I assume you are paying your own way, with help from sponsors.
I'd just like to get through just a bit of the mystery surrounding this 'defacto' US Team.
I certainly can understand your joy at participating in such a phenomenal event - I've found absolutely nothing compares to the MXDN as a spectator for me ( well, that and the Isle of Man TT - and A1 doesn't remotely come close, people), but it seems strange, well, bloody wrong, that this 'loophole' exists. 500guy, I reckon, has it right with his view that it's a(nother) Luongo rort.
He completely surprised me at Lommel. 12-13 might not seem great on paper, but he beat some really fast guys. And he will have more time to prepare in the sand. And Assen is not Lommel.
MX1 - Starling
MX2 - Harrison
OPEN - Sanayei (on duo fiddy kawi)
Uncle Ron
James Stewart
Bob Hannah to manage..
And that there, is it in a nutshell.
Thus, the US having 2 Teams.
One Nation - One Team. How, what is basically 2 US teams is allowed, is quite strange. I'm not sure how long this PR 'Team' thing has been going on. Yes, some years they do seem to have PR residents, but, mostly, it's US riders.
Thankfully, all the other Nations - and there's quite a few of them, mine (Australia) included - with Territories and Protectorates that could play this game, do not.
No answer yet on my questions to Justin Starling on how the PR team is selected, and financed. I'm genuinely curious to know, above my thoughts that it's the lucky riders who somehow become part of the PR team, paying their own way, together with their Sponsors , and, perhaps some other benefactors that help with the cost. Does the AMA have anything to do with it?
As for Calvin Vlaanderen, he's resident in the Netherlands, for quite some time, as far as I know, and, perhaps a Dual Citizen - a Dutch (Boer) South African, originally - our resident Dutch posters can probably shine accurate light on that.
Pit Row
If PR is part of the US then the US already has a team.
If PR is a separate entity then they should have PR riders.
It can't be both.
Having two teams using riders from one country is wrong IMO.
