Here's WW take on it. If I were Larry B I would have told KC to remember that the Blue flag only means hold your line, someone is lapping you. Now if James got by KC quickly but CR had to work for the pass, so what? The Blue flag does not prevent a rider from taking the fastest line around the track.

That said, once KC was passed, he made his own decisions, of that I am sure. I'm offering a $5000 stipend to the first person that can prove to me that LB actually told KC to try and take CR out. It just didn't happen. And only fools would believe otherwise . . . .

And f-you with the f-ing pussy comment. I'll have my body guards dispatch your ugly arse momentarily . . . .

I always thought that the blue flag mean "hold your line because you are being lapped." Fine. but its not the banzai into the corner that matters here.

My biggest concern comes when he does pull over and looks back. Now it was an outside pesrpective, but I didn't see any other riders around him besides Stewie and Reed. .

Now how does this bring LB back into the mix? It doesn't. Many of us can assume why KC chose to get involved, but it was a choice. He made the choice. The AMA/FIM reacted quickly and rightfully for once. What else is there to say about it?

LB returned my call on his way to Vegas. I'm writing this in response to those of you who actually are stupid enough to believe that Larry would be stupid enough to invite scrutiny from the FIM, AMA and the fans by suggesting to Kyle Chisholm that he should interfere with Reed in any way. It's a ridiculous notion and one that Brooks would not do.

When I asked him about it, he just said that Kyle made a mistake and got caught up in the moment. No big deal. He also said the last thing he would have wanted was for Kyle to hinder Reed, for the same reasons I just stated. James is the best rider in the world and in the points lead. No help needed.

Something all of you conspiracy theorists are forgetting is that to give an order like that would be cheating, and neither James, Larry, Mike Kraniak, or anyone else on the team are cheaters. Rules are rules, fools.

Larry hasn't won all those championships with all those different riders by being a dumbass, he's won because he's smart, experienced, and knows about the politics of the sport. He may not always say what you want to hear, including on these boards, but he gives it to you straight.

Thats ridiculous.....why should he "give" anything?
Stewart did nothing wrong.

Larry has alot of friends in the industry so he will always get the benifit of the doubt either way, I'm sure he was smiling inside when Chisolm held up Reed cause it looked like Reed could have won and tied the points for this weekend now, its ovewr and stewart has won the title. If Alessi knocks Stewart down due to a miscalculation and striclty rider error, and reed wins the title I bet it will be a different reaction from Larry and his friends in the industry.

It's about racing. That was a great battle at Salt Lake, and even #7 fans should be bummed that a lapper put himself in the middle. We don't get enough close races. And if you think it's coincidence, or an accident that it's Stewart's team mate getting into Reed you're a bit bonkers. List the times you've seen a lapper make that kind of move. And in a heated points battle.

I want to see race like that play out between the leaders. Anything can happen. It seems more people on this board just want to see their favorite win, and don't care about the racing.

Hey did you watch the race? Chisolm had no business being where he was when he was. Further I think the reason Chisolm was on the brakes as hard as he was: he miscalculated... He was headed right for Stewart. For all you guys who say it was no big deal, would Chisolm still be employed at L&M if he had hit Stewart instead? Bottom line he should have pulled over to let them both by. Enough with the BS about "I was racing" already.

For those who can't seem to remember how team MX is played, break out a copy of the Great Outdoors and relive the Alessi/Tedesco affair. That should clear up any doubts about whether Brooks knows how the game is played.

The irony of the whole thing...

Brooks bitches about people not thanking their sponsors.
Next week, his rider doesn't thank his sponsors.

Brooks bitches about lappers effecting the outcome of a race.
His lapper rider effects (maybe) the outcome of a race.

It'd be funny if a lapper bumped Stewart tomorrow...just to see Brooks' take on that.

Come on, seriously. Do you all think he said absolutely nothing to kyle knowing this may come up. I am sure he said some derivation of what wwh guys said, see the blue flag bail off make sure james gets by then hold your line and keep racing. No need to just pull of the track for him. I doubt he said take him high in a corner, and whether that was the absolute intent or whether he came off that table to hot is hard to say. Everything we have seen makes it obvious that the intent was at least to make it difficult for reed to pass which he did in the corner before and the straightaway before.

