Was watching some highlights of him today and remembered that 250 season where he had arm pump all the time and threw away his title shot.

Seems like it isn't a problem anymore. Was it pressure and expectations or did he do something that cured it?

I remember seeing somewhere a picture of some dude who had surgery for arm pump and the scars were nasty!... It wasn't Deano, but I always think of that image when someone bring this up.

The fascia (lining) around the muscle is removed, I think, someone correct me if I’m wrong

Close, they don't generally remove the fascia, they just cut it so that the muscle can expand without restricting blood flow. It's generally done via keyhole now so isn't anywhere near as bad as it used to be as far as scarring goes. There are even some trials underway evaluating injecting Botox between the muscle and fascia to stretch the fascia as a non-surgical remedy. CECS is a real prick of a condition, I have had it in both arms and legs for the last 6 or so years and I've had to give up pretty much all sport, I can't run for more than a couple hundred metres before my legs pump up, and I had to quit riding years ago as I can't do anything much more intensive than just cruising around. It's looking more and more like I will have to get surgery if I want to live an active lifestyle, but I've put it off till now because the odds of the surgery working aren't terrific, and when it goes wrong it goes really wrong. I really hope Dean has been able to put it behind him and it won't be an issue that pops back up again.

It definitely sucks. I've never experienced it in my legs but both arms started getting it when I was about 14-15. Really sucks a lot of the fun out of riding because everything else feels 100% but your arms don't work. I've noticed though that what triggers it for me is vibration. I get fucking arm pump now just from running a weed eater hahaha.

For sure man, mine gets triggered really easily now by almost anything but vibration is definitely worse, one example is hammering in a nail, after <30 seconds my arm is like a rock and I can hardly control my hand. Have you thought about getting surgery? From what I've heard it's much harder to convince Dr's to fix arms as opposed to legs.
