You're a fucking dipshit if you think RC is going to lose his job due to your gay ass online petition. Are you seriously that stupid?
You have a better idea?
I’m all for it.

Start your own TV network , outbid nbcsports for the next SX contract and hire the announcing team of your choice.... simple.

Maybe I'm jaded, but I'm happy just having LIVE Supercross every week. The announcing is fine for me, but then I'm old enough to remember when we got to see one race a year, 6 months after it happened - the USGP on ABC's Wide World of Sports. There also hasn't been a broadcast team since Larry Maiers and Dave Despain that didn't get complaints about their announcing. I thought Art Eckman and David Bailey were great but some didn't like them either.

If this doesn’t work I guess I’ll start a GoFundMe to start raising capital and give that idea shot!
Thx dude

You know what would fix it all? What would make it like David Bailey, Art Eckman and like all the “greats” people mention?

Tape delay.

Screw this live BS. Let’s watch this stuff a week later. So the broadcast team knows what’s coming up, they can take multiple takes at talking about the action they know that’s coming up. Blair would know when to talk and when not to. Ricky could have time to know the penalties that are already handed out and everyone would look like genius’s and sound amazing.

Either that, or a time machine. Yes. A time machine that can transport the announcers into the future. That way they know what’s going to happen before it happens and they can curb missing any action. I don’t see any problems with the time machine. It can’t be illegal, it’s not like there is any betting, So I don’t see Ralph or Ricky turning into Biff and making any money in their time trials. But maybe there are other ramifications I’m not thinking about.

I’m torn between the two.
(Sarcasm alert)

On a serious note, these posts are laughable. It’s like there is zero thought put into how it is to actually call a live race. We hardly ever miss anything with the replays. Nobody knew Marvin was going to throw it away.

Honestly, the only way to fix what all you Monday morning QB complainers are complaining about is tape delay it a week.

Ralph Shaheen is not a good fit for supercross. He has no natural aptitude for it, it is not a personal passion of his and it shines through in every broadcast. He hasn't improved one bit in almost 15 seasons. He needs to be gone, and I think it may finally be close since this year is such an obvious disaster. Weege is in the wings.

Carmichael has the credentials obviously. I really thought he would be better, as I thought he was ok when he was 3rd wheel to Ralph and Jeff. He caught flack for actually watching the race instead of the monitors - but at least someone was. With Emig gone he has tried to become more polished and put eloquent flourishes into his speech - but it comes off even worse. If he spoke naturally it may at least be listenable.

It really is. It’s killing the the joy of watching the race. I hope all you guys team up with me on this and sign. I hate that I have to hear the crowd go crazy to know something happened or that I can literally call the race better with the one view in the screen I have and watching the timing when that’s not off too.

It’s so bad.
Ok THIS is a problem but it has NOTHING and i mean NOTHING to do with ricky. This is a problem that has been occurring year after year after year. Going back to 2009, and probably further. But I just recently watched a race from 09 on youtube and the same bullshit was happening.

I also don't understand all the hatred over Ricky when Ralph shaheen is 10x worse. He is the WORST fucking announcer on planet earth, I hate that guy so much. He literally says some of the DUMBEST shit I've ever heard. For instance: First lap into the moto "Well ricky if the race were to end just like this, then joe blow will take over the points lead, and mike jones will be 15 points behind!!"

Hes constantly doing that shit, along with just being a total twat waffle. I will take ricky over ralph.

You know what a mute button is? Push it if you don't want to listen.

For all those complaining, who are your nominations for replacements?

Ok the announcing was pretty bad. I’m not going to say anything bad about Ralph, goat and the others, but PUCK. Isn’t the problem with the producing? Like the guy saying, go to camera 1, switch to camera 2, etc.

We shouldn’t have to try to distract our selves from the race we wait all week to watch. Bad business model if you ask me. If your pushing away the established fans you surely won’t gain any new ones...
Since you've been begging for links to the races, I don't think you're one of the paying customers that Feld or NBCSN is concerned about.......

Please tell me that you aren't bitching about a broadcast that you are not willing to pay for to support the races being broadcast in the first place......

