Yep, could be Vialle, could be Geerts but both have to be more consistent than they are now if they wanna beat TKO over a whole season. Just my two cents

The only way Olsen wins 2020 is if Geerts or Vialle gets injured. Those two are still going forward and will get better. Olsen on the other hand has stagnated big time.

I dont agree with this at all.

Sure, TKO was fantastic to start the season but I like to believe its the competition who caught up and not the other way around. He´s still on the podium more often than not and sure, he had a few bad races like Belgium. Indonesia-2 and Sweden (13th, 10th and 6th) but in Italy he went 2-2 very convincingly so he hasnt lost it.

If you count only the last 8 races this year (which is TKO:s bad half), this is the points:

TKO: 265
Geerts: 206
Vialle: 244

Sure, he isnt AS dominant 2nd as he was in the first half, but still the second best in the series and will certainly be my favorite to win the championship next year unless something happens. Vialle and Geerts will certainly be there to challenge but "stagnated big time" is a bit of an exaggeration.

I AM NO EXPERT but i see lack of TKO's winter bootcamp and preparation as a reason for all this. He could be 2020 MX2 champ but he needs to go balls deep into it already in december.

Oh you are right. shiiiiit. i brainfarted. the numbers don't add up.

But if you read few interwievs from the first half of season he mentions how he ended helping his bro with some work on his flat during winter etc. and that he got later back to the "grindwheel" than the competition. But the points don't support my previous statement. Sideways

Okay saying that he has stagnated big time is maybe a tad too harsh but i will stand with the take that he has stagnated.

Is he better this year compared to 2018?

TKO didn't stagnate big time, but he didn't get much faster aswell. The gap with Geerts and Vialle just got smaller, because they improved a lot.

This was Geerts first full professional season, as he had to study and graduate during the 2018 season. Vialle came in sky high after his EMX-career.

I consider Geerts and Vialle as bigger candidates for the title aswell. Geerts had some issues this season, such as some small crashes (Argentina, Matterley Basin, Indonesia and Sweden) that cost him precious points. His bike failed him a couple of times aswell (Portugal, Germany, Belgium). If this didn't happen, the 3rd place in the championship would've been in the pocket by a long time.

Vialle extended his deal with KTM for another two years in May already. This is a big sign from KTM, meaning they believe in him to become worldchampion next year.

TKO will win some GP's, but I doubt he can hold off those two young wolves an entire season.

I agree. But I think it will be close. Will be awesome to have an MX2 season without one guy running away with it.
I hope Geerts gets his starts together. If one thing is for sure, it is that Vialle will take about half the holeshots next year.

No, Geerts isn't going forwards anymore, if you look at the results. In 2018 he was scoring podiums already, he didn't improve this year. Actually, I think he doing worse than everybody expected at the start of the season. Don't see him as a world champion.

More often than not, it’s the young guy making huge improvement that wins mx2. Exceptions Tixier, Machio, Rattray, Ramon. You can argue Tixier, Ramon and Rattray won because opponents got injured(or beacause Everts skipped three rounds) I would say Geerts has TKO covered speedwise. Vialle certainly has him covered out of the gate. Vialle will improve his endurance and Geerts might improve his starts. I don’t think TKO will improve very much. I think he will finish 2nd again. I think Vialle wins the title.

TKO is 2nd best in the championship right now. Geerts, VIalle or someone else need to improve during the offseason to get to his level. Imo Vialle has surprised the most and also improved the most during the season and if he can continue that during the offseason imo he will be at TKO's level.

Best thing is that if we have no injuries for the topriders we will have an interesting championship with TKO, Vialle and Geerts and hopefully some Watson as well.

Pretty sure he is staying with Maddi. Probably do the EMX250 with select MX2 rounds route but after this round, maybe that'll change

I used to be a big supporter of going asap into GP's once you are competitive in EMX250. For that reason i was not a fan of Roan vd Moosdijk coming back for another season in EMX since he allready was 3rd overall last season.

However i must say that i changed my mind a bit on this with how vd Moosdijk rode at the GPs in Portugal & Turkey but also the Dutch Masters. He seemed to have improved a lot in EMX, whereas guys like Haarup, Pichon, Vaessen etc. all don't appear to be make those steps after moving up to GP's early.

I am feeling TKO hasnt been great this year, worse than last year, where he looked like a contender. Jacob also seems to have been glat after a good season start.. to be honest i look at MX2 without Prado and i see a bunch of guys all capable of winning that probably wont. Renaux seems to have stepped up of late but next year is going to be all over the place.. you could have 8 winners.