What happened in the corner was likely not what brooks had told kyle what to do, but the racing he likely did tell him to do is what happened from the corner before to the incident.

I bet if he did order it he would be lining up people to tell about it so they could post it. Come on, whether he did it or not, what he told you has no relevance on what actually happened. The only conversation that would give you any insight into the reality of it is the one that went on in the transporter between larry and Kyle. Other than those two parties (it is doubtful if he did do it he would even come clean with the stewarts) not one of us will ever know the truth.

Reed's comments make it sound like larry isn't above that, but it is doubtful that you can believe him int he heat of the moment as well.
have you ever heard of disgruntled ex employee...come on.

S
Nope, that is why my comment says that it is doubtful you can believe him either.

The truth doesn't matter, whatever it may be beyond what people see on the video. Not on the boards during the week, not at Vegas Saturday.

getting caught up in the moment? the moment wasn't his! his mistake was not getting out of the way and not paying attention to flags, blue or black.

I think we all know the truth. As with many things, if we look to the past and evaluate history we can learn the pattern.

Reed makes a lot of sense in his press conf comments on Brooks:

"There’s a paper trail a mile long of what people in… Should I say, ‘His boss’ has done along the way? You look through the years and we can all find little things that he has done, and one that stands out most is sitting [Steve] Boniface out of a race [in 2003 at Millville with the Red Bull KTM team] because he wouldn’t help somebody, and taking his rear wheel out of the bike. I find it quite amusing, quite funny, and each and every one of the people sitting in this room I believe knows the truth and what really happened, whether they write that or not. Everyone has to be political.”

How easy would it be to try and take Reed out then pass it off as a mistake?I can't buy KC getting caught up in the moment when he looked back and saw both riders coming up,then he let stewart by and then he pushed reed out of his line and when that didn't work...he torpedo'ed him in the apex of the corner.

I call BS on this one.
I think that if KC was "ordered" to interfere he would have slowed up Reed more than the 0.9 seconds that it ended up costing Reed, but what do I know. I don't race, I just ride.

JS lead starting lap 14:
0.8 at the finish line (when lapping Voss allowed Reed to pull up)
0.9 going into first set of whoops
0.6 right before the KC incident (when KC was at the end of the whoops throwing off JS's pace)
1.1 entering the whoops after the KC incident
1.5 exiting the whoops

for a difference of 0.9 seconds lost due to KC.

From the time Reed landed off the table before the whoops till he made the turn after the whoops was clocked at:

6.12 lap 11
6.24 lap 12
5.85 lap 13
6.15 lap 14 (the KC lap) which matched his pace on lap 12 (pretty impressive for just having that run in with KC.

The broadcast didn't show that section on the 2 subsequent laps, but he was back @ 6.1 - 6.3 in that section towards the end of the race.

The rhythym section 2 sections after that whoops section really hurt Reed since JS was going through there with an average of 4.5 seconds from lap 12 - 16 and Reed was 4.6 - 4.9 during those same laps with Reed clocking a 4.86 on lap 14.

I acknowledge that 0.9 seconds is a big advantage when lap times are so close. I guess my point is that the gap that JS had over Reed at the end was a result of many more factors than that one incident. I am not saying that the incident didn't have an impact. I admit I am not a racer so I don't know the mental effect that it had on Reed. I would think that being a former champ he knows how to deal with that.

I do expect to be flamed on this one and I do realize that this information is less than scientific using a stopwatch and a DVR. I have no agenda, just numbers. I think whoever wins, completely deserves it.

It is interesting that it happened in the San Manual advertising tough block section.

People seem to forget that in the beginning of the year, KC was having trouble even making the main events, it was even a surprise by many that he even got a ride on that team. When you consider that, the guy really doesn't have much experience and from what i saw on tv, it looked like a mistake to me, seemed as though he got a good set of momentum going in the whoop section before the turn, and just couldn't get on the brakes hard enough and ended up hitting reed.

But let's just say he did get team orders to take out Reed, and actually succeeded. That would be the WORST PR any business or team could ever want and i think it really would have had everyone thinking Stewart doesn't deserve the title, (the guy puts in too much work and has hired one of the best trainers in the world to have people discredit him that way), why would L&M want an asterisk on their title? I just dont see it being planned out that way and to sum it up, it would just be plain dumb.
