It is a national disgrace that our 2 likely national champions are not going to be on Team USA. It is an international disgrace that Youthstream is allowed to profit at the expense of the teams, riders, and fans by hiding behind the whole “national pride” facade.

National disgrace?? Nah, just a little disappointed...

Right now? I want the guys and the teams that want to go, to go give it their best shot. That's where the pride comes in and that's who I'm going to support, all in.

They don't care. The mec is a cool race , I enjoy watching it. But it shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as the mxdn . The mxdn was here before the mec and it will still be here after the mec is gone.

What if Monster put the million behind a three moto full on motocross race (like at glen helen)...would that draw some GP riders? Would that help more Americans to be willing to ride the mxdn?

My point was they dont think its important and kawy doesnt feel the mxon is worth it. Risk reward. Money spent for a return. Quite a few riders turned down mxon. But lets boycott kawy lol. Stomp our feet like 10 year olds .

You do know Jeff Wards record at the MXDN right?
yes i do, he won all 3 classes, and he also won it every time he went,
but i also know in 92 Bradshaw and Stanton said no to going to deep sand track in Western Australia that year, and ward would have been the next best American rider in the nationals to go,
(Bayle did go for his last ride for team France) it seems a very similar year to be honest,

i also don't know if Ward was asked, or if he rang Roger and offered to go either, would have been a cool way to go out if he had,

If anyone thinks this is an employer decision then you’re kidding yourselves. This is a sport where the individual athletes have a lot of say in what they do. Kawi wouldn’t dare losing either one of them so if they wanted to go then Kawi would be there supporting them.

Yes yes. I, too, read the official report. If Tomac and AC wanted to be there, they would be. And Kawi would support them. Guaranteed. This is an individual sport where each rider, especially the top ones, have a ton of influence and say about what they do. Kawi would do anything to keep Tomac and AC, which would include supporting them at the MXoN.

Sorry but no...Bruce Stjernstrom believes that the time and money involved in supporting his riders at the MXDN is not what they should focus on...he is and has been very against the MXDN....AC wanted to be there in the worse way, but was told no by Bruce. The contracts that they have with Kawi is what they have to follow not their "individual' wants and needs...they don't have anywhere the influence you think they do especially at Kawi who has notoriously been pretty rigid as to what races their riders race...when was the last time you've seen a US Kawi rider race an overseas off season race...and any of those you can name will be pre-Bruce...

In fact, I have raced both. Never professionally, and I can't truly speak to the rigors of either discipline at the pro level. Can you?

What I can attest to is that a supercross track is a wildly different kind of riding which requires a huge amount of commitment, setup changes, and mental adjustment. It took me hours of riding a SX track to get my bike and mind dialed into the right place to race the class I do. I could easily see it taking days for a professional rider and his race team to do the same, maybe even a week or two, even though they have far more resources at their disposal. Beyond that, conscientious teams would continue to test to eke out the 1/10ths here and there. After all, they have a lot riding on their success and want to get it right. But to say that racing one outdoor MX race in September will ruin a factory pro's chances to be ready at A1 in January is a ludicrous excuse.

Kawasaki can decline to race the event all they want, as can Adam and Eli. I'm not trying to force anyone to race. Just don't tell me it's because the bikes and riders can't be ready.

Getting used to going that fast Outdoors takes some guys awhile to get used to
Agreed. I don't think it would take long for Adam or Eli to get re-aquainted with SX, is all. Certainly not longer than the amount of time they'd have from Sept 31st until Jan 5, or whenever A1 is.

Rubbish. If a rider worth his weight in gold truly wanted to do a race then his team wouldn't stop them. Do you think Kawi could have stopped RV from going to Europe? The brand wants the rider (to win a championship) not a rider wanting the brand. They wouldn't want to fire their top rider just for them to go to a competitor who he could then win with.

As for the time and money - they could share resources with european Kawasaki team. So this could mitigate some of the costs right there.

Especially among the riders who are already adept at Supercross (the U.S. - based ones,) missing a week of Supercross testing because they raced an event in Europe will have a negligible impact on their readiness.

Ok bud....The facts are what they are but you can continue to go with what you feel if you want...basically this is a policy of Kawi USA...if you don't like it as a rider go ride somewhere else...you accept it when you sign the contract.

If Kawi needs that much time to get a bike right, then their current model must be a dud.

And as far as them winning a title indoors, I would have them focus on building a bike that makes all the night shows first
You been watching outdoors this year? AFAIK both leaders using green bikes FYI

I'm disappointed in any rider that can go, but won't. Big time losers in my opinion. And even if Kawasaki was willing to go, I doubt Tomac would have went. AC on the other hand, wanted to go. Ferrandis and Roczen are like Tomac, which is a shame.

I've got the perfect solution, lets blend the MEC and MXoN into the same event. Put a bit of a sand section into it to please the Euros and, Voila!

This is the kind of thing that is likely behind much of Kawasaki's thinking, the one time he raced the Geneva SX as a pro, though it's as likely to happen at the MEC as the MXON, but the MEC is a much shorter, much cheaper trip, with live prime-time TV coverage in the U.S. where Kawasaki USA is trying to sell their motorcycles...

As I wrote in Racerhead yesterday, if they could get the date a little closer to the end of the nationals and away from the MEC, it would help not only Team USA but guys like Roczen, Musquin, Ferrandis...
