you guys who are playing the game in automatic....you have to learn to play in manual. i can’t stress this enough. imo if you want the best experience from the game, play FPV with manual transmission.

So the, BEST way to play this game is in, FPS? I raced motocross from 1979-2005 and I have played all MX vs ATV titles. Initially, I played on PC for years. Then when consoles became the mainstream, I played the game in 3rd person privately and on-line for years with the software title releases (2007 MX vs. ATV Untamed, 2009 MX vs. ATV Reflex, 2011 MX vs. ATV Alive, 2014 MX vs. ATV Supercross). I had very few issues with playing in 3rd person with all of the mentioned titles. Now I have players like you telling me and others that the way to enjoy the game and get the fastest laps is to play it in, FPS. Sigh... Do you not see the issue? Let me help you understand just in case you are missing my point. The difference in gameplay should have separation of interfaces. The posted fast lap times should be distinguished and on-line play should take into account the perspectives. Bottom line, FPS and 3rd person should be separated.
the FPV (first person view) in all out is much different than previous mxvsatv tittles. of course, its the same in the sense that its a view thats over the bars and its not third person view, but with All out, the specific way the FPV view is designed, combined with the physics and gameplay feel, is the reason why many people say its the best way to play the game. the overall gameplay and physics is what makes it so good. im actually confused by your statement. you say you played FPV in previous games and had very few issues and now were telling you its the best way to play All out? i mean yea, some of us are telling you that. it means that, I included, hadnt played previous mxvsatv games in FPV, most of us played third person view, because the FPV in previous games wasnt as good as it is in All out. many aspects of the physics that people dont like about the game when played in 3rd person view isnt a problem when playing FPV in All Out. things such as the bouncyness and the cornering are much different between the two views.

now, with that being said, i actually do think to some extent, you can only go so fast in FPV due to the physics. for example, in third person view, the fastest riders in the game exploit certain aspects of the physics that help you gain more speed and carry momentum. in third person view, you can land on the rear wheel for a "speed exploit: as some would call it, and theres a way to corner that involves leaning forward that helps you carry a ton of momentum. these two examples are something you cant take advantage of in FPV. of course you can land on the rear wheel and you can lean forward in corners while in FPV, but because of the gameplay difference between the views due to the physics, in FPV, you dont get the "speed boost" that you do in third person view. now, im not saying you cant go fast in FPV, you certainly can. but theres a reason why the TOP fastest guys online play in third person view. around the time the Hometown Nationals DLC dropped, I decided to switch from FPV to third person view. I was racing a guy by the name on FUHBOI666, hes one of the fastest guys on XBOX. he was smoking me and i couldnt go any faster in FPV. i played third person view on those tracks and actually got faster lap times in third person view within days by riding the way i explained above. of course i didnt really like playing in that view but thats when i found out about certain ways to gain speed over say, someone playing FPV. or anyone in any view for that matter.

again, to anyone else reading, im not saying you cant go fast in FPV. im not saying people that play FPV cant smoke people playing third person view. but what i am saying, and ive literally been playing this game since DAY 1, is that the max speed potential in third person view is much greater than in FPV. FPV forces you to "play the game more realistically" for lack of better words. third person view, you can really use the physics to gain speed. its that simple. this isnt the only game thats like this.

Im not saying they need to switch up the laptime leaderboards between the views, but I do think it would be cool to have "view specific" lobbies like they do for vehicle class. so, based on your response saying the difference in gameplay should have separation of interfaces....if what you mean is what i just said about having the ability to race with other racers playing in a specified view, than I agree with you. or at the least, if a laptime is posted in FPV, than maybe add that next to your laptime and bike size on the leaderboards and the riders information bar.

remember, FPV view your closer to the ground, which makes everything around you go by faster which can give you the sense that you are actually going faster. but the laptimes speak for themselves. the fastest riders in the game play in 3rd person view.

