It will be interesting to see who plumps for this team and who actually want to get the chance to race a MXdN,regardless of all the BS,they will get a lot of respect no doubt
I’m not scared to race, and I would NEVER turn down a chance at racing MXoN... therfor, I’m in for MX1 for Team PR 💪🏼

I’ll race anywhere, anytime! Dirt bikes are not forever so I will take advantage to race a motorcycle around the world any chance I get and being able to race MXoN for the second time in my career, is truly badass. Never thought I would ever get the chance to do it even once! So stoked for this year!!

It really is badass. I was lucky enough to race MXoN in 2017 in The U.K and it was literally a feeling I couldn’t describe. Everything was AMAZING! And then to get to do it again is mind blowing. I’ll race it every year no matter what if they wanted me too! And it’s awesome having my team in Germany and they are only 2 hours from Assen so I have a great team behind me there to give me the best support and not just borrow a bike like 2017 !

Could you outline how you are selected for the PR Team, and it's set up?

I assume you are paying your own way, with help from sponsors.

I'd just like to get through just a bit of the mystery surrounding this 'defacto' US Team.

I certainly can understand your joy at participating in such a phenomenal event - I've found absolutely nothing compares to the MXDN as a spectator for me ( well, that and the Isle of Man TT - and A1 doesn't remotely come close, people), but it seems strange, well, bloody wrong, that this 'loophole' exists. 500guy, I reckon, has it right with his view that it's a(nother) Luongo rort.

How about Mitchell Harrison?
He completely surprised me at Lommel. 12-13 might not seem great on paper, but he beat some really fast guys. And he will have more time to prepare in the sand. And Assen is not Lommel.

I hope one day the USA wakes up to the fact that it is VERY VERY unclassy to send a 2nd team to mxdn under the guise of peurto rico.

That team can knock countries like New Zealand and Australia out of the A main some years - and all because some arrogant arrogant people think its ok to send a fake 2nd team.

At least Nicoletti will get a holiday. Dickheads.
Australia got 4th last year

A loophole is a loophole. Don't get pissed at the US for simply following the rules.

Tell me again, who is the president of Puerto Rico?
Quit bitching, At least PR is part of the US. Vlaanderen who is from South Aftrica rode for the Dutch team last year.

Motohead279 ; "At least PR is part of the US"

And that there, is it in a nutshell.

Thus, the US having 2 Teams.

One Nation - One Team. How, what is basically 2 US teams is allowed, is quite strange. I'm not sure how long this PR 'Team' thing has been going on. Yes, some years they do seem to have PR residents, but, mostly, it's US riders.

Thankfully, all the other Nations - and there's quite a few of them, mine (Australia) included - with Territories and Protectorates that could play this game, do not.

No answer yet on my questions to Justin Starling on how the PR team is selected, and financed. I'm genuinely curious to know, above my thoughts that it's the lucky riders who somehow become part of the PR team, paying their own way, together with their Sponsors , and, perhaps some other benefactors that help with the cost. Does the AMA have anything to do with it?

As for Calvin Vlaanderen, he's resident in the Netherlands, for quite some time, as far as I know, and, perhaps a Dual Citizen - a Dutch (Boer) South African, originally - our resident Dutch posters can probably shine accurate light on that.

+1

If PR is part of the US then the US already has a team.

If PR is a separate entity then they should have PR riders.

It can't be both.

Northern Ireland has fielded teams in the past as well,

I heard the Falkland Islands are entered this year, so anyone who didn’t make Team GB has got a second chance to race the MXoN’s.

I reckon a Tahitian 2nd french team could be pretty good too,

Not that I can remember. Ireland sends a team but they pull riders from both sides of the border.

I don’t remember that either, if NI comes under the GB banner then technically GB can use riders from there.

Ireland have used British riders before (Willie Simpson?) but that was back when you only needed a license from the country. Billy Liles rode for Luxembourg once under that rule. But they changed that.

Having two teams using riders from one country is wrong IMO.

We should just have a raffle for vital members and the first 3 names drawn get to race for PR.
