It was known that Honda had Bubba test a factory CR125 & promised him a slot under the factory awning if he signed. I think the Stewart’s used this as a lever with Kawasaki to bypass PC and get straight under the factory awning.
Mitch was THOR at the time and James couldn't/wouldn't switch and they (PC) wouldn't let him wear Fox. (Though I believe they let Ricky wear Fox when the team was AXO).
Someone will probably point out a few errors but I think that's why he was under the factory tent.
Same with Stewart he rode 2000 and 2001 splitfire bikes while on fox. 2002 he went pro and wanted a factory bike so Kawi gave it to him. Simple as that

Shame really, I think James could’ve benefited over the Lang haul with a couple years of Mitch’s advice.
Truth be told, Ricky was on a factory 125 the whole time he rode for Mitch.
