Everyone is talking about A1 2005, does anyone remember the 2003 World Supercross GP opening round in Seville?

AKA Daryl Hurley's first (and only) win? I feel like that was worse than A1 2005. Where will this weekend match up?

Race Results

I could not find a video of the race, but I found a video of round 2, which opens with clips from the mudder. (Someone help me with the embed. It's not working on my phone)

Yup, watched those dudes hold it wide in a foot deep mud quagmire and tip toe around the track at 5pmh. Bikes blowing up everywhere. It was awesome.

I'm pretty sure they're bringing up A1 2005 because it was a muddy season opener at Anaheim, just like Saturday might be.

Seville was the opening round of the THQ World Supercross Series, which was 19 rounds, consisting of 2 opening rounds in Seville and Arnham + the normal 17 round supercross series (making A1 the 3rd round of the series). Heath Voss won the title if I remember correctly.

While it is not the exact same, i don't think it'd be that far of a stretch to include it as one of the craziest mudder of the last 20 years.

Seville mudder was in 2004. It was so muddy the announcers couldn't read a single number even on the riders backs. I think the main was only 8 laps IIRC.

2004 Season, Race day was in December 2003. I think your right on it being 8 laps. No one knew who Daryl Hurley was. I want to say he finished 15th or 17th the next round in Holland.

I was there, it is my the only big supercross I have been (other than that just national series). It was a MESS, there were Pros whose bikes were literraly stuck in the mud, they had to leave them sitting there and being removed with the help of heavy equipment.

Yep, he landed on me in the wet Naki after I got the holeshot. Snapped my leg real god. Yr old man was awesome though Scott. Made sure I was looked after while I had a two week stay at Base Hospital in NP.

I was seriously curious about where this was going until I realized this thread is damn near about to have its 4th birthday....

Awesome video though, and hey, a win is a win. Muddy, dry, whatever.....wherever that guy is now, he will forever be a 250SX winner!

I told MX Geoff in the press room that only Seville, Spain, was more wet than the MXON was on Sunday, I've been to a few races!