I picked this game up when I heard about the official tracks. I've tried several settings posted here and liked some, others not so much. Heres a set up I found this week and feel like it's been working well, perhaps only for me but figured it's worth posting for any one looking to try something different or for those still searching.

that looks like a really solid setup but i would recommend bringing your sprocket to the left side if you haven’t tried that yet already. i think it will help your gear ratio and acceleration. give it a try if you haven’t.
Is this setup for Xbox/PlayStation? On my PC there is no chassis tune?

go to the screen where you buy parts and buy the “chassis”. then you’ll have a chassis option in tuning.

Crash,

It not only feels faster, it is faster. I have tried the, FPS view in the game, I get nauseated and cannot play for more than a few minutes...I like this game, and I like that the developers are trying to fix the physics. Braaaah….:-)

Neither the physics or speed changes by switching camera angles.

the physics react much different, don’t be silly. turning, jumping, the bikes response to bumps/ruts....it’s all different. most games are like this. it’s a completely different experience and the physics is what makes that experience. it’s not just what you see visually, it’s what you feel. and what you feel....is the physics.

Just an illusion because you can’t see the awkward bike rider bouncing, silly

No, most games are not like that. It can feel different because it looks different, but it is in fact the same game.

it’s not that i don’t “see” the bike bouncing as much, it’s that the bike doesnt bounce as much. if you don’t feel the difference in the physics then idk what to tell you

lol of course it’s the same game. call it what you want. the bottom line is, the way the game plays, the feel, the rider actions and bike reactions are completely different in FPV. everything about it feels different. i understand the difference between it looking different and feeling different. we all know it obviously looks different, but it also feels different and that’s due to the...dare i say it...physics. calling the difference in feeling the physics or not....it’s a completely different experience and that’s my point. but again, everything you feel is a result of.....the physics!!!

when rainbow sends a patch out and you turn your game on and the gameplay feels different....you hop online and tell everyone “they changed the physics!!!” but the change in gameplay between views, the obvious major differences in bike/rider feel isn’t physics related. it’s ONLY the view. gotcha

the “best” way to play the game is in FPV because of the experience. many think the physics feel better than third person view but no one said it’s the fastest. for 90% of online racers you can be just as competitive and fast as third person view in FPV...but the guys you see on the leaderboards with those rediculous laptimes, they’re floating around the track in third person view. let’s not make this more complicated and confusing than it needs to be lol

How do you know the fastest laps, for the most part, are in 3rd person? I am just curious? My experience from posts I have viewed, the fastest are in, FPV. One more question, how can I play this game with realistic physics? I have over 200 hours and have downloaded the latest patch, v2.8 and the floating physics problem continues no matter how I set up my bike.

the FPV (first person view) in all out is much different than previous mxvsatv tittles. of course, its the same in the sense that its a view thats over the bars and its not third person view, but with All out, the specific way the FPV view is designed, combined with the physics and gameplay feel, is the reason why many people say its the best way to play the game. the overall gameplay and physics is what makes it so good. im actually confused by your statement. you say you played FPV in previous games and had very few issues and now were telling you its the best way to play All out? i mean yea, some of us are telling you that. it means that, I included, hadnt played previous mxvsatv games in FPV, most of us played third person view, because the FPV in previous games wasnt as good as it is in All out. many aspects of the physics that people dont like about the game when played in 3rd person view isnt a problem when playing FPV in All Out. things such as the bouncyness and the cornering are much different between the two views.

now, with that being said, i actually do think to some extent, you can only go so fast in FPV due to the physics. for example, in third person view, the fastest riders in the game exploit certain aspects of the physics that help you gain more speed and carry momentum. in third person view, you can land on the rear wheel for a "speed exploit: as some would call it, and theres a way to corner that involves leaning forward that helps you carry a ton of momentum. these two examples are something you cant take advantage of in FPV. of course you can land on the rear wheel and you can lean forward in corners while in FPV, but because of the gameplay difference between the views due to the physics, in FPV, you dont get the "speed boost" that you do in third person view. now, im not saying you cant go fast in FPV, you certainly can. but theres a reason why the TOP fastest guys online play in third person view. around the time the Hometown Nationals DLC dropped, I decided to switch from FPV to third person view.

