Does anyone have any knowledge or experience trying to get the 2019 ktm plastic on a 2017 or 2018? I know I’ll need to change the tank, radiators and possibly airbox. It looks like the 2019 has a different airbox but the mounting points on the subframe look the same to me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You’ll need the 2019 air box for sure and a seat. Currently converting a 2018 125 sx.

But the big question, does the new airbox work with the 17/18 subframe? Looking at it I would say it will but I looked up the OEM part number and it changed for 2019 ?

Can I ask what the point of this would be? Just wondering.

While on the subject, anyone know what years would work on my 14 250sx? And what would have to be changed/modded

For me I really like how slim the shrouds are on the 19. Coming off Honda’s and still owning a 17 kawi, my only gripe about my 18 ktm is how wide the shrouds are. And the rest of the 19 plastic looks sweet IMO

For me, I have a 2018 factory edition. So it would be nice to be able to have interchangeable plastics, seat, subframe etc.

That has nothing to do with the body work itself... The radiators have been slimmed and lowered...

If you read the OP you’d realize that by me saying I’d need the new radiators and new tank I’m aware.

It's also lower mounting points in the frame, not just the rads themselves.

Looks like it is possible to do somehow, but I don't know how much work was required

I'd love to know the rear fender setup on that. I bought a new 19 XC and want to get head light and taillight set up like an XCW for my local enduro series.

I know I can bolt something on there to make it "legal" but I want OEM-like fitment

Does anyone know if this can be done on a 2017/2018 Husqvarnas? 2019 plastics on older Husqvarna?

The new plastics look bitchin IMO. For sure the subframe would have to be swapped (if it fits). Probably tank too.

Has anyone made this work? If so what does it take? Would love to convert my 2017. Thanks!

My buddy has done it on his 17 250sx. You'll need subframe, airbox, gas tank, seat and all associated plastics. He got it to fit with his 17 radiators, just had to warm the shrouds a bit with a heat gun to get them to flex into place. Be prepared to spend a few bucks.

Silencer mounting points were not the same with the updated subframe on the 2 strokes. Only one of the two silencer mounts for the long pc silencer are able to mount up. Not sure how the 4 stroke mounts will do for you, but anything can be fabbed or tweaked to fit if you have the ambition to do it.

In my opinion he should have sold the 17 and bought a 19. Depending on what you can get parts for you're looking at $800-1000 for the body update on a bike with a couple of seasons under it. Anyway, that's a different topic.

Seriously they look the same, why waste your time. If you were talking about a husky I would say that makes sense but I honestly can't tell the difference between the 18 and 19 KTM

Did you manage to fit the 19 plastics? What parts did you require?

So you are saying that all you need is the plastics?

It’s because the EXC did not get the plastic and body work updates in 2019 that’s the sx/sxf/other models? Got. Your 2017 and 2019 has the same exact plastics and body work

I'd guess so.
I was expecting that the MY2018 EXC (first model with TPI) would have some changes on the sub-frame, tank/radiators that would make them not compatible with my MY2017, but I called the store i was buying the plastics from and asked them. They said they were compatible , and they were right, since i was i able to fit them.

so what about the front end i.e. front fender, fork guards and number plate, are they just a straight swap? I ask because you can now get a set of red plastics for the 19/20, Im not willing to spend the money to do a complete conversion just to get the red plastics but I would like a red front end.

Front fender and fork guards are identical from 2016-2020. The front number plates are different but are an exact fit, no modification needed.

Correct. 2018(.5) Factory edition is the current 2019/2020 plastics.

2017 TX 300 to 2019 300 XC.

Radiators are fine. Need Subframe, tank, seat and plastics. Plus a bunch of tiny parts (you can find them in the diagram on RMATV website under OEM parts).

You can even go as far as changing the clutch cover and stator cover to match the KTM bikes, but I just chose to use black engine guards as it looks great!
