Why does Feld feel they need to have a NASCAR driver in the booth?

AJ did a great job. Enjoyed hearing his comments.

But how about bring in some old moto guys every other round like Hannah, Tripes, Ward, Lackey, Johnson, Bailey, etc.

Would love hearing them talk about the sport today compared to when they raced.

I said the same thing earlier and I got a thumbs down.

I think for as of little amount of tv coverage any motorcycling gets.. When we do get time on tv I want it about motorcycles. With motorcycle people doing it. I don't want to hear about anything 4 wheel. We get enough of that with out even watching it.

Give me a 2 Wheel Channel ... Please....

Did any of you haters hear AJ say or reference anything at all about nascar?!?!? I didn’t. So please enlighten me how bad it was. Also the whole title of this thread is wrong. Nbc decides the commentators not feld. And also just before the sx broadcast one of the best Motorsport guys in the biz. Leigh Diffey. Was working on the track and field broadcast. Professional announcers get the job done and do it pretty well no matter what the sport. Somehow we’ve been stuck with this Ralph sheheen twit our whole tv life it seems and now rc who is fukin hideous announcing imo

AJ was surprisingly knowledgeable, wasn't like he was reading some scripted crap- he knew what he was talking about.

He must follow the sport pretty closely, I doubt you could just watch a few races and be able to communicate as well as he did. He did great, and like others have mentioned he did not say a word about NASCAR so he wasn't there trying to sell us on that sport.

Looks like NBC sports is grooming him to be a full time racing analyst, I would much rather see AJ and/or Ricky Stenhouse in the SX booth than the current Ralph/RC shit show. At least the NASCAR guys can complete a proper sentence and speak in an intelligent (and sensible) manner.

to boost outsiders/audience interest into the sport. sadly, the commentators are doing no justice in glorifying all the riders past and present injuries though....

even todays low nascar appeal is still larger than off road motorcycle appeal.apples and oranges.

You should watch the nascar America show on thursdays. He’s the sx guy and damn near as good as the best guy who ever covered the sport. Dave despain!! The haters here are laughable!!

And to top it all off no matter what is happening these days nascar is still the largest Motorsport in the USA and ratings and fans and tv viewership and corporate sponsors and funding dwarfs sx and mx. Best thing that happened imo was nbc getting the deal and adding it into their racing programming

Wow!! Fucking travesty!!! Probably because no one wants to do it or more importantly no one is good enough from 2 wheeled world. Rc is fucking terrible at this even though he is one of the best racers ever

I’d rather have aj than Ricky. Or db. Op is a dumbass , aj is a pretty good in the booth, Ricky loves to talk about himself while aj was trying to talk about a pass for position.

I thought AJ did a good job and added to the broadcast. Might have taken some of the burden off RC to talk as much.

Even if AJ was better than Ricky (and that is a low bar to clear), he doesn't have Ricky's overall magnitude in this sport. So what is it bringing us in terms of the broadcast quality?

1.) I'd argue he was nearly as inarticulate as Ricky
2.) If that's all we are after, then what specifically was AJ bringing, because there are countless others who are more coherent and sensible than either of the color commentators last night -- including some already on the broadcast crew.

The NASCAR guys are definitely better than the shifty moto commentators we have to listen to every week

He did great. I don’t care what his background is/was. Sounded like a natural.

You're more than correct. Like I stated, just a guess..... but at this point, either sport could use all the help we can get.

I think they should send RC over to AJ’s for some homeschooling on how to keep the audience interested.

I would prefer him over Carmichael. Did you notice Ralph would throw to him for analysis and get something, when he throws to RC he just ‘yeah Ralph he really needs this, he’s buckling, straight buckling’ and barely anything more

Complete disrespect to RC bringing in a 3rd wheel. RC is just fine on the mic without Blair and a Nascar car. Blair sounded like a complete idiot sesperate to overshadow Ralph and Ricky. RC is the Goat. Stay out of his way Blair.

RC and ralph are beyond horrible so I'm fine w a nascar guy. You could probably grab any two people off the street and they'd be as good if not better than RC and ralph.

Some of the responses here prove why moto will have problems growing. A lot of you don’t think outside of the moto bubble. Ricky has a lack of fundamental qualities that make a good broadcaster. That’s not a knock on his character or him as a man, but he clearly is not the most cogent speaker. This is THE most important quality for having success in his position.

You need to be able to put together your thoughts with minimal stumbling on your words and going on irrelevant tangents to fill dead air. These are two glaring imperfections that makes his delivery cringey. At that point, he could be saying the most groundbreaking behind the scenes info, but because the delivery is bad, it gets ruined

He does a better job, seems more knowledgeable about what's actually going on, and is on point. Give him the gig already.
