If he would of won by taking Stewart out with that move it would of been an undeserved championship. Real dirty move. Lost a little respect for Reed on that one.

Oh man, level, I'm not a big fan of either rider- but I respect both- and what Reed did was completely called for in my book. Dirty is cutting over on the face of a jump. Corners, pretty much fair game. I'm glad James didn't crash and get hurt, but I think the pass was fair considering the circumstances.

You guys are morons. Reed flat out said on the podium he knew James had to finish 4th behind him and the only way to do that was to pretty much take him out of the race. Even James said that's how Reed rides. Reed had a chance to pass him once but didn't take it. Hell, James even knew what Reed was going to do. When Reed had the chance to maybe take Stewart out he took him right into the tuff blocks. Lucky Stewart didn't go down.

Had to be a nerve racking night for James. He did what he had to do to win the championship. Kudos to him.

I would say that James would have a better chance of crashing if Reed was pestering him, bumping him, etc. than just riding by. I would have preferred that Reed rode all out and just won the race but I can see why he tried what he did. It wasn't a blatant takeout or anything.

I've taken guys out harder than that for 5th place in novice class.

James is just damn lucky I wasn't in Reed's position. I would have punted his ass into next week if the opportunity presented itself. Everybody I know that's ever raced would have done the same damn thing too. Of course none of them (nor I) have ever tried that shit when we were being lapped.

I guess in this age of the internet all the drama is off the track. Those guys played way too nice for what was on the line. Somewhere Bob Hannah and Kent Howerton are sitting back and taking solace that their legacy is safe for another generation. Roger DeCoster is probably telling Reed about how hard Hannah used to plow into him back in the day. Reed probably feels like a pussy, but he'll cash his big fat check and snuggle up to Ellie's great big boobs and come back swinging next year.

.... and Larry Brooks will still be a douchebag. Just sayin.....

Or had a tuffblock wind up in his rear wheel like Grant did. But it's over.

I heard the same, but that's racing the last time I checked with Bob Hannah.

Nerve racking? Heck yeah, at least my defib didn't go off for BOTH mains....

Dude, that wasn’t a take out move, it was James not backing out when Reed had a wheel on him. JS would have taken Reed to the outside of the corner if the situation was reversed.

Exactly. Stewart puts more hard passes on people while charging from the back than anyone. Most people simply yield to Stewart though so you don't see him punt many people. Stewart is not one to back down at all though, so in a passing situation like that, Stewart risks going down.

That was the case in many of the incidents where Chad and James have come together over the years. Exactly what happened in St Louis a couple years back when everyone was jumping in Chad's case for "taking out James". It was a case where Chad got a wheel on James and James didn't back off the throttle like every other racer on the track does. I suppose it's that type of mentality that makes him faster than everyone else though. Either that or he just doesn't know how to let someone make a pass on him because it happens so rarely.

That's not really so bad. Wink I actually am watching the recording of the race again from last night and they just showed the pass right after I typed that. It was obvious that James was taking it easy and wanting Chad to go by him for a couple of laps so why didn't he back off the throttle when Chad finally decided to go around? It just didn't make sense and wasn't necessary and James could have completely avoided it.

He knew what he had to do but his mind would not send the signal to his hand to back off. He is not wired like that.

Food for thought...........In my opinion they were both just as guilty as the other.

Go back and watch it slowly. You will see Bubba veer Left into Reed when Reed was just inches ahead. Bubba even looked at Reed before turning into him.

If Bubba had not wanted to make contact he should have just backed off and let Reed go by.

That doesn't change the fact that if the Suzuki people are saying that Chisholm's deal was a takeout and wrecked Reed's race last week, then Reed's hit on Stewart last night would rank as mechanized assault and battery. Bottom line is, neither of them changed a damn thing. But it's a whole lot easier to look at the Chisholm incident and have some doubt it was an accident than the Reed incident. Reed went in there to make contact and hope Stewart crashed. I personally don't think that's a bad thing and I think Stewart expected it - but it's a little hard to do that in two consecutive races and then have your whole team whining about Chisholm' peccidillio.

Why do people continually try to equate bumping/racing between two racers on the same lap (which is perfectly acceptable) with two racers who are on different laps (which is absolutely not acceptable)? You just cannot compare the two incidents. One is good racing and the other is a violation of the rules. I would say the same thing regardless which teams were involved.

Stewart could have easily avoided that, it ws a very wide, very fast corner, just let off the gas a tad. I think he made it look a little more dramatic than what it was. Yea, it was a hard pass, not a takeout though. There were much better places to do it if Reed wanted to punt him.
