His only motivation is to do the bare minimum to keep his electricity on. Smarttop Honda is wasting their time on this kid.

I’m glad he’s going to dial the training back this season. Sounds like a good plan

Lol you guys are ridiculous. justin is the man. He was on a bike he wasn’t comfortable with. How many times has this happened in the pro ranks?! You can’t just say “oh so and so got a holeshot on the Suzuki so it can’t be the bike” lmao. Dude get out of here. This was a great interview and I hope Justin kills it this year.

I seriously don’t understand the hate. Because he has a second hobby? Wow big deal. Bogle raps, malcom fishes and builds cars, etc etc. He literally said he wasn’t comfortable on the bike. Why risk injury especially when you see what happened to peick. He said he overtrained (but you guys are fine when bogle and others say they overtrained...). I just don’t get all the hate he gets.

I bet we all hear next year around this time that he wasn't comfortable on the Honda. After another dissapointed season full with excuses and mysterious injuries.

I predict a very solid improvement with Hill.

What about barcia and plessinger? Both great guys, but results aren't showing. Yet I don't see near as much hate for them as Hill gets. Guess you guys just hate guitars or something. Rapping, fishing, hunting, racing cars, all that is totally cool, but ill be damned if someone tries to put rock music out... lol

This right here! I'm not gonna call Justin the hardest working dude out there, but he definitely gets A LOT of shit for his hobby, while a lot of others riders with results just as bad or even worse than his don't even get mentioned.

I hope he does well and keeps playing his guitar, life is more than just fucking moto.

With Justin I think it is more the perception. He shows these flashes of speed and a great result every so often that I think it sets a high expectation for him in the public's eye. The year before he begged jgr to let hime ride the 450 and he goes out and gets a podium. Then the following year he is on the 450 full time and the results arent't there. He is a puzzling rdier but if smarttopp took this chance on him they must see something. From the outside it looks like they have Malcom in the best shape of his life.

Barica under performing is still winning odd race s and getting podiums. Hill has come no where near that this year . Plus at least Barica had the dignity not to throw his any of his old teams under the bus . Hill has done this 3 times .

Plus there has been plenty of people hating barica and plessinger . The reason it might not be as bad is because the always give 100 % . Hill said himself after winning the 250 sx championship, he did nt bother for the outdoors cause he knew he had a ride next year .

Is that the same bike he "almost won" Tampa on in 2018? Come on man, you can't be serious about blaming the bike. Reed was comfy on it in 2019 and in 2009. Dungey seemed OK on it in 2010/11. Roczen was good on in 2015/16. Peick was also pretty good on it in 2018. Blaming the bike is ridiculous.

oh yeah man? Someone else was “comfy” on it (although I’m not sure how you know he was) and that makes it not the bike for an entirely different rider....

As for Tampa, his first 450 race, I’m pretty sure he went balls out not worrying about dying that night. Doesn’t matter what bike he was on. But ok brah keep hating. We can let him do the talking this supercross season.

he may come out with a bang and a whistle but by mid season-end he will be in his usual 10-14th position

I listened to the interview twice. My honest take is that he speaks well and is thoughtful is what he says. That being said here's my interpretation; he never wanted to stop racing, he was only going to ride for a factory supported team, he felt afraid after WP got hurt, the JGR bikes were slow, and JGR was limited in what the were allowed to do to the bikes, he didn't have anyone fast to practice with and didn't have enough different tracks to ride, he didn't like living in the south and wanted to be on the west coast, he overtrained and burned himself out and finally got hurt. He is aware of the public perception of him and also said he has stepped away from music to focus on moto.
That's a goddamn good interpretation, I must say. Cheers

When I see guys like Hill getting top-end rides...then pretty much wasting them, I think of guys who work their asses off and can’t even get more than a bike & parts. Sad, really.

And Plessinger had an avg finish inside top 10, with a best of fifth.

Hill finished inside the top ten just 3 times with his best being a seventh.

Though AP did not have an outstandable season, he was clearly more competitive prior to the injury than Hill
