowl turn then a hump then a gout then a large table. My bro kept flat landing on the end of the the table and bouncing down. Damon walks over to me and says, "Tell your friend to not let off over the hump, just keep it pinned over that hump and he will clear the table to the downside. Damon was right. I was amazed at how he could see the slightest issue.
Later when they were done burning laps they began to launch off the inside of that same bowl turn and clear a fence and then a HUGE culvert on the outside of the entire track. You know the kind with the huge boulders lining both sides? Blew me away.
