Damm dirt bikers ruined the clam digging there. Chowder tastes like bel ray now.

Signed and email sent. I too was able to visit over the years and ride, it would be sad to see this place go for OHV use. I believe it's the only place in California you can legally ride on the beach.

Lots of great posts on this thread, informative.

The first time I took my kids, they were blow away that we were driving on the beach.
Their faces were a memory I'll never forget.

i was In pismo this weekend and there was a dust cloud over the dunes. I would be okay with closing it down to foot traffic only. I'm not a fan of the dune crowd or a fan of four wheelers or a fan of dust or fan of noise. I rather have a park all can enjoy and treasure. I was surprised at how many Mexicans there were in the dunes. Can we please display American flags only? I don't get all the Mexico pride flags. To each their own but have a little respect for America on Idepence day.

Signatures should come from locals only. Those are the people inhaling the sand not some bloke signature from Alabama. If CA wants to close it they will. CA is powerful.

Dude.... Are you serious right now?

Those locals better never go anywhere near the Antelope Valley or any desert area for that matter. The wind blows plenty of dust around Laughing

Edit: Oceano Dunes was has been a designated SVRA since 1974. I'd bet that a good chunk of the people living there that are bitching about dust and whatever other crap, probably haven't lived there since 1974 or before. Don't like it? Move! Don't shut down a place that has been open for OHV's for 45 years. Come on man. Watch that city go to shit if they end up closing the dunes to OHV's. Their homes probably won't be worth shit at that point anyways... HA!

There definitely are, but try leaving. It's not any better. People are just as dumb, except they're dumb about different things.

Stop thinking as an enthusiast and be thoughtful like a citizen. By closing it down we reduce the number of drunks, utv's, atc's, quads, and FMX'ers in CA. Dunes only dirtying your filter, suck in sand and corroding your bike. I'm series, the dunes are lame IMO. They offer nothing positive for motocrossers.

Please tell me that was sarcasm..

I'm not a dunes rider myself, although it looks like a ton of fun if I had an older bike to thrash on. Imagine what happens to that town if the dunes close...

Have you been to Pismo? It will survive because it's a tourist town. Not everyone goes to the dunes. The town the dunes are in is run down anyways. Also it's a town where older people go to RV camp. Every other beach city survives without dunes and buggies just fine. Pismo needs more bike trails IMO.

Obvious troll is obviously trolling.
Talks about not being a fan of the 'dune crowd' and then goes full racist after. There are people worth holding a conversation with and then there's some that just want to be contentious.

I could careless if it closes. You can't take your kids without worrying about drunks in the dunes running them over. I tried once and was terrified. Never again. Park next to someone blasting music. Not fun. Trying to avoid all the rental riders who have zero experience riding a quad. I'm telling you it ain't fun. If keeping it open cause the ohv sticker to go up close it down.

I have a right to my opinion on the dunes. I'm voicing it because not everyone thinks the way you do. Where is my racist remarks?

There is over 800 miles of California coastline for you and everyone else to visit that doesn't allow OHVs. Pismo is a few miles of it used for OHVs. If you don't like it or feel it's unsafe go to one of the other hundreds of places available.
Maybe you can get with the Coastal Commission and all the other environmental loud mouth kill joys and take up arms against the drug addict vagrant criminals taking over beaches all over CA, breaking every law, trashing every place they go, and truly making imany beaches unsafe.

heartless comment to look down on the homeless who are down on their luck with depression mental illness or addiction. Not everyone grows up in a leave it to beaver family. I'm okay with using the pismo ohv proceeds for providing mental health to these victims.
