The triple crown is intense beginning to end. Standard format is 2.5hrs of gate pick qualifying before any real racing that matters.
It starts out intense but then it fades out. I agree with Mit that they need to figure something out to make the final races exciting. Paying points for each individual moto like they do in outdoors might be the answer.

Call me old fashioned but I'd rather they just race 2 motos with slightly longer races if they don't want to do the traditional program.

Start the night show off with the LCQ's. Right after they need to get the KJSX going to allow for a break for the 250 boys before the first MOTO. Two 12 min + 1 lap MOTOs for the 250s and two 15 min + 1 lap for the 450s, with points paid out for each race. Give them a little more of a break in between races and give us a couple more commercials or rider features to build more interest in the individual riders. Overall determined by max points on the day as opposed lowest Olympic scoring. Slightly longer mains to allow for more of a chance to get yourself in a position you belong in. Points paid out to each main because these guys are putting a lot on the line in each of these races and they deserve to be rewarded with championship points for making that pass on your title combatant late in the MOTO. And bring it to two motos because three can be tough on the equipment and put more focus on the team and resources, especially with a 20 min turnaround. I feel that this would fit the 3 hour broadcast slot a lot more cleanly and would give the riders the incentive to make moves late in the last race of the night.

And btw, I love that Eli called it how it is and cleared up all the confusion of the last two years when he said he just needs to get himself prepared for the third "moto." I'm so done with the confusion between these races and regular mains and the whole Supercross broadcast team completely ignoring the fact that motocross is not only a thing but the basis for this sport's existence. These guys don't just hang up the boots after Vegas and hide in their basements until MEC, Ralph.

You don't have to accept it. In my case if it does go that route 100% I'll just stick to watching MX only.

without a chance for the other 40-60 riders to make the mains, this would kill it, IMO
...or, those guys would quit chasing an impossible dream and go back to chasing local or international races. A guy living in his van not will not ruin the sport. If anything it will improve it on the local level which this sport so desperately needs.

I like the triple crown, but each race should get points. Then the OA winner should get points. Maybe like 5-8-10 (more points for later races) and then 2 additional points for the OA winner of the evening.

I like the racing but the commercial breaks kill me.

More racing, which is great. Format is perfect for Tomac's inevitable major or minor mishaps, as it is more forgiving. Only problem for me is that Main #3 is usually anticlimactic.

I love the triple crown. The only thing I would change is the length of each "main". 3-12 minute races is a lot of intense supercross racing, which as a fan I LOVE. However, for the racers (AKA the reason we watch), that is a lot of additional meaningful racing time that puts them at risk longer than a traditional 20 minute main.

Instead of doing 20 minutes + 1 lap main, they are now doing 36 minutes + 3 laps. That's a lot of racing! (Again, as a fan, I love it)

I would think tapering the races down a few minutes, like 10 minute mains for 450s, would result in great racing, but also help with rider attrition. It would also give the teams more time between races, which is something a lot of teams are complaining about at these events.

I do think they should show the LCQ races though. That is one thing I really miss with this package.

What I like about the Triple-Crown format: Racers have to race the whole way. No settling for a qualifying position. It is racing right from the start. Imagine that! Only the racing is shown on TV during the night show! Also you basically have the best of the qualifying talent racing. Only the cream of the crop as it were.
What I don't like about the triple-crown format: If you win a 'moto' its not quite the same as winning a main event in a non triple-crown format. You dont get a trophy or main event winner points. You get a rushed interview & then your next race is in less than an hour! Try not to rush! haha
As far as making it easier for fans to watch &/or figure out our confusing moto- scoring I think the Triple-Crown format adds way more complexity. So that is a fail!
Oh I cant wait until they throw in the joker lane next year! whoo-hoo!

I am in. Teams complain about time in between races and the need to furnish another bike...I am not sure how we can deal with the tight night show program time-wise but I have an easy way to solve the need for an extra bike and the extra costs that entails.

Here is the solution - of the Triple Mains only count two towards the overall.

Throw away the worst score. Results from this weekend in the 450 class would have been as is...considering an olympic scoring system contributing to the overall.

1. Tomac 1-1 = 2 pts
2. Webb 2-1 = 3 pts
3. Baggett 4-2 = 6 pts
4. Reed 3-5 = 8pts (beats Musquin on lower throw away)
4. Musquin 4-4 = 8 pts
5. Roczen 5-5 = 10 pts (beats Barcia on lower throw away)
6. Barcia 7-3 = 10 pts
7. Savatgy 8-3 = 11 pts (beats Brayton on lower throw away)
8. Brayton 2-9 = 11 pts
9. Wilson 7-9 = 16 pts.
10. Osborne 10-8 = 18 pts (beats Plessinger on lower throw away)