FPV forces you to "play the game more realistically" for lack of better words. third person view, you can really use the physics to gain speed. its that simple. this isnt the only game thats like this.

the “best” way to play the game is in FPV because of the experience. many think the physics feel better than third person view but no one said it’s the fastest. for 90% of online racers you can be just as competitive and fast as third person view in FPV...but the guys you see on the leaderboards with those rediculous laptimes, they’re floating around the track in third person view. let’s not make this more complicated and confusing than it needs to be lol
Okay. Am I wrong to just ask the developers to release a patch for the game with more realistic gravity physics? It is so frustrating to not have the, "weight" feeling..

I can guarantee you the physics engine does not change depending on your camera.

If you honestly believe that, then you must be the type of person that thinks adding NAPA Auto Parts Octane Booster to your car will make it go faster -_-

i already said call it what you want. of course they don’t have a different physics engine for the changes in view but you can’t deny the difference in gameplay feel in just about every aspect. and that’s my only point. it’s not just about what you’re seeing....it’s what you’re feeling as well. it’s different. it’s bizzare if this is new information to you.

again, it’s like this in all games. it has to be by design. in FPV what you’re experiencing is that of the screen and the bars/front end, for lack of a better explanation...you are the TV/computer screen. in third person view, there is an object out in the middle of the screen that is moving around. i really don’t know how else to say it, and i shouldn’t have too, this isn’t new stuff. this difference naturally gives the game a different feel between views....and like i said before, what you feel during gameplay is the physics.

when you play a motocross game and you play with a 125 ...a 250f...and a 450f....that difference you feel between the bikes, is a difference in physics...not the physics engine.

you people are a bunch of walnuts

all the way left with your chassis tune is going to give you the most amount of gravity the game will give you. imo, FPV gravity isn’t as floaty, but tuning to the left with chassis....that’s the heaviest you can get the bike to feel. maybe start all the way right with your tires and move it left until you like it.

and the fastest guys on xbox play third person view. i know because i’ve talked to some and some have told me about others. again, God knows i have to clarify..i’m not saying some fast laps you see aren’t in FPV. the laps i see some people run...its only getting done by riding in a way only third person view let’s you ride the bike. the overall gameplay and physics of that specific view

You nailed it when you mentioned different interfaces during on-line play. However! The perspective property should be present in the, leadership lists regarding (Track, Rank, user, fastest lap, bike) + perspective.

The latest magazine of RacerX says the first 6 rounds are coming early 2020.

Sucks we have to wait that long but if they are anything like the last ones they did, it'll be worth the wait!

Go to page 22 of the October issue of Racer X. "The plan is to offer the second package of the first six tracks - Hangtown, Fox Raceway, Thunder Valley, High Point, WW Ranch, and Southwick - early next year."

Please explain!? Are you stating the physics are correct and true in every way regarding the, "real" tracks? I am willing to spend the time to prove to you that you are wrong! Let me know...

I dont think he meant that at all. What he means is that the more realistic tracks actually work well and are fun to play given the arcade style physics it has.

Let me take a stab at it:

#1- I am bored with the current physics, but simply due to the old saying "for every smoking hot broad, there is a dude tired of f#@%ing her". I am ready for their next title

#2- IF you tune to jump to the moon, max preload frequently, and hall mach 5 constantly, you will boom to the moon

#3- The "moon" physics has a lot to do with track design and steepness/magnitude/scaling of jumps. The more "realistically" scaled/pitched tracks and jumps feel good (Unadilla, Oakland), while others like Ironman, Budds Creek, Big Horn, Crescent lakes, East Rutherford have re-re booters and some overscale.

Still a solid game, I just knew the high was not going to last forever. Amazing it lasted well over a year.
