Is he really? I believe he's talking about the 2020 season (subtitles say 2021, but he doesn't say that). He does mention that Gasgas bikes will be available as 2021 model (but most likely available mid 2020).

If you listen to him from 3:15 - 3:22 he exactly says: "so it will be Coldenhoff on a 450 next year, which is also a good choice".
He also talks about why Prado isn't on a GasGas: because the decision was made late...
I guess it's not a late decision if he's talking about the 2021 season (than it would be early if you ask me), but about the 2020 season.

Coldenhoff signed a 2 year contract with Standing Construct last year, so he doesn't even have a contract for 2021 yet.

Hey, being a Taddy super fan I am excited for him to go to GG as it will be a cool change. Sure, it will be primarily a red KTM but you know what, I am completely ok with that. Before KTM took over Husky the brand was all but dead. And now you see white and orange everywhere. The same will happen for red. There will still be differences just like there are between KTM and Husqvarna so I'm cool with it. Bummer they will lose the KYB suspension but it would make zero sense to keep it if you are KTM.

I think there is a bit of irony and fate to it as well as when Taddy went to Erzberg in 2007 that he was on a GasGas EC250 that he and his brother built out of a couple of bikes. He did great in the prologue on the GG whereas then KTM offered him a bike to ride. He then won Erzberg and the rest was history.

What still isn’t clear is are we talking 2020 or 21? Because as of right now there aren’t KTM/GG bikes yet. The SuperEnduro season starts in less than a month, don’t see Taddy racing a GG 300 2t. So will he still be on a KTM or will they slap some red plastic on his Factory 350 KTM?

Maybe the other manufacturers should step up a little. Rather than knock a company for producing a ton of good bikes doesn't it make sense to knock the companies that don't? There's a huge market out there for competitive bikes outside of the MX world and KTM (and maybe yamaha) seem to be the only ones interested in taking advantage of that. You have all these companies that only focus on one discipline. You have Honda, Suzuki and kawi only concerned with mx. Then you have sherco, beta and a few others only focused on offroad. At least the KTM brand understands both are very important to this sport and focuses on all disciplines. I just don't understand dogging one of the best companies in the business.

I got the impression it was next year. He said model year 21 which would be June to September of 2020. I think maybe Taddy debuts on the new GasGas at the beginning of next year's WESS series. But just speculating.

The market drives these companies. KTM owns the dirt bike market and needs a trials bike. I have a Gas Gas and would welcome a KTM engine in one. I also have the factory WP suspension on my bikes and its equally as good as the A kit stuff. KTM is a business and obviously doing something right.

I agree. I find it hard to knock a company who has put a ton of money into two stroke development, offroad bikes (whether they be orange, white or red) and also put in a lot of r and d into the MX side plus is just creating more and more factory jobs for deserving riders. Say what you want but I don't see Honda, Kawasaki or Suzuki doing anything for the hard enduro market. And yeah, Sherco and Beta are but they aren't the giant corporations that Honda is. I will at least give Honda credit for going in big in Dakar. Yamaha does release models but not a ton of new in their X lines. But still, an option to have so that's nice to see.

Like it or not, KTM is keeping the enduro market alive. And now they will create more MX factory jobs as well.

I've owned a EC300 before and was actually looking at a pre-owned one last week. They are solid bikes. But their management has not been strong. If not for KTM they would have probably gone under this time around. So yes, a re-branded KTM BUT another cool looking bike out there that is competitive, high quality and gives the riders another option, both the consumer and the factory rider.

Good for them, but other than branding, there must be other drivers. May have been discussed before, but any importing implications/advantages regarding Spain? Does Husqvarna/KTM still have any (other than dealers) moto presence in Sweden?

Lewis Phillips from MX Vice heard talks about Glenn riding a Gas Gas already in 2020.

Btw, putting Jorge Prado on Gas Gas would be perfect. Spaniard on a "Spanish" brand.

Ride a 2020 KTM and Husky back to back on the same day. The different swingarm, airbox, muffler and bodywork makes a big difference.

I'm amazed if you think they are the same.

Oh i absolutely like those special/different bikes like Husaberg or a 500cc back in the day. Or like a GasGas or a TM now.

The problem with that though is that i don't own a GasGas or a TM. And i think from the group of people that are now complaining about GasGas becoming a red KTM most did not own a GasGas. And that is the main driving force why a KTM can buy Husqvarna or GasGas: These companies did not make enough.

To be honest, i don't like that the KTM and Husky are the same with different plastics. But i do appreciate it that KTM and Husqvarna is spending money in motocross and offer what the majority of the target group seems to prefer:
* They offer a whole kids line in bikes
* They offer a 2-stroke line which most don't offer
* They promote the youth class (50cc is part of the national races)
* They have by far the best dealer network over here
And in addition they have by far the strongest lineup in GP's.

The only competition they have that comes close to this is Yamaha. All others miss at least multiple items of above.
I guess the only complaint i have other then KTM and Husky being the same bike is their pricing in high. Which makes sense though looking at what they do.

From a marketing standpoint it would be really good to move Prado to a Gas Gas bike, but i don't see that happening because of his connection with DeCarli

It's easy to see that connection, but how many fewer KTM bikes would they sell in Spain if Prado was GasGas' superstar? I'd keep Prado on KTM, and market KTM as Pierer Mobility's number 1 brand (like they currently do).

What do you mean with presence? We have KTM/Husqvarna Scandinavia race teams, which are national race teams competing in the Swedish Enduro Championships. Besides that, Husqvarna had some press releases here I think and do alot of road shows - but I guess they do that "everywhere".

If you mean production, R&D and such then no, its all Austrian...

Name a better bike off-road. Maybe there is a parity with other brands on the track. And how many suspension brands are there... 3?

KTM corporate stepped up when there was just a 'Big four' and made it a 'Big six'. I like what they are doing and own a 2019 KTM for that reason.

Gas gas is not the same as Husqvarna. Its a joint venture not a take over. Bikes will be made in Girona. Perfect for Taddy because that's just where he lives.
