It's getting old seeing Reed get in the way of faster riders, even while being lapped.

I was at the race Saturday night. They didn't show it on TV after i watched the broadcast too. But while they were showing Musquin running his last lap and half you would see Bagget all of a sudden was back over 3 seconds from Musquin when just before the last two laps he was in passing position. Reed went right into Bagget's line and caused him to have to lay on the brakes twice. The flaggers pointed right at Reed and continued to wave their blue flag. I am glad Musquin won just cause he was my pick for the night haha, i like Reed a lot, but damn old man get out of the way when you are supposed to so that battle for the win can continue. After they finished Baggett stopped Reed from going into the tunnel, got in his face, then headed over to the podium. Anyone else see this?

Yep, I was there and saw it also. Bagget mentioned on the podium lappers trying to race him. Thats who he was talking about. I was laughing when I saw him yelling at Reed after the race. I like Reed but it seems like he gets in the way of the leaders an awful lot the last few seasons. Not the first time weve seen this outta him.

Baggett's podium speech makes sense now as he said he lost time and something along the lines of "lappers want to race me"

Well that sucks, because BB was on the gas and looked like he had the speed to challenge Marvin for the win.

I'm sure Reed is a little stubborn, but he was 10 sec behind Brayton and 2.5 ahead of Seely. Its not like he was in a battle of his own and definitely could have made way for Bagget. But lets face it he is far from the worst offender of this.

All part of racing and that track was about as one lined as it gets, lappers aren’t required to pull over or get out of the way.

From the rule book

"The intent of a specific rule will override a competitor's interpretation of a rule. The intent of a rule will be determined by AMA Pro Racing."

The overtaking of a slower rider by a faster rider where there is no position change is a situation that must be approached from a safety standpoint, and the intent of the rule regarding the use of the blue flag is to make a potentially dangerous situation less so. Section 7.14a.vii dictates the usage of and expected response to blue flags:

vii. Blue Flag: Indicates to a rider that they are about to be overtaken. Riders are advised to keep their line and allow the faster rider to pass. Riders disregarding this flag may be black-flagged at the discretion of AMA Pro Racing.

The safety of riders is of paramount importance, and each part of the rule deals with a specific aspect of protecting both the slower and faster rider. By advising that riders keep their line, they are being asked to stay in a controlled trajectory and not make erratic changes in their course, allowing the faster rider to predict the course of travel and avoid contact with the rider being passed. The second part of the sentence says that they are to allow the faster rider to pass, intended to further diminish the threat of contact between riders.

He was charging gaining position the whole race and then ur forced to basically come to a stop and roll the entire track. Too many riders on the track period. Sx is a circus. Still fun to watch becsuse its dirt bike's but it has its problems a plenty.

On the broadcast, you could definitely see glimpses of a yellow bike mixing in with the leaders, and it was obviously somebody a lap down.

For the most part, the other times he's held up a title contender THIS YEAR, at least Reed's been on the lead lap, but this one seemed more like when he held up Dungey a couple years back.

As much as I'd like to see the title contenders go head to head in a clean battle, I can't fault Reed for mixing it up or riding a wide bike when he's on the lead lap and battling for position. That was always something I admired about Canard, he'd always go into beast mode to pass a guy back.

But intentionally ignoring the blue flags when you're a lap down is a big F-U to the title contenders and the fans.

Reed would piss and moan if it happened to him.

Super bummed to learn Reed pulled another jackass move like he did with Dungey. Reed said himself in his RDL interview that he should not be winning because of his age, so he should act the part by respecting the leaders in a battle for the win. I have no issues with doing this on the lead lap, but being a lap down all riders should do what's right and allow the leaders to get by.

It obviously has to do with his ego (what former champ wants to get lapped?), but he should let it go and accept it's going to happen occasionally. He'll get much more respect pulling over than he will for being a road block and possibly affecting the outcome of a race.

Reed passed Seely on the last lap.

While you can argue that holding your line means staying in the the racing line, a lapper doing so on a one lined track while holding up the lead riders certainly doesn't diminish the threat of contact between the riders, it invites a takeout.

It becomes a problem when you can’t fill a gate with contenders and you have shiny gleeming also rans in the mix to make the choreographed motorcycle spectacle seem interesting.

Agreed. Where i race, the invite is taken right away, either you move or you will be moved and possibly taken down at the same time.

But, i have a feeling everyone would throw a fit if Reed was taken over a toughblock(even though he needed it lol).

Did Seely obey the blue flag & Reed use the blue flags for his advantage ?

Maybe they should make a track with more then 1 race line? Reed was battling for positions and started 22nd..

Riders that crash on the start usually end up around 22nd. I associate “battling” with competition fighting for podiums, not lappers

You realize how moronic and insulting that comment is to the guys who qualified for the main, right? There is not much of a time difference lap wise for the top 10, then the rest of the guys would absolutely smoke any local A riders at tracks.

Good thing BB didn't point out Reed on the podium or he would be blocking him as much as he could like he did with Dungey that time. Can't stand Reed.

Reed sits in 7th in the standings right now, but is under serious pressure to hold onto a top 10 for the season.

Savatgy, Brayton and Barcia are threatening him with strong finishes. Reed will need to step it up to hold on, and I'm sure he's not too worried about what we think as always. Where's those Elle photo's again?

I was surprised to see that inside turn lane constantly filled with lappers. Even the lappers with 2 minutes left were not taking the outside lane.

He currently sets in 7th, but is going to struggle to keep a top 10 for the season? Can I look into your crystal ball before the Mega Millions drawing tomorrow night?

He's only got 11 points over 10th, and all 3 behind him have outscored him the last 3 races. Not looking good if he doesn't dig deep and get it done.

I really want to see him get a start in the top 3 or at least top 5 on a track that he is feeling it.

He kinda threw Eli under the bus in that interview but he's stating facts. Eli has done nothing in SX. He's a terrible starter, shows signs of giving up after each crash. Of course this has nothing to do with Reed being lapped but just stating my opinion on Chad's interview.

Chad Reed will retire in 2020. I’m a fan...but you can only ego-trip for so long.

I know this has been talked about before but I think once you get lapped you should pull off and that is where you finish,, I see some guys just riding around looking like they are spectating at race from on the track.
