There’s never been a thread about this before. Good topic.

Sarcasm aside, vitals search is a bit clunky and hard to find things.

Bottom line - only you will be able to tell. 50% of people think they are the best bike known to man, 50% think they aren’t, and the other 50% think a two stroke is the way to go.

You’re in Israel? And you ride trails & out in the hills?

I’d get the 450 XC-F

I replied above that 50% of people love the 350 and the other 50% don't. I have both a 350 and 450. The 350 is super fun on flowing fast tracks and revs to the moon. The 450s have more grunt. If you are riding a mix of stuff you will be fine with either bike.

The only place I don't care for the 350 is when there is a jump out of a corner that I want to clear. It's easy to do on the 450 but takes more technique with the smaller bike. I'm old and don't care that much about developing the best technique anymore. I just want to have fun so I choose the 450. I've been riding a long time so the power is fine for me.

You could probably sell the 350 pretty easy if you ended up wanting more power, since lots of people want to try them.

From a more practical point of view, the more open spaces we are planning to ride, the more displacement we would appreciate having. Can't think of the word right now, but inversely speaking, most of us usually prefer less displacement in tighter spaces. Consider it.

Posted this yesterday on a similar thread-

I rode a KTM350 for a while and never liked it. Not enough torque.

It’s an interesting bike. Has 250F torque down low and 450 HP up top but keeps revving past where a 450 checks out. But you have to revvv the 350 high in the RPMs to get the crazy power.

Power progression feels a lot like a 250 2 stroke, ok torque down low (clutch for big guy 200+) ) then the power hits hard, once the power hits, it keeps on climbing hard, and climbs about 3x as long as the 2 stroke.

I only ride track, so I like the low end torque of a 450 to make jumps out of corners. In open desert I’d go 450. Single track I’d go 350 or ride my 2 stroke 250.

i see i see i might aim for the 450 then
so lets say the 450 is riding you and controls you? and with the 350 you ride him and trying to build momentum ?

With just 2 years riding I'd say this is likely. The 450 will control you but you will control the 350. A 450 has a LOT of torque and can be tiring to ride. Tired riders crash more.

The 350 is plenty for most of us, and you want to go faster, twist it more. I can make every jump on my 350 that I made on my 450, and I get less tired riding it.

Yes, the 450 will have lots of torque down low. Once you get tired this gets tough to handle. It's why I went from a 450 to a 350 - I was getting too tired, too quickly, and then I got sketchy and dangerous.

New riders and old slow guys (that's me) don't need a 450. Most of us can't ride them well. Old guys like them because you don't have to rev past 5000 RPM, and you can jump anything with little real effort. Only one of my 3 450s ever hit the rev limiter, and that was only at Glen Helen. Otherwise I didn't get past 7000 RPM and 4th gear. Smile

I won't like i do like the big farts of the 450 the power of it sounds really interesting to the type of riding i will do

its like extremly strong or its managable to ride with good fitness and etc

Depends on what style of power you like. Reving it out like a 250f that is the 350. Torque and bottom / mid power 450
7/14/2019 6:33am
I dont think atm im at kind of rev any 250/350 aslong its not a straight line haha

i dont wanna try work with the 450
so at general 350 is kind of 250 ? need to get it to high rpm in order for him to release some power?

Hell, I think I’d maybe get a bullet proof vest if the news is even 5% accurate.

I own both the 2018 450 and 350 SXF.

They are both amazing bikes, just two different tools for different riding styles. You have to ride the 350 up higher in the RPM's to get 450 power, and the 450 has more power down low.

The bikes feel almost identical, but the 450 has more inertia . The 350 acts just like a 250F until you get past 7000 RPM then it turns into a 450.

So, if you like to lug it and use torque, get the 450. If you like to rev it out, then the 350 may work better for you.

cant go wrong with either motorcycle though...

I own both a 250f and a 350 and you might think that the 350 feels just like a 250f below 7000 rpm if your basis for comparison is a 450, but when you ride the 250 and 350 back to back it quickly becomes obvious that the 350 is nothing like a 250 at low rpm - it's much stronger. They guys who are saying you have to rev out the 350 are probably more advanced riders who can actually use the power. For a beginner or novice, the 350 has plenty of power to move you along quite nicely even if you don't rev it, unlike the 250. The gearing on the 250 and 350 are so different that it's hard to compare them as well. When I ride my 250 after long periods on the 350, I'm always a little taken aback at how little forward thrust you actually get out of each gear, and how much more shifting is required. That being said, I always have a blast on the 250. It almost feels like a 125 when you're used to a bigger bike. The 350 is no 450 at low rpm, but it certainly has enough for most of us.

To me the 350 has way more bottom end then the 250. Less shifting and easier to roll out of corners. It’s a great middle ground bike.