I have cable subscription to watch the regular races and don’t get to watch the qualifiers that I’d like too and a few races are only available on Gold. But I’m not paying for the Gold package if I’m only gonna have to find a stream for 3 races and the production sucks.

to be fair, the petition should be "put daniel in the booth". that's more constructive and more accurate to what we all want.

I have a suggestion and I’m dead serious. I dare anyone here to go live during the race next week and do their own broadcast. Ralph and Ricky are only allowed to comment on what they see on the screen that we all see so they have no advantage over you other than getting a heads up from the truck that they’re going to replay or something. So seriously, post the link and we’ll all tune in and see what you’ve got.

Couldn't agree with you more. I have at times turned the volume down on the t.v. and put the radio on to listen to music, but I miss hearing the bikes, the crowd, that's what keeps the excitement going. But with RALPH doing his usual b.s. sschpeal of nonsense it kills it for me. I've even had watch parties where others have expressed similar views, "What the hell is this Ralph guy ranting on about?" Theirs all kinds of stuff going on in the race and he's babbling bullshit.....

this is a red herring and is getting tiresome to read.

weigandt, langston, and/or blair can and would do a much better job and are all available.

What are you going on about? Sarcasm or not, if Art and David could do it LIVE (and they did do it live in person for ALL Supercross races, even if they did indeed air a day or week later), we can certainly find some capable people today. Anyone who thinks Art and David had any advantage is sorely mistaken. They were just a good team, period.

We need a better director and better color. Ralph is CARRYING this thing right now, and that's saying something lol. How long will we wait for Ricky to improve?

Preach it brother!!!

Here’s another idea. If you’re subconsciously upset because the guy you root for had a bad night, but redirect your anger to the announcers, try this... Press the mute button on the TV. Then just imagine your dream team of announcers are calling the race live. I like to make believe Art, David Bailey, Ralph, Ricky, Emig, Cameron Steel, Langston and Weedge are all calling the race. It takes some practice just like anything in life but well worth it.

Wow, I can’t believe this is a topic. RC might not be Bob Costas, but he is doing a good job sharing his opinion. Right or wrong he puts himself out there. I am often critical of his opinions, but appreciate him sharing them. Not a lot of fence riding for the GOAT.

Don't give a crap about his opinions. It's his extremely underwhelming lack of insight that bothers me. Local C rider Daniel Blair (not sure if he even rides) apparently has to deliver on that front.

Huge fan of David. As a rider, a guy and an announcer.

Those races were taped and edited.

It’s the whole package. They miss everything. We heard the crowd go loud and saw Marvin dropping on the left side timing so obvious he went down and the announcers are just talking like nothing happened when I’m like how do you not hear and see that.

Then Daniel Blair talks way too long when they go to him trying to be all cool and smart and it’s just annoying. Just so fuc**** frustrating when the camera and announcers keep missing the action.

You're right, it is the entire package including that poor excuse for a press conference. Ricky and Ralph miss a ton of action and make a lot of mistakes. I get that they're going to have off nights but when every broadcast is an off night it's a problem. And then we have Daniel Blair....I started off liking him but as the season progressed that's changed. The guy talks way too much and comes off as a try hard that thinks he's cooler and smarter than everyone. Ever listen to his podcast? It's like 90% of him talking about how great he is because he's on the broadcast team and friends with Ricky...or boasting about some inside info he has but just can't share it with the public. Pls stfu already bro. The only.viable option here is to scrap the current broadcast crew and bring in Weege and Langston.

Art and David called the races "Live to Tape" starting in 1996. The fact that they weren't aired until the following week was had no effect whatsoever on the show.

Huge fan of David. As a rider, a guy and an announcer.

Those races were taped and edited.
Supercross was "live to tape". They also called a couple Vegas races live via Pay Per View. You can say the presentation was edited, sure... They called it as the action happened though. That's why you see them in the booth... They also confirmed this in a couple interviews that I won't be bothered to dig for. I'm sure DC (EXCELLENT floor guy btw) could chime in.

That's why I don't complain about the camera director... That's not so easy since there's no taking those camera angles back.
