Soft Dallas track due to no lime?

Edited Date/Time 2/17/2019 9:08am
Haven’t seen any discussion on this. Obviously a super soft Dallas track.

I was wondering the same thing earlier during qualifying when they were talking about how much the track had broken down.

Thinking the same thing. The absence of lime has to be playing a role in how this years track is breaking down. Hoping that these guys make it out safe tonight.

It’s pretty stupid that overuse/improper use of lime in one extraordinary rainstorm means lime can’t be used properly anymore.. Typical lawyer driven overreacting BS..

You have no clue whatsoever. None. The amount of complete lack of common sense displayed by the majority here is pathetic.

People gonna bitch about them using lime, now gonna bitch about not using lime. It's pretty obvious the dirt is much different than years before at Arlington which I'm hoping leads to more interesting racing since this layout appears to be so 1 lined.

Feld is a billion dollar corporation. There isn't one single action taken that doesn't involve a lawyer

The dirt has been used before. It probably has lime in it.

What if someone falls and gets splinters on the exposed plywood?

Did I just hear Carmichael say there are NO ruts on this non-lime prepped track?

Blair stated the dirt was fresh, and usually is “used” by Monster Jam before they use it again for Supercross, so it has been tarped and hasnt dried out.

Um..... do you believe a lawyer made the decision to spread lime on top of the ground before a monsoon?

Sorry, any legal advice on lime gate was reactive, not proactive.

Isn't this stadium a concrete base? Don't think they normally use plywood on concrete.

Whatever the reason I’m glad because that track would have been fucked if it was hardpacked.

The dirt in Arlington has been getting softer every year, don't think tonight's ruts had anything to do with Lime-Gate. Check out the ruts from 2018; dirt looked the same to me.

Uh...since it’s a concrete floor, they don’t use plywood.

Forkner had a bit of a cough during his podium speech, I think Freckle did too? Were they smoking the CBD's?

There's easily over 100 different products available as a soil amendment that will functionally do the same thing as lime, all of which are safe for people and machines. The fact that it hadn't been replaced long ago is the question in my mind.
They could make that dirt hard as concrete if they wanted to, to the point that you couldn't dig a trench with a Dtich Witch. My guess is, Feld and the Dirt Wurx crew are working on a replacement product for the lime, but they aren't ready for it to be used yet - lots of testing would be needed to determine what is best and how to consistently apply it in various conditions, etc. They probably just went with plain old dirt from the DFW area. What a concept! I thought it looked good.
