Apparently my VP metal can vibrated over and rubbed a small notch into my swing arm while coming home from a race. Would you worry about it?? See Pics

As a severely OCD person myself about keeping things looking brand new, especially my bikes, I wouldn't worry. Yeah it sucks, but it happened move on. Next time make sure your race can is restrained from moving or wrap your swingarm with a towel if space is tight. You can always cover the boo-boo with a swingarm decal. Could be a good excuse to trick your bike out with a new set of graphics? Gotta remember though...what did you buy the bike for? Did you buy it to keep it in showroom condition or to enjoy it? I'm sure in its lifespan you will put more scratches and dings in it.

I wouldn't worry about it. Blend it with a Dremel, then wet sand it with 120 grit. Finish with 180 grit. You'll forget it ever happened.

Oh, I say those grits because that's what worked on my 32 year old CR's trashed out swingarm. You may have to experiment a bit with grits to get the same finish as it came with from the factory. Be patient and always wet sand. Much finer than 200 grit it will start to polish, so keep that in mind.

Yes super pissed. I’m an over thinker so when I rubbed my finger over it I thought, shit some metal rubbed off and it’s indented...therefore it is weaker and it’s gonna snap it the whoops. Haha

Can’t tell from the pics but it’s actually a divet rubbed out not a scratch. At what point does it weaken too much.

Ohhh Harry... well thank you. But my question is not how to make it look better it was whether or not I should be worried about structural compromise given that the divet is deeper than the pic shows.
I appreciate everyone's input.

Probably after a few holes are blown through it big enough for you to shove an adult thumb into. I’ve had swingarms and seen them with those types of holes from getting hit with rocks, pegs, forks, etc.., and everything was fine. You’re over thinking this a lot

Again, as I said in my previous post, don't worry about it. Your swingarm is fine. Blend it as described and forget about it.

So I was jumping this 180 foot Quad and each time I scrubbed my swingarm kept rubbing on a rock at the face and this super deep divet that I can fit my finger in was the result. Should I be worried about it breaking?

If you have a Dremel, buy these sanding wheels and hit it with them first. One is more course than the other. Start with the course one, then the finer one. Then do the sandpaper deal I talked about earlier. It shouldn't take you longer than like 15 minutes to make that go away.

I've seen deeper grooves worn in a Honda frame from the shrouds rubbing on them in the early 2000's and never saw one break

Doesn't any one race their bikes anymore ? My swing arms looked way worse than that after a couple races after banging around in the first corner or slamming the door shut on a tight inside line.Cool

I would be worried about a lot of things if I thought a scratch was detrimental to the structural integrity of my swing arm.

I can’t have time for this. I’m worried about Forkner getting engaged and Webb turning down MXON and Beast Mode showing up or not. Serious stuff man! Oh, and the sand, the sand is so deep no American rider will survive.

Well, the gouge is pretty close to the centerline of your swingarm, which just so happens to be the neutral axis when loaded in a bending moment. In short, very little stress is being seen by the metal in that area so as long as you keep an eye on it I’d say you’re safe.

Put a swingarm sticker over it and call it a day. You may not like the look but that will prevent that scenario from ever happening again.
