A flagger before the takeoff makes the most sense. Where the flagger was made no sense.

There needs to be a flagger on top of that somehow.

Honestly that was terrible. Flagger inntte landing zone 15’ from the track. Wtf? They need a spotter there telling a flagger on the take off.

I almost started a thread on this but I knew someone probably already did. Why the f is that Moran standing at the bottom of a blind jump flagging while poor cianciarulo is playing frogger. Dude run 20 feet to your right and direct the riders to the left side of the jump!

dude he was out there waving his flag what do you want, it's racing and it's probably the worst spot for a crash to happen in terms of directing riders, since the flagger can't see which side is safe to pass. and it's also directly out of a turn where riders are looking straight up a ramp, pretty easy to miss a flagger... maybe they should put a lifeguard tower on top of the over under.

I think it was piss poor too. But the real reason I’m mad is because AC had a bad moto. I mean, I wouldn’t nearly be upset if AC won.

That was brutal. Stick a guy on top of the over/under, maybe put a little platform outside the Tuff blocks for him to stand. I don't know, I guess it would be sketchy to have a flagger up there....but that was crazy. I was sure that AC was going to get nailed.

Yellow flags are ignored, no matter where they are.

Last week the leader didn’t slow down for a Red Cross flag.

No he was waving his flag 10 feet off the side of the track, AND HE NEVER EVEN MOVED TOWARDS THE SECTION. At least move to the edge so riders have a hope of seeing you. Yeah it's dangerous, but it's even way more dangerous for Adam.

Red Cross should probably be used in a blind spot.

I saw one Flagger that looked like a fat chick with a yellow flag during qualifiers that was standing near the stands flagging all the way across the cement from the track during a crash. I kept thinking I hope they take this flag away from this check and give it to someone that has brains.

Do you guys really think the flaggers are told to just go find somewhere to stand and this is what was picked? How about we point our disdain towards Feld instead eh?

That was her. Even my wife said that flagger looks like a girl.

Im just wondering why the Flagger wouldn't run to the front of the jump?
Why stand in a blind spot after the jump.

That' what I saw too. The flagger lacked aggressiveness and stood far back just kind of waving the flag. Flaggers can be hard to see like that when you are so focused. I have even missed a checked flag because he stood back and was doing a VERY lazy flag wave and not even paying attention. I watched him in the following moto's and he was a read dud.

I am so tired of seeing people stand of the side of the track waving flags where no one can see them. Is it that hard to train a staff of flaggers and have them out there keeping the riders safe?????????????

Flaggers had a one hour training session by a professional, they are all experienced many of them have flagged that race for over 15 years, . The rules state they are not allowed on the track and the flagger safety is top priority, they are not to put themselves in danger on the backside of a blind jump. Only the track crew, which is separate from the flaggers and it is AMA, Is allowed on the track, to relocate tough blocks, assist down riders, direct riders with hand signals, and use the Red Cross or blue flags. Whether they are female has nothing to do with it.

So much wrong in this thread...

Running 20 feet to his right means running across the lane of a hot track, to get to where there’s already a flagger.

If he leaves that spot, as suggested, how are the guys on the other side of the tunnel going to know when it’s clear?

I was on the other side of the stadium. Was it yellow flags being waved? You can still jump on yellow flags.

If you look at this film, there is a flagger standing at the take-off waving the flag. https://twitter.com/NBCSports/status/1112161199175524355

I have been flagging Houston SX over 20 yrs, and we are told to NEVER cross a hot track, only AMA dudes will do that. In the past. there has been a yellow light at the top of jumps like that. but not this time for whatever reason, that is AMA's call. Those flaggers were doing EXACTLY what they were instructed to do. The AMA flagger on the scoring stand has a red cross flag to not jump, normal flaggers do not.

The Vitardism is strong in this thread. Piss poor job by Feld and the AMA. Yeah, yeah, I know. The AMA has nothing to do with professional racing per Rob Dingman and his fellow Dingbats.

The dumbest part of that whole video, since I know there were flaggers before the jump, was that Chimichanga didn't bother to push his no starting Kawasaki off the to side of the track until he figured out how to restart it. He continued to put himself and other riders at risk. Sub novice d class stuff right there.
