That is absolutely no joke.

However, the media (talking big media) says that motorcycle ownership is higher than ever in America. Now, not a lot of new bikes are being sold, but the used market is really hopping and loaded with cheap bikes, so I can see that.

So why are all these households with motorcycles in them, not spending any money on the industry? They aren't buying much gear, not many aftermarket parts, and they aren't subbing to magazines.

I am talking industry wide here, not just dirt, but are the majority of bikes owners just not riding, so they aren't buying anything? Or do the majority spend most of their cash on their house/cars/student-loans and just don't have the cash to be an avid rider?

Seriously, I am an avid daily rider, and I don't want to see all our cool sh!t go away (big races, new bikes, new aftermarket goodies). Only now am I truly worried that the industry of mx/sx could end up like slot car racing..... this sucks.......

I know they are all technically competitors, but it seems like most of the media guys get along really well with the exception of a certain few at a specific magazine.

I’m crushed for those guys right now, all of that staff I consider close friends. They’re not competitors, they’re family.

It really sucks and I hope they get things figured out. I only got to race one of their races but my dad raced there a lot. It was run really well and their class selection was awesome. One of the few with a 25+ class around here that comes up my way.

From Mike Antonovich instagram :
I remember seeing this thing for the first time. My mom got it for my brother at Christmas in 2000 and I snatched it away. Everything I ever thought was cool about Moto was in those pages and Donn became an icon to me over the years. Learning under one of the best and alongside some of the top talent has made my life what it is. So today, I no longer am a part of TWMX for now. None of us are. But a look at our masthead will show a roster of guys that will be back to producing content in no time. Thank you for every page click, social like, and subscription. One love.

From Swap's Instagram:In 2000, I was running a small magazine called MXracer and thought life couldn’t get any better. Then the opportunity to launch TransWorld Motocross came along and I jumped at the opportunity with my great friend @garthmilan. Within a year, we were officially the best-selling moto mag in the world! The media environment changed radically in the years that followed but we were always able to adapt. There are way too many great memories to list, but the standouts are the friends I’ve made. Nearly two decades after starting this brand that’s grown larger than I could have ever imagined, things have been put on hold. Company acquisitions are nothing new - I’ve had five different business cards since starting twmx - but this pending sale is a lot different. The good news is that my team is still a team. Where we will continue to create content is an unknown for now, but our hopes are to pick up where we are leaving off today, with TransWorld Motocross. Thank you all for the love and support through the years! I’m just a guy who loves dirt bikes..

Their publisher/owner has remained the same , and not going anywhere anytime soon.

Unfortunately TWMX has been part of a larger publishing group consisting of many labels, that over the years has been bought/sold several times, some labels stayed, some went, and this time, TWMX was one of them to go.

When they buy a new group and shut the profitable mags down, it's not hard to see why. It makes me wonder what they are keeping.

I hope they make a comeback.
Especially as MXRacer——-such an awesome mag back in the day. Would love to have some of that, in whatever form it may appear.

Anton may be a strange, troubled person, but I appreciate his moto enthusiasm.

Which is a shame. There is so much useful info out there on the internet but many times I go back to a site to look something up and the site no longer exists and of course all that info disappeared with the site. Photobucket decides to buttrape everyone that loaded their site up with photos and all of a sudden all those photos in all those helpful DIY projects all over the internet are gone. With print, I go dig back through those thousands of mags that for some reason I feel the need to keep and low and behold there is that article. The internet has not been the cure all.

I hate to hear this. Now I wish I would have subscribed to the print mag. This thread has prompted me to renew my subscription to MXA, and I am also going to commit to Racer X print just because DC is such a cool cat.

Maybe Davey will add a tribute page inside the back of RacerX for TransworldMX. Add Motocross magazine and Dirt Rider and he can have a Death Row of moto magazines. Can’t believe I saw the rise and fall of enthusiast motocross, in my lifetime.

My subs with MXA have come and gone, off and on over the years. Racer X? I haven't really read much over the past year and a half due to other stuff keeping me overly busy but I have every single issue and don't plan on missing out on keeping that going. One day I will pull a Racer X marathon and get caught up.

I think Donn and Michael and the whole staff do too good of a job not to find a new home (or maybe an old home with Bonnier?) Our sport needs this magazine, their website, their races. The new owners (David Pecker's American Media) also own The National Enquirier and those kind of magazines and motocross and BMX mags and platforms apparently don't fit in their library. I am a fan and reader of all of the magazines in moto right now, including MXA and TWMX, as well sites like Vital MX and PulpMX and others, and even though the media landscape is changing, there's enough content out there to cover that we can all do our own thing and have an audience. I practically grew up with Donn at Cycle News and then MX Racer, and even when we became magazine rivals, we were friendly rivals and worked together when we could. I really hope he and his crew find a new home quickly and keep it pinned.

I wonder if the liability associated with running a race series had something to do with the decision by the new corporate heads.

If it doesn't fit their library/business model, what's the upside to buying them out? Hoping the subscribers will subscribe to whatever they put out? I buy moto mags because it's about moto. I couldn't care less about The National Enquirer or whatever else they put out.

Guess this explains why the last issue of TWMX that came to Western Canada was Sept 2018 issue.
I emailed Don asking why no more TWMX up here but never heard back from him.
