Fox Raceway Hot Tips

I'm still trying to decide if I want to give Fox Raceway a shot for the national. I've never been there before.

I'm trying to strategize my trip if I go. Looking at Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/qC8bPCerfMRwvLtV6 and I don't see much obvious parking. Are they going to fit all the fans in that little parking lot next to the track? Or is there some distant parking lot we have to walk from?

Should I bring my mountain bike and just ride into the facility?

Am I blind? I still don't see a regular parking lot. I see camping, VIP Parking, Super Ticket Parking, Credential Parking. But no plain "parking".

There is some white lettering in the bottom left that says VIP Parking.

So if VIP parking is off the map, you might as well just park in your drive way and walk from there haha

They haven't publicized how they are going to correct all of the terrible problems they've had in the past two Pala nationals. I wouldn't trust them too much. Leave early. You can't try and roll in an hour before the race. The access road is a 8 to 10 mile two lane country road coming off of the I15 from the west. There is open land near the track and I'm sure they (I hope) will have parking down the road a little ways. The past two times traffic was terrible and a lot of people couldn't get in. Be prepared just in case traffic is stopped. As for watching the race it's absolutely flat ground and in the past you couldn't circulate around the track. You had to stand behind a fence separating the track from the parking area. When the crowd is 10 deep it's hard to see anything. There really aren't high spots. You might be able to get on top of the little hill on the far east end of the track to watch that end but you won't see a lot of the lower portion of the track from there . It's just not like Washougal, Colorado, Glenn Helen or even Red Bud where you can move around the track. I hope they open it up for viewing. If you have never been to a national before it might be worth it, but it might be a gamble. These deals with the Indian reservations in southern California have gone sideways many times.

Yeah, no, I went to Glen Helen the last few years. The best part is wandering around the track and watching the races from various spots.

This is very discouraging: "you couldn't circulate around the track"

I have property 8 minutes from the track on Pala Temecula road , all downhill to track from my place but uphill on the way back if any one needs a place to park or pre game . I got a decent amount of parking room and mini bike track Wink

Anyone know if there was a body line aside from the car line? My grandma lives a couple miles away and I was going to Uber to the gas station, pick up some cold ones, and try to pound as many as I could before I waltz in - or offer a few to whoever would let me jump in their truck bed.

I’m not sure my exact plan for getting to and from the track from my place but my road goes all the way through to behind Pala track , there’s just one house with a fence that blocks the route that goes straight there . I may ask the home owner to let us go through which would be amazing , but if not I might end up mountain biking down and the back up . It’s an easy ride down but going up could take time . I’ll contact my neighbor and see if she’s kind enough to open her gate . Either way feel free to park here I’m only 6.4 miles away , would be perfect for someone who’s willing to bike the distance or enduro in .

Getting to, and away from the track will be HORRIBLE, as in the past. You can only shove so many cars down a narrow two lane hwy.

Camp, or arrive hours in advance and sleep in your vehicle.

If you are from or passing a more metropolitan area on your way there, i would grab one of those bird scooters and bring it with you, park at pala casino and then ride that thing to the track.

So maybe the mountain bike is the way to go. Park at the casino and ride in from there? Will they let bicycles in and/or is there a good place to lock up?

yeah alot of people do that but I would be worried to bring an expensive mountain bike in there even locked up. Those bird scooters you could literally leave it at the track and someone will come pick it up later. I'm not sure if everyone is familiar with how those work but its super convenient for times like this. I use them in SD when going to Padres games. It allows me to find free parking further away, then hop on one of those scooters and just leave it when i'm done with it. Only costs a dollar to start and then 15 cents a minute after that. If you have to pass by LA just grab one off the street and throw it in the back of the truck then when you get down there just open the app scan it and you are set.

It’s not that hard to avoid traffic. Get there early and it takes an extra 30-45 minutes longer then normal to be parked. Leave early or wait until a while after or plan a back way out, only took an extra 45 to an hour to get home. I see a lot of people butt hurt they didn’t plan better and got stuck in traffic.

Take a close look at Lilac road if you don't mind driving on dirt. It will dump you off a few hundred feet from the track entrance and you can avoid the traffic nightmare. Or, do like some others have said and arrive early!

I'm bringing a mountain bike. I've planned that since before I got in the gate at the last national at Pala.
I'm hoping they have the traffic and parking solved. Just in case, I'll be prepared to ride in a few miles.
